I'm tired of Nintendo only selling new consoles to sell their regurgitated first party titles, so I ignored the Wii... even though I admit some games look pretty cool. I ignored PS3 because it's simply not near my budget range for video game stuff.

There are tons of PS2 indie games still being developed in Japan right now. (Dreamcast is still alive in Japan. Wow)
Oh, and.... What they SHOULD have done was kept backwards compatibility in all models of the PS3 and stopped selling the PS2 a few months after the PS3 launched. Yes, it would have hurt their cash flow for a bit, but that would have smoothed out and they'd have a larger install base. Instead they're letting their old legacy product cut into their new product's market share, and they continuing to do it.

The console is just too damned expensive, and I honestly don't give two ***** about BluRay. Not at all. The whole BluRay thing rings to me like the PSP movie format, which was a huge pile of fail as well. That said, i've still got my PS2 and I still play it.
Just curious though, what was/is the must-have title for PS3 anyway? For PS2 it was Gran Turismo 3... that was what got me to buy the system. For the PS3 nothing really calls to me. Doesn't seem to be anything terribly interesting on PS3, or enough to justify the high price tag. I mean 60 bucks for an extra controller? Seriously?

The PS2 is the lowest barrier to entry for people picking up their first console, and for people who have been into gaming for a while if their PS2 breaks or they have to part with it for other reasons they're going to buy another PS2 and not a PS3 because the PS3 won't play their existing games.
