I am huge into Home Theater and I totally agree the xbox360 has been a huge addition to my Home Theater :-) Its sad, but true. I stream 1080p content to it and lossless music. It sounds much better than comming straight from my HTPC.. maybe my sound card blows I don't know, I just know its night and day difference. - mikeazorin, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I stream videos and VNC my way all the way around my home network.
- zaibatsu, on 10/11/2007, -2/+11I've got a videoserver hooked up to the 61 inch. But It's a big ugly box. However I do find it funny when friends drop by and ask were is the DVD Collection or where are your racks of CDs. I just point to the box and grin!!!
- SupaDawg, on 10/11/2007, -2/+8XBMC FTW. My home network is entirely xbmc based. 2 xboxes (one in bedroom and another in family room) and one PC sering them up plenty-o-gigs of content.
- jasonliman, on 10/11/2007, -6/+1and 100% of male use internet for porn.
- dvsbastard, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Interesting read... but also completely useless!

"Ssso?" - ChaoticCheez, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8The other 2/3 is dedicated to sharing their internet with anyone who comes within signal of their WiFi free of charge! :)
- mhearne, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Don't permit DHCP on your network. It's really simple to set up a static network.
Guests can easily be assigned a temporary number.

- VinceNoir, on 10/11/2007, -2/+8My home network is a gigabit copper network with two lines between the basement and attic closets. One network is used for general network stuff:
NFS file serving
X window application serving (and VNC)
Network block device to share the DVD drive in the laptop with any other machine in the house (not file sharing but device sharing)
Network block device for hosting the filesystems of my Xen virtual machines on three Xen hosts
Typical DNS, NTP, DHCP stuff
Firewalled with a custom Linux box
External network services like Web, Mail and DNS for my private domain
A darknet served up by OpenVPN
In general, your typical home network, if you know what you're doing...- sh3p, on 10/11/2007, -1/+0gobble.
- Snakedal337, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9well isnt your penis just huge.
- VinceNoir, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Cute comment. But... I was simply pointing out what an average guy with a network at home does. I'm not a coder or a geek. Just a "Joe Average" who has found that Linux is way easier than Windows to make full utilization of a home network. That point seems to have been lost on you Mr. Ubuntu avatar...
- Daiken, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2How the Hell does Zaibatsu always have 2 or 3 stories on the front page at almost all times? Stop digging this spammer!
