- Phocion55, on 10/12/2007, -0/+26Screw a $600 PS3.
I'm getting better entertainment through all of these articles.....for free.
Priceless. - mobilehavoc, on 10/12/2007, -5/+25All this just for RRRIIIIIIDDDDGGEEE RRRRRAAACCCCEEEERRR
- ryansebiz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Nerds stalking nerds. Scary.
- DiggityDugged, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10o yah, and i should have mentioned - the hopeful robbers ducktaped their license plates. talk about premeditated, i can imagine them making their plans a year ago.
- DeadlyCouncil, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8"We decide to investigate. Normally gunshot sounds are something I try to hide from, but I've got cookies and a digital camera, which somehow makes me feel safe."
LMFAO... dugg for that alone - Buelldozer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7@SandKat you should "know" a little more.
Mallets made out of copper, lead, stone, and wood are far older than the rubber variety. Just because the rubber one is the one you are most familiar with doesn't mean that it's the traditional one.

The more you know. - DiggedDugged, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Note to retailers: Your system of letting people camp outside your store sucks.
Note to campers: The PS3 sucks. - NikoKun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Wow... wtf... sad they got away... I'd really wanna teach them a lesson... XD
Why would they think anyone with a PS3 would leave it alone in their car? especially if those guys were waiting in line to get one to begin with...
Hope those douches get caught... - buckaroo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8PS3: Potentially Stolen in 3 minutes.
Really is supposed to be about Survival Of The Fittest in the games you play, not the lines you stand in to get the games ... - john2kx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Sony's classic E3 keynote presentation.
- vawksel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5More of this to come.
- WVUChrisF, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7"Roving bands of armed men and women patrolling the streets is what America is all about. That and free cookies."
Awesome - neuroplasma, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Arguing about mallets is retarded.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Retarded
The more you know. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I believe those are called mallets.
- innerspirit, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Sony is destroying our society!
Damn, we should have seen this coming when we found out about those pesky rootkits. - Sandkat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6No, mallets are tradionally made of rubber. I think the distinction between a sledgehammer and hammer is the shape of the head. A sledgehammer is more of a block of metal meant to be used as a blunt instrument. A hammer being used for smaller and more precision stricking.
The more you know. - jlawrence10, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7wouldn't a "smallish sledgehammer" just be called a hammer?
- HisBoyElroy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3If you look at the buyer of this, it's obvious they are not going to pay, it's a crass screenname with no ratings. I have a feeling there will be a lot of these "poor sellers" who won't be getting a penny from the winners.

- webpoet73, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Holy Schnike! I was in that Best Buy at about 7PM last night.... There didn't seem to be too many people in line at that time. The BB sales guy in the game department told me that they only had about 35 PS3's. And that they had to build their own kiosk because Sony was late shipping them one.
- Sandkat, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Believe it or not some of us want to hear about these crazy stories. The more I read, the bigger the warm and fuzzy feeling will be when I'm playing my Wii.
- flygirl62, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3"Cookies make anyone feel safe. Unless you're approached by Cookie Monster. Then they become a liability."
But remember that "cookie monster" eats fruit and good foods now (sheesh):
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/04/08/entertainment/main686690.shtml - sideshowRAHEEM, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1these stories are getting ridiculous 400,000 unit at launch Sony should have expected this how long before we see "Murdered for PS3" on the front page of Digg. LOL
- Dycacian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1yeah :P Kinda funny there were 58 bids before this idiot won. I wonder how high the real bids would have been.
- elhaf, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Yeah, um, handing out tickets might seem like a good idea. Especially if the product you are selling is one that trains you to break in to cars and stomp hookers.
- zeeeej, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The winning bidder is "bobzharrydick". Hmmm ... ebay sabotage?
Edit: Darn you, Elroy, for beating me to it! Darn you to heck! - DoctaStooge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1along with planning, maybe they practiced this plan a year ago and it just wasn't reported.
- craive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Just walked into the local best buy and bought it. The manager was doing an interview and putting two on the shelf. Saw another guy grab the one so I snagged this before someone else eyeing it could.
- kazzyD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1For a compilation of the crazy specifics happening around the country as a result of the PS3 launch, check out:

- mr.hostility, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Christ almighty, this whole thing makes me scared for the human race if anything more important than a ***** video game system is ever available in short supply.
- Soniti, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You're missing it because you didn't flip the crab over for MASSIVE DAMAGE.
Or maybe you didn't have real-time weapon switch.
~Soniti - ivachen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Someone at Bronx had murder delivery boy for like 20 bucks, I am pretty sure there will be murder on a PS3 soon.
- Fubtar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It'll be funny if Jack Thompson cites these activities as "video games causing violence."
- Dycacian, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I think this link will work better. I hope.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=62054&item=320049418523 - wbradney, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0And how. Like the 360, I won't consider this thing "launched" until I can walk (not run) into a store during regular business hours and pay retail or less. Which will probably be about March if the 360 was anything to go by.
- superfly007, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0People who camped the ps3 as well as the people robbing them are equally retarded.
The whole thing is just hilarious. - mrniceguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I was there. I went to the bar across the street for some beers then came back and saw glass shattered very close to my white Buick Lesabre. I can even see my car in one of the pictures.
- daveboudreau, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1well there is a bid of $10,900.00 by a member that has over 1000 positive feedback so even though he may not get the full 14K, he will probably get close to 11K for it. not bad for a few days work.
- elhaf, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Beat me to it (by 31 minutes, it seems).
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i actually already figured this would happen.
scenarios i thought might happen to me if i tried to buy a ps3 at midnight:
A) i get the ps3. some lunatic follows me home and then robs me.
B) i get robbed waiting in line.
either way i knew something like this would happen. - realyst, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0edit: dangit, zeeej beat me to it^^;
bury me - BigHeadDave, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0So, here's the really funny part.
I wasn't camping for a PS3. I don't want a PS3. I'm buying a Wii on Sunday.
I'm the guy in the picture whose car got violated.
Me and a friend simply went out to watch the madness. This store wasn't opening at midnight, so we drove to the other store, got out and watched. We came back here to get his car, and I paused for a few minutes to talk to the new additions at the end of the line. (including the otaku guy) I was there to observe the proverbial "celebration of gaming" that is the console concrete campout for a few minutes to be on my way.
So, in essence, and in the words of Dante Hicks - I wan't even supposed to be here today... - blastradius, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2So America is the model for Iraq!
- mrfreeziexp, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Wow, fanboys....
- qwertydvorak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0now wait for garbage day when all the idiots put the ps3 boxes at the curb... next morning some burgler will be very happy...
- Odweaver, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I walked into a gamecrazy 5 months ago traded in my psp and some games and walked out with a premium 360 and they had four others in stock, and it was 3pm on a wednesday, how easy can it be to get an xbox 360?
- BigHeadDave, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Oh, and my friend with me does remember seeing their car at the other location. They saw us get in the car with nothing in our hands, and followed me to steal my non-existant PS3.
- michaelwright, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I think the saddest part about this whole deal is that it speaks towards a larger picture of grey-marketism (made up a word). It's not illegal to resell these PS3s, of course, and with such a limited supply, and such high demand, it's intensely lucrative to be a reseller at this time. Now, of course, most people who want PS3s are probably gamers themselves, but there are shameful opportunists, and these would-be thieves are an example of the worst kinds of entrepreneurs imaginable: those who would build their fortunes out of violent deceit.
Honestly, if I were in charge of eBay, and other resale sites, I'd put a moratorium on all PS3 auctions for a while. If I had a conscience. But, eBay's making a lot of money out of this too, what with seller fees, etc.
Or, perhaps Sony could have ensured a nearly suitable supply.
Or, maybe people could be less animalistic, dishonest, and just wait their turn in line. -
