Here, have a shovel. (Get it? To bury me.) - TheBritishGuy1, on 10/12/2007, -10/+82Is it opposite day already?
- Brandondork, on 10/12/2007, -14/+77I won one from work in a contest, how sad is that the PS3 is on the same level as a salad shooter and pirates of the caribbean dvd.
- stealth658, on 10/12/2007, -8/+70...who buys hotcakes?
- Ngai, on 10/12/2007, -10/+59Today, there was this little boy at Wal-mart by himself and he asked where the Wii's were and I didn't know because I didn't work there. But the kid insisted and he ran off to the back of the Wal-mart and came back with a white box and it ended up being a Wii... he said there were more in the back.. and when I asked the employee he quickly took the Wii away from the kid, and let me tell ya, his mother was one angry bitch.
Damn Wal-mart. A-holes. - se1zure, on 10/12/2007, -38/+82I think it's safe to say that everyone except the hard-core-rich-and-spiled nintendo fanboys WANTS a ps3. Wether they are willing to pay for it... is another thing.
- WhereAmI, on 10/12/2007, -26/+64I want one. I don't need the distraction nor do I need one now with God of War 2 and Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters taking the little spare time I have.
College == study. - Nobi-Wan, on 10/12/2007, -12/+48Phil Harrison, is that you?
- mojo4126, on 10/12/2007, -3/+36did you just watch Borat? like today?
- g4blows, on 10/12/2007, -6/+37Steal it
- jdaniel284, on 10/12/2007, -12/+42You can clearly see that the next number underneath the "72" will be "9". The numbers are written with a deep black sharpie, so it shows through. This photo has obviously been doctored. Not to mention, a store that size would not be getting "72" units.
- aegis9975, on 10/12/2007, -5/+32All this fanboy propaganda (from all sides) is giving me a headache. Its coming to a point where my knee-jerk reaction on reading anything on Digg is to disregard it entirely and roll my eyes.
- EochaidRiata, on 10/12/2007, -14/+41@Admirabumblebee
You were buried because this is not craigslist. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+24I feel the same way about Ferraris.
- JayD16, on 10/12/2007, -5/+27"You can clearly see that the next number underneath the "72" will be "9". The numbers are written with a deep black sharpie, so it shows through. This photo has obviously been doctored. Not to mention, a store that size would not be getting "72" units."
I was going to shrug that off but I looked at the picture again...
There really IS a 9 there. wtf? - henrythehorse, on 10/12/2007, -14/+33I believe there was a quote by a European retailer in an article I read this morning and it stated they only got 2 Wiis at launch and will be getting 75 PS3s for launch. He also went on to say that Sony was telling retailers that they can nearly have as many units as they can afford to buy. So in comparison Nintendo horribly understocked their systems launch in all territories and mysteriously still can't manufacture aging readily available technology fast enough yet Sony can now pump out a near endless supply worth of PS3s comprised of the most cutting edge technology. Not only does this answer why more people are getting PS3s on day one in Europe but it also raises a very good question about Nintendo's manufacturing of the Wii which smells awful fishy.
- RandomGuySteve, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18I'm wondering if he even played the demo.
- Rocketbird, on 10/12/2007, -5/+21This guy is really bright.
"PS3 Released FRI 72 Available to Pre-order"
caption:
the Newcastle Virgin Megastore still has 73 left to pre-order.
And jdaniel is correct. There's definitely a 9 after 72. - Khabi, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17@scabbers
PS2's break all the time?
Me and a friend both got ours at launch. Mine *JUST* broke maybe a month or two ago, friends is still chugging along. Both with pretty heavy usage. So from what we've seen, they've been rock solid.
I'm only basing this off of my experience, its completely possible that people have had them break more often then normal. But I don't remember seeing any news about mass ps2 recalls or breakage. - wburglett, on 10/12/2007, -7/+21I WANTED THE SALAD SHOOTER. WAAHHHHHHHHHH!
- blackyiraqi, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15yeah, I'm planning on getting one once the price drops.
- jacksons98, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15You played the demo not the retail version. Demo equals unfinished product.
- JayD16, on 10/12/2007, -7/+20"360 has more games including exclusives than the ps3...the ones on both systems are better on teh 360, why would you want a ps3 right now? Wait 2-3 years for good games to come out, then buy it then at $300. The 360 was honestly not that good until a few months ago, good games keep on getting released all the time. And do not give me that i buy it for blueray crap."
Why wait two to three years? Thats a bit extreme don't you think? If I had to guess come Xmas 07 the playing field will be far more level. - drakino, on 10/12/2007, -12/+25Can we please get past this crap now? First it's "OMG, they didn't ship enough to meet demand at launch, they suck". And now it's "OMG they shipped enough to meet demand, they suck." Pick one, not both.
And yes, I own a PS3. And a Wii, and a 360. I'm a gamer, not an internet fanboy looking to bash something. - se1zure, on 10/12/2007, -16/+27yeh, couldn't agree more. Zelda got boring quick, and nobody wants to play wii sports but the people who don't have wii's.
Until SSB brawl, there is nothing remotely worth looking at for the Wii.
I woudl be happy to trade my wii right now for a ps3. - icon7, on 10/12/2007, -8/+19i also have a PS3 and am happy with it considering how early in the game it is. I was going to get a 360 because of all the negative attention that Sony was getting regarding the PS3 on digg and elsewhere, but after I looked at it myself I came to the conclusion that the PS3 would be the better choice for me (already have ps2 games, need wireless internet, want bluray/hddvd).
The negative attention is to be expected since there are millions of xbox 360 owners who just want to reassure themself that they made the right decision by going with the 360. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13This has already been posted on Digg, many times
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+15I want one, i just can't afford one.
- dmason, on 10/12/2007, -9/+19I want one. I just don't want to pay for one.
- jacksons98, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12@hollowgrind Actually I think your statement is completely false. Everyone I know that has a PS3 also has a Wii. The people who are buying the PS3 right now are early adopters who are willing to spend a little extra to have the best technology right now. These same people can usually afford both. I have both and feel very fortunate. I wish everyone could have both because they both offer unique experiences. Would games like Wario, Trauma Center, Wii sports, etc be as fun without WiiRemote? Of course not, but the PS3 does offer other experiences. The AI in Resistance, the graphics and physics of Motorstorm, the beauty of Virtual Fighter, the sense of speed in F1 just aren't possible on Wii. As a side note though my PS3 is probably used 5 to 1 compared to Wii. Wii is in a bit of a rut on games right now, while Sony has been cranking out quite a few hits the last month or two.
- StateofMind09, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12I can't wait until the European numbers come out. Sales numbers aren't as big of news as fanboy pictures though, so keep an eye out.

Most of us consider the xbox 360 to be the main rival to the PS3. Sony has even stated that they like the Wii and think it is really cool. Nintendo's attitude towards Sony is completely different though, they despise them.
- Khabi, on 10/12/2007, -6/+14Why is he getting dugg down? He admits to owning all 3 systems, you can't possibly think he's a fanboy. That and he makes a valid point. From one owner of the game 'trifecta' to another.. I salute you sir.
- Carg0, on 10/12/2007, -16/+24that's because they know what they're really buying is this:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/7118802@N05/405071480/ - EochaidRiata, on 10/12/2007, -11/+19Haven't they shipped about 3x as many Wiis as PS3s?
Who would have though in October that the Wii would be the fastest selling console in history?
Nintendo probably didn't even plan on manufacturing 6 million units the first year, let alone the first 4 months. The Wii has already outsold what took the Gamecube two full years. I'd give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they were caught off guard just like the rest of us, rather than attributing it to some conspiracy. - icealchemist, on 10/12/2007, -6/+13That image looks photoshoped.
- zepolen, on 10/12/2007, -5/+12The PS3 is going to make a comeback.
I don't own a PS3 but I've played on one, it's ***** awesome. I bought a Wii at christmas (got dragged in by the hype), the Wii is a really fun console, and the VC just gives it that nostalgia angle but games on the Wii don't grip me, and at the moment it's gathering dust.
I remember whenever I bought a PS2 game, I would play it at first for at least 3 months, and then return to them occasionaly every couple of months, GT3, MGS2 were just a couple like that - Now if the PS3 get's just one exclusive (probably the best console game series there is: Metal Gear) then PS3 will get a huge jump. If it gets Gran Turismo too...well then it's over, the PS3 will be a success. - tarynme, on 10/12/2007, -7/+13Recently sold my Wii. Not interested in getting it back.
- dennyn, on 10/12/2007, -8/+14Dude Nintendo has the biggest fanboys EVER, I dont favor toward any system really my room mates and I have all 3, and I know the Wii is collecting dust right now while the other 2 arent so.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7considering the fact that you don't know the difference between "know" and "now", I think you shouldn't be talking
Go back to fourth grade please - MeanGeno, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8I bought a Wii about 2 months ago at Sams club along with Zelda and it's okay. But I'm thinking of selling it and buying either a 360 or a ps3. The wii just doesnt have that many great games. I'm not a big metroid fan, so i would not get that, the only good one I would wnat is mario galaxy.
And for the love of god stop bashing the ps3 without actually playing it for more than 1 hour. I'm over at my friends house recently and it looks great. Just wait until kill zone 2 - rzurad, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8@se1zure
Uh, who wouldnt trade a Wii for a PS3? Thats a $600 dollar console for $250 bucks. Trade it and then go buy another one :) - tgunner, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6There's piles of Wii's and PS3's and XBOX 360's around here. I was even thinking of buying them for people elsewhere, but I figured that they had just as many... I guess I was wrong.
- tackt, on 10/12/2007, -12/+16Haha, what's so funny about your 'the Wii only outsold the PS2 by 50k last month' is that the PS2 outsold the PS3...
- kidmaninwar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4school gets in the way of college!
- Nobi-Wan, on 10/12/2007, -6/+10"You can clearly see that the next number underneath the "72" will be "9". The numbers are written with a deep black sharpie, so it shows through. This photo has obviously been doctored. Not to mention, a store that size would not be getting "72" units."
Are you serious? It's a ONE with the little mark at the top. The number following 72 would be 71. But you can still think it's a 9. - Elranzer, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7I must be old. College was all about beer and Mario Kart 64, back in my day (2000 - 2004).
- nytejade, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9Oh, you still can't find a Wii?
Don't be too upset. I'm sure one of your friends owns a Wii and doesn't play it because he's already beaten Zelda. Just ask him to borrow the game and console for a few weeks so you can play it too.
Why do these anti PS3 stories ALWAYS get dugg? You're all going to be eating your feet when the good games come out.
p.s. I own a PS3 and a Wii, so don't even try it. - Ngai, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7don't be sad, be glad...
you saved yourself about 600 dollar burgers! - dmclone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I just bought a PS3 yesterday. Try playing a Wii on a projector with a 100" screen and you'll see why it's so cheap. For me it was the only choice. Blue Ray, HD games, HDMI, wireless internet, etc. My local BB was sold out of them but Target right next door had 2 available.
If I had a 25" TV I'd probably save myself some money and buy the Wii. -
