- rindin, on 10/12/2007, -2/+55If she woulda just had her baby in line she could have gotten another ps3...
unless she got beat down by the crowd for letting a "cutter" in line. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+44"Engadget reports that a dentist in Georgia wanted to buy a bunch of PS3s for his family, and hired 60 "temps" to wait in line at various stores for him. "
I heard that some dude was standing in line and the lady behind him offered him a drink because he has been waiting so long. Well, he passed out from a drug in the drink and woke up in a tub full of ice with a tube running out from where his kidneys use to be. True story. - jmdajr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+41man WTF!!!!!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+36Ah, another female gamer with her priorities straight.
- tsunamisteve, on 10/12/2007, -3/+24I feel sorry for her baby. If a PS3 is her priority in the late months of her pregnancy...
- icantdrawanime, on 10/12/2007, -3/+22The poor kid...
Mommy decided the PS3 was more important than you were... - Zippo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19So far, we have birthing women, rapists, muggings, riots, shootings, armed robberies, and others I'm sure I've missed... could anything possibly make the PS3's launch worse?
- sideshowRAHEEM, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13All these stories made it to the front page of digg:
Pregnant Woman Tries Not To Give Birth While Waiting
Escaped Rapist Found in Best Buy PS3 Camp Out Line
Playstations 3 stolen from GameStop by armed men.
PS3 Midnight launch attenders get stalked, and cars broken into
I've never read the bible so someone has to tell me is the release of the PS3 one of the signs of the apocalypse? - mancat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12What the ***** is the matter with these people? Do they have jobs? Do they have families, friends? Do they have any responsibilities at all? Why do they have to have the new console RIGHT NOW? What is the problem with waiting a few weeks?
I live in a small town outside of Seattle (Silverdale) and even here there are almost ten tents lined up outside of the local Best Buy. I went in to buy a movie yesterday, and I just stood there for a few minutes and stared at them before I went in, trying to signal my disgust withoug being mouthy about it. It's like this across the entire freaking country. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11When it comes to console launches there are those who are hardcore and show up a few hours in advance to wait outside the store, there are those who are dedicated and show up a day or so in advance to wait outside the store, and there are fanboys who camp for days..with an s.
This woman, if the story is true, makes them all look normal. - EvolvedAnt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9On an interesting note, if you click the link that site points to, to reference where they got this pregnant women thing from, you will find ZERO mention of said women.
Either A) This was a lie or B) The news site removed that section for some strange reason. - aresef, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9I've heard of women getting strange cravings during pregnancies, but this is the most ridiculous one I've ever heard
- modiggs1976, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9She must have been giving birth to one of those creepy PS3 babies from the commercial.
- Methodius, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Some crazy-ass looking beast had to mark everybody before they could buy their PS3's.
- gsnedders, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Only in America…
- gbaderek, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5wow that is just sad, there are alot of idiots out there. I dont understand why people have to act like idiots when getting a ps3.
- Philbert, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4That'll be a fun story to tell the kid when he/she grows up. "When I was about to give birth to you I was standing in line for something called a 'video game system'. I wanted it so bad I tried not giving birth!". Truth be told though, 2 grand from eBay can sure buy a lot of diapers.
- culbeda, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Clueless, rabid fan-boys + 3 units per store + sleep deprivation = mayhem
- RandomSkratch, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6@ Zippo
"could anything possibly make the PS3's launch worse?"
Yeah, the PS3 - EvolvedAnt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3And it was the Wii that got the kid there in the first place...
Now we know which system is good and which is bad. - Archon810, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Perhaps she just wanted to sell it on ebay for 2-3k so she can feed her baby, cause she's obviously a single mother; otherwise her "hubby" would be in line, not her (unless they're both in line in which case, she's ***** crazy).
- theOster, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5@zippo
i hear they're using sony batteries... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is all Sony's Fault! (Plus the new mom)
- pbaehr, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Could you have found something more vague than a Techdirt summary to point the link to? I submit that you could not.
- themastersb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I would have been born sooner..... if it weren't for the PS3
- anagoge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Good job she wasn't waiting in Europe.
- Lynx34, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3@Zippo
Yeah, bad games. - 1Bit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Semantics. :/
How about a piece of electronics shoudn't get in the way of your real life, especially when it involves another life. - mabhatter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1maybe she could get the kid to crawl under the crowd to get one of the chairs so she could buy one... boy, talk about "running before walking" early!
On the other hand, all a new mom's going to be doing for a few months after having the kid is feeding/changing every 2 hours anyway.. a PS3 would be great for between the 2AM and 4AM feeding when you can't get back to sleep! - apache2, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4from the robbery article:
"One of the suspects was described as African-American, 6'3", wearing a black hooded sweatshirt. The other suspect is described as Hispanic, 6'3", also wearing a black hooded sweatshirt."
always has to be the blacks and hispanics - shadgenki, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2"Either A) This was a lie or B) The news site removed that section for some strange reason."
It's true. There was a news report on 6 ABC out of Philadelphia where a woman was pregnant and waiting in line with her toddler and her mother. She was due to give birth this weekend but waited in line anyway. - Brocclibob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Now she has to explain to her deformed child why he is actually deformed...
- akurashy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2couldn't agree more, this is really insanity, just to get a stupid console. I don't hate ps3, xbox, wii but if this is way it's going to be man.. wordless
- lightningrod220, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Just more proof that people who are buying a PS3 are just as retarded as Sony...
The Wii is cheaper, better, faster, and proven to be more technically stable than the PS3. - Qenton, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Please keep these headlines coming. Can't wait till the Wii comes out just to get another entertaining batch!
- carpespasm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1sorry to diapoint you, but since nintendo has their ***** straight, and has enough wii units to meet demand i doubt you'll hear headlines about idiots trampling their grandma to get a wii. just wait til you wake up, head to a target, best buy, wal-mart, or whatever and get one. there's gonna be about 20-50 per store depending where you go.
i still for the life of me don't understand why a crowd of people would wait days in front of a store which only has 3-4 of what they want. - joshman5k, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I wonder what she'll call the kid...
Rachet? Clank? - Karyyk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Maybe the 'boyfriend' has to work for a living, something these line-dwellers obviously don't have to do (easy when you live in your parent's basement). I like games as much as the next guy, but this goes beyond being dumb (both those standing in line and those paying 5 times the price on eBay), more like mental illness.
- straxus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'll be sure to only use my electronics in my fake life then.
- undercoverhippo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2This is totally insane. I grew up in a former communist country in Eastern Europe and my parents had to wake up every day at 3 or 4 AM to go and stand in -10 centigrade cold with 100s of people in line just to buy milk and bread to feed me and my brother because the government rationalized food. Compare that to a bunch of retards camping out in front of Walmart to buy PS3s. Kids in this country have their priorities screwed up big time!
- 1Bit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is idiotic. A piece of electronics should have no bearing on your real life.
- davenport651, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0These people waiting in line are either deadbeats without jobs or teenagers without jobs. Both of which, i assume, have massive credit card debt.
- lordsandwich, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4I have a feeling her baby'll end up as creepy as the one in the PS3 commercial.
- jackmyang, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Sony estimated correctly before the launch saying they will sell 5M consoles without any games at all. We've got people just doing that, no joke!
- rybolee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I saw magnumshopping http://www.magnumshopping.com/ is claiming to sell PS3 for 1500$, preorder now. Does anybody know about them. OR is this another of the frauds.
Also came across modoshi, http://www.modoshi.com/ making it as a giveaway. - typeronin, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0It's not fun lining up...or being outside all night for that matter.
http://www.ededition.com/ps3-launch-sitting-outside-in-the-cold-is-not-fun/
See? - jtjenn, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2PS3 is tearing the world apart! All these Ps3 stories.
- Nexus85, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2So very very wrong
- kenvsryu, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2What's your name? Sixaxis.
- joshman5k, on 10/12/2007, -7/+4Could the Playstation 3 be the reincarnet of Christ?
