- ConkerBFD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+96I always thought that the "TVs above your head" setup was to do just that - make you neck sore after 5 minutes so you stop and let someone else play (that, along with making it easier for people behind you to see the game in action).
- Paroparo, on 10/12/2007, -7/+68Or maybe Nintendo is aiming at younger/smaller customers? =P
(just kidding I love Nintendo, please don't kill me) - dgcrazykid, on 10/12/2007, -7/+50I like that the Wii's TV is in front of your face and not above you. I would get a cramp in my neck playing the PS3 with that setup.
- Bara, on 10/12/2007, -5/+39And where's your source that this is a "***** rumor"? You don't even list a source or anything. Dugg down for random babbling.
- Pacotheparrot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+29How is this inaccurate? The guy even says they might be fake and to me they look pretty damn accurate seeing as how it'd be hard to fake an entire kiosk (But not impossible). Whatever, I dugg it.
- phort99, on 10/12/2007, -1/+28In related news: The PS3 kiosk costs a quarter of a million dollars.
- Bara, on 10/12/2007, -7/+33I personally find the slick Mac-type style of the Wii kiosk to be far more appealing than the random, gritty colors of the PS3 kiosk.
- pbjohnson79, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21who cares whether or not it's fake...who's going to pay that much attention to a kiosk rather than the system itself? not me. I'd play the system(s) if they stood on a cheap cinder block/2x4 setup.
- Mujklob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16They're cords to prevent you from walking out with the controllers.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17agree with bara.
ANY time you have the choice btw red and blue lighting, ALWAYS choose blue.
just think how much cooler the Chocolate would be with blue lights instead of red... - Bokista, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14I'm suprised nobody has used the term 'wiiosk' yet.
- 4889, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14Who in their right mind would go to the trouble of faking something as trivial and (honestly) banal as a retail ad-play kiosk?
I mean, really... besides, these things have to have been designed by now, if not put into full production... simply because both console launch dates are within 3 months so... It sort of logical that theyd have retail ornamentation of this sort ready to go.
Even if its faked... okay... well.. they'll probably look something like that anyway. - Ignignokt01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Its impossible to determine whether its accurate or not. Either way, they both look fun.
- ReRush, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Oh, defintely a digg.
But... maybe I'm blind or something because I only see the wiimote and not the nunchaku.
And what is the 2nd screen type thing above the first? - aywwts4, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13To be honest it wouldn't really be that hard, It doesn't take someone terribly skilled in 3D modeling to create something like that. Brushed metal textures, some logos taken off of the Internet, then photoshop the wii into place from a e3 photo. The random excite truck press release photo strikes me as an odd addition to a kiosk www.media.wii.ign.com/media/826/826983/imgs_1.html
I'm not saying its fake, I'm just not precluding the fact that it could be fake. - NSMike, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I'm... Pretty confused as to what you're about.
- sam10685, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7the string attached to the wii-mote looks a little short to play baseball.
- Bob042, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6It's interesting how the Wii kiosk seems to mimic the disc drive, with that blue glow going from top to bottom on the kiosk. I like that glow, and it looks much better in the movies i've seen than the pictures.
- Goosey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5It would suprise me if they were not hanging in that fashion. Sticking out to the side or something would be... well, you already mentioned gravity so..
- NSMike, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I imagine that they're not cables, just tethers, and as such, heavy enough to not to be easily torn or cut, but loose enough to allow people full range of motion. It wouldn't surprise me if they hung straight down like that.
- Easty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I'm sooooo using that term now.
- rivercityjessie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3no, the ps3 kiosk is seriously ugly, and I would say that if the wii was in it or not.
- Zreitan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3we dont even know the height of these things...judgeing the from size of the ps3, if memory serves it seems the screen ont he ps3 one isnt THAT high up just a little bit of head tilting
also the Wii kiosk has some strange shadows on it that make me think this is one from E3 or some show where they brough this out, so that would mean its already made and they just have to ship, the ps3 one looks blurry and quite honestly like a concept someone threw together... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3http://forums.nintendo.com/nintendo/board/message?board.id=revolution&message.id=1766156
the forum post - Ignignokt01, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4'like ur standing in front of a HUGE version of it, but whatever.'
Thats the Wii in a plexiglass box. You blind? - shakin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2While I'm not a big fan of the Wii kiosk's Mac-styling, I think the PS3 kiosk looks terrible, as if they were trying to make it look 'cool' rather than designing it to be a good way to try out games.
- GolfDude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2this article is NOT INNACCURATE.. these were photos given to gamestop and eb stores to show them the prototype demo station that will come to the stores in late october.. they are true prototypes, and not fakes...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Wow, the Wii Kiosk looks like *****. I think its funny how everyone says it looks good though. Now, if the PS3 and Wii's Kiosk were switched, everyone would say the PS3's Kiosk (Originally the Wii's Kiosk) would look like crap.
- Azereki, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The PS3 and Wii kiosks shown in the article are not faked, was able to actually see both of them today since they will soon be coming to the EB store where I work.
- Ignignokt01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1list them then
- macgabriel87, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2does anyone find the cables a little to parallel? gravity was sure pulling down hard when they took that shot lol
- Ssj6Kirby, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Interesting. I would like to see something like this in stores.
Anyone have the link to the forum post? - KyleMistry, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2That Wii kiosk looks great. Though, the controllers seem to force the players to be in close proximity.
I predict injuries. Many, many injuries. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow. Looks just like the Kiosks we played at E3. OH WAIT, IT IS *rolls eyes*
no digg. totally lame. - K4R454UR, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Look at the other comments, it's up there somewhere.
- Tech, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Didn't anyone notice that the LCD display on the Wii kiosk, is a ... SONY display!
- Nexus85, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1They're probably fake, but I still think they're both pretty cool. The Wii Kiosk is the nicest one though.
- c1gar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1These are mock ups!
Not the real deal, many web sites have said this - marioluigi123, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well, I imagine it would be hard to use the Wiimote if the screen was really high up.
- mchammer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Sorry my original post didn't make sense, i meant to say it would be hard to know what to do if there is someone pointing forward in a baseball game (citing e3 on how it was played) the way it was held it would have people standing to the side. Just to make another thing clear that stupid second screen wasn't at e3 while people played. video link http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4717856111689746480&q=wii+e3+baseball&hl=en
- bobbygeorgina, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Fake or not I like the Wii Kiosk more...
...It seems like many the people on the source forum (below the images in the link) seem to like the PS3 one more (I only read the first few). Either way, I think the Wii one really does look good. - lamneth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yup, the Wii stand, at least, is from E3. The retail one will be different.
- nreynolds, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1oh, actually i didn't see the wiimotes there (so i didnt know what those poles are for, they still look too thick to me to be just cords), they blend in.
@Ignignok - I was talking about how the whole kiosk is designed kind of like a Wii, like the blue line going up is like the disk slot. And clearly they did that on purpose, you blind? - xero8472, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Not to be an ass, but is this really news? It's a picture of new systems hooked up to the same sort of setup we're used to seeing in Wal-Mart electronics departments and other stores everywhere. Tra la la.
- Smwbigboss, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2I think the PS3 one is shorter than the Wii one and it just looks tilted down because of it's angle. (Either that or PS3 is bigger than I expected)
- jbreckman, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2@4889
I believe they haven't even started producing the final PS3s yet... much less the kiosks. The article is clearly bogus since it says that gamestop will be getting them next week. - mchammer, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1Lets say this is true ok why would the nintedo kiosk have the person doing the motion over the monitor thats just dumb. Why would people need to know how to hold and play it? I'm pretty sure non-gamers will be confused on what the second person is about
- sakuraz, on 10/12/2007, -8/+4I've never seen a kiosk with only one specific game theme.
It'll be bad for business.
Couple that with the lack of source, I bet someone on the net elsewhere is laughing his ass off along with his previous "SERECT" scandals:P - incubus13, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2seems like lately all the news with 'wii' on the title turns out to be fake OR inaccurate...
fanboi fever, perhaps?? - nstavros, on 10/12/2007, -5/+0when i mean have one.. i men the press kit
