http://forums.illidrama.com/showthread.php?t=1826 - acceptab1euname, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7i was waiting for the inevitable comment from the MMORPG'er who takes their gaming way too seriously....lighten up dude, we all have to go sometime. at least this way the person will be remembered for a little while longer before fading into obscurity like every single other person who has ever died on this hunk of rock we call 'earth'.
"Considering their is a video of it and I would guess tons of text logs, you all should get band for this crap."
hell, i wouldnt mind getting a band for laughing at some ***** getting ***** with. seriously, who the hell would hold such an event in an open PVP area, ask people not to ***** with them, and then act so surprised when they got ***** with? those people were stuipd as hell and deserved exactly what they got. Can we specify the genre that the band plays, though? i've got a thing for samba, but i can live with like a classic 'big band' provided it comes with a good singer.... - antipro, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4A girl?!! ***** that's not funny at all then.
Other female potential gamers are gonna see this and be turned away.
Damn you all. - LoneStar, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6ahah that's pretty sad though, the guy died in real life and the jerks ruined the funeral
- thenorwegian, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6uh...the freaks were holding a 'fake' funeral in a freaken video game. i think its horrible the guy died- but seriously, these weirdos take things way too far- online funerals? in world of warcraft? i thought what Serenity did was ***** but funny
- drunkJerkface, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5That is great! Maybe now we can forget about that whole Leeroy Jenkins thing...
- MattZed, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3bahaha, as sad as the person being dead is, its really the people who had an in game funeral and expected not to be messed with.. i can appreciate the fact that they admit to being *****.
if i ever met them 'irl' i'd give em props for that stunt. - wwaxk09, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I disagree.. with... well, ALL of you really.
To those of you who crashed the funeral, or think its good/funny:
It is not funny to have done this. These are real people mourning the passing of someone in a way they felt to be appropriate. A failure to respect that shows lack of basic human decency.
To those of you who think the opposite:
It was not a good idea to have held it in this way, and then to be outraged that ppl don't behave as they would in rl. WoW isn't RL - that's the whole point.
Why don't you all look on it in this way: the fact that the 'funeral' caused some full-on PvP on the PvP world this person had spent so much of his time was probably the most appropriate thing that could have happened - if it were me organizing the funeral, I would have sent a massive raid on a major city, in keeping with the ethos of the server and the player. If you believe that people still know things after their death, you can bet that any dedicated PvPer would be laughing his socks off at the fun and games that ensued and the deaths of all those gate crashers. - thenorwegian, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4first off its 'banned...' not band. second, get a freaken life dude- seriously. whoever came up with the idea to have a funeral in a video game has no life whatsoever. I am embarrassed for all of you. If this girl was a true friend you would have flown your asses to where she lives and attended the real funeral.
- Jabarr, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1You are a tool. Its a video game you adolescent drama queen. Jesus, grow a pair. Their own idiocy caused their downfall.
"Its special, PLEASE DONT RUIN IT." gee, I wonder if anyone really gives a *****? - Cerberus047, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3fuuuuuuuny!!!! but sad... and yeah if you did show respect send some money to the family get off of wow for a month and send them the money you would use instead!
- c0ugar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm not even a WoW player, personally I think it's pathetic, but to those who think this is funny/good thing I ask you 1 question:
You like the fact that a group of strangers, cause that is what they are, ruined the only funeral that her online friends could realistically attend?
If you answer that with anything other than a "no" then you fail at being a human being and one day you'll pay for that mindset.
To those who crashed the funeral - May god have mercy on your souls. - theratdotus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2im a scat man!
- syphonist, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Thats was some funny funny stuff. The video was perfect, the build up was great. lmao still
- drunkJerkface, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3This is the most useful comment I've seen on digg. digg this guy up!
- antipro, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3ITS A ROLEPLAYING GAME, YOU ROLEPLAY.
these people met online. Their friendship is online. It would be very unpractical to have to commute across the country(or world) or a RL funeral.
It makes sense to have an online funeral if you have an online life. - Jabarr, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Who gives a *****.
- AzuraAzelle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I heard that her sister was the one on her account...I'm not actually sure.
I think it was a nice idea to have an online funeral, and while they might not have expected a raid to occur, in a good way, it helps keep her around longer for people to remember. Yes its kind of funny how it happened, but not to the point that people become jerks about it.
And it doesn't really matter how she died...the fact is she's not there any more. - jafojsharp, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I have to agree to a point. At first I thought wow what a bunch of d*cks!!! Then I read something similar to what's said above. The girl who died loved the PVP of WOW, so what better way to sign off then have a huge PVP war. Plus, for those who didn't read up on this in the forum boards, the girl totally nailed that other quild with a bunch of flame bait, so in a way they got there're just desserts with this.
Anyway, I played WOW up to a LVL 43 and figured out at that point that RL is way better and worth more of my time.
God, whoever mentioned Weddings in UO, I remember crashing those and geting jailed up for a while. "OoooOOOooOOOooOOOOoooOOOoo" LMAO - scubasteve03, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1That's exactly right! You roleplay! So how were the alliance not roleplaying when they ambushed a poorly defended congregation of horde? If I were an alliance commander, I would take that oppurtunity as a chance to leverage my position in a contested territory.
- jafojsharp, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1By and BTW, who the hell was controlling her character? Did someone digg her up for it. JK, seriously I never gave my WOW password to anyone. Was her last dying words "The password is super-cali-frag-alistic-expealidocious, I'm logging out now...Blechhh!!
- Jabarr, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0If they gave a damn about her. They would fly their pathetic asses out there. Thats embarassing to say "The only funeral they could realistically attend"
If they have time to sit around and play ***** video games, they have time to fly their asses out there and show some god damn respect.
How ***** pathetic. - Rupan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Its fake up down left and right fake. These two or three guilds where thinking "Hey its been enough time since the Leeroy Jenkins thing, what could we do for a promo that wouldn't be instantly linked with that?" Thus the funeral video. It is the new Jenkins.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1"get band for this" lol!
- Moogle, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2This is just mean. Whoever did the raid against the people, deserve to get punished.. This is just not nice. How about, your mom who plays WoW dies, then you hold a memorial for her on WoW... Then some idiots come and kill everyone attending. How would you feel? Sick bastards.
- Nantronic, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0I have no sympathy for such a dumb bitch. Her reason of death was horrible, possibly #1 on Darwin Awards. Her boyfriend leaves her, her solution? Let's not eat or really do anything for 3 days but play WoW! What a stupid idiot. If she died from a seizure/stroke due to dehydration, after a mere 20-24 hours of no fluids she would have headaches strong enough for her to scream. Basically I view this as a suicide.
Also, she was younge, she lived with her parents. How the hell could her parents not notice the fact she's acting as though she's on acid, and is very weak and hasn't eaten dinner in 3 days?
I don't feel bad for her funeral's raid.
1. It's a ***** game, shouldn't really be holding funerals in a game. Kind of disrespective.
2. If you cared that much about her, as to propose suit against the raiders, FLY YOUR ***** ASS
TO HER REAL LIFE FUNERAL. - gladding, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0that's gold, jerry... GOLD!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3Wow, that was awesome and completely *****. Really, just dont take it seriously, and its real funny. Sad the guy died "irl", but this is still funny.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2It was a girl who died. Personally I do think it was a crappy thing to do but at the same time I laughed at the video. I think it may have been the sound track that did it for me.
- rowlodge, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2that was kinda cool in a goulish way? they should've had security..what am i talking about?
- FreyrVanir, on 10/12/2007, -7/+4Fayejin rest in peace. To the people who crashed this funeral you all failed at life. I'm sad that I have to share air with all of you. This is some really sub human *****.
Considering their is a video of it and I would guess tons of text logs, you all should get band for this crap. - acceptab1euname, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2hahahahaha oh man!
they have been trolled, they have lost!
wish i had the money and time to spend on WoW, i'd buy a copy and join their guild just because of that video
