- bigbadgoat, on 10/11/2007, -2/+127I dont see why this is a big deal.
Did Nintendo continue to produce the classic DS after they released the DS lite?
It does the exact same thing, and will be no more expensive than the original.
please, tell me what the problem is.- MouseCircus, on 10/11/2007, -23/+6I read the article as quickly as I can, since I lack interest in the subject, but....
From what I saw, no one is claiming that it's a problem. They're just saying that the old PSP will no longer be sold. Maybe you're the one seeing a problem where there is none.- bigbadgoat, on 10/11/2007, -1/+38well this article is obviously riding on the coat-tails of the 60 GB PS3 being phased out, and with all the negativity that topic has generated, and the reference to it with the "ALSO" the title gives the impression that this is actually a bad thing.
- frygar, on 10/11/2007, -3/+21It's one of Sony's SKUs;
it too, is being phased out (for reals this time, honest!) to make way for a new version, and
did I mention it's Sony? Hence, it is positively, absolutely, a *negative* thing by proxy.
/SARCASM - Alegoo92, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9Exactly, this is ridiculously non-newsworthy
- Jeffler, on 10/11/2007, -7/+1Actually, Nintendo does still produce the old DS...
- apena89, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0proof?
- MouseCircus, on 10/11/2007, -23/+6I read the article as quickly as I can, since I lack interest in the subject, but....
- Mc_Carter, on 10/11/2007, -1/+36do they still make the original ps2's? cause if they do i want one.
- ruddy, on 10/11/2007, -5/+4i run linux and saved games on my old ps2's hard drive, but its exclusive to the old kind cuz u need the expansion slot for ur hdd.
- BIGmog, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6Nope. Sony doesn't produce the original PS2 anymore. Just the slim line.
- apena89, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0i have produced 1. bid?
- madoc12349, on 10/11/2007, -24/+4Pressing issue for me: Will the UMDs still make the sound of a chainsaw?
Cause the only use for a PSP is trimming your hedges.- apena89, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0chainsaw? wtf were you wearing a hearing aid while playing your PSP?
- evi1, on 10/11/2007, -1/+12Article would be better with pics.
- chris9902, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6are you joking? here: http://images.google.co.uk/images?q=psp
- Eddible, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Aww it's true, books without pictures can be hard.
- levitron, on 10/11/2007, -7/+2**Breaking story*** Price cut announced for PSP
- MiserJ, on 10/11/2007, -0/+25Thank you Captain Obvious. Does this come as a surprise to anyone?
I can only see people from the homebrew community still wanting the old ones due to certain firmware. - johnIRL, on 10/11/2007, -9/+7Front page with 30 Diggs? This weighting system needs fixing...
- addysonclark, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10DIGGS =/= VIEWS
- spiritamx79, on 10/11/2007, -2/+8non-news.... buried as lame
- RickyBennett, on 10/11/2007, -6/+1just as long as the new umd will work in the old psp thay can do what thay want
p.s. i steel cant leave any comments to any one what is up with that - nolesshabitual, on 10/11/2007, -0/+13shouldn't this be titled "60gb ps3 to be discontinued, oh and one little blurb about psp, with no pictures"
- Eddible, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Why do you so desperately need a photo?
- cg0def, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1No it shouldn't because the 60gb PS3 is not being discontinued. And if you really want pictures there is google. Plus this whole article should really get buried. It's simply stupid attempt at getting better digg ratings from a total loser.
- hiro, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Obviously ...
- loganhid, on 10/11/2007, -2/+13anything that seems anti-Sony will get to the front page on digg guaranteed
- johnIRL, on 10/11/2007, -6/+1Or anti-Microsoft, although iv no problem with that... LINUX FTW! ha
- Sniper, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9How is this news?
- slaystench, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9I'm simply shocked by these turns of events.
- flair1, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2sony wants to curb piracy? stop the presses!
- Yareking, on 10/11/2007, -5/+2no pic no digg
- krustytroll, on 10/11/2007, -6/+0if the 60gb ps3 is gonna be discontinued, what's gonna replace it?
- carpespasm, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4the 80gb with software ps2 emulation
- apena89, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0oh wow software emulations? *****!
does that mean % of working PS2 titles on a PS3 will be less?
and more firmware updates for PS3 to add/fix PS2 emulation?
- apena89, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0oh wow software emulations? *****!
- carpespasm, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4the 80gb with software ps2 emulation
- readme, on 10/11/2007, -4/+3omg sony is teh ebil! come on OP, what did you think?
- darknailblue, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7That was kind of silly. The article talks about ps3 the whole time and makes 1 mention of the PSP at the end... Misleading headline I'd say...
- ScotchInBox, on 10/11/2007, -4/+1Quick, someone hit the snooze button. The only think that's missing from this lame story is BREAKING or !!!!!
- Spik3balloon, on 10/11/2007, -1/+20Where's the "Bury as 'No ***** Sherlock'" option?
- GenoBaby, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6What would be the point of reproducing the old PSP. The new one has a better battery life... it's lighter... and the load times are faster as well as new features. I don't know anyone that would rather buy the old PSP. That's like buying a DS Phat now with the DS lite available.
- carpespasm, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2once the homebrew scene has caught up and unlocked it yes, but the older ones are still gonna be better for that for a while.
- smackhero, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2exactly. it doesn't make sense to continue producing the older version that is inferior and probably costs the same (or more) to manufacture. it's just like when they occasionally upgrade the components and improve the internal design of any console--they start upgrading all their manufacturing plants to produce parts for and put together the new revision of the hardware.
- Snakedal337, on 10/11/2007, -4/+4I'm tired of this. I hate to link to a blog, but it does a good job of explaining the "60 Gigabye Phase Out"
http://www.hardcoreware.net/rumor-control-60gb-ps3-is-going-nowhere/
Read it. Or go to joystiq and get it right from the horses mouth. The 60 gig is going NO WHERE. The PSP is getting switched like the PS2, and the PS1 before that.
You people need to ***** chill, for how much you all hate sony, you seem to invest an awful lot of attention into rumors, hearsey and FUD- McTendo, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3I read it and it was a complete waste of my time.
It was an old article before the video and confirmation from Kaz himself. Also, the people of that article didn't even bother to do a ***** update on it informing us about what happened afterwords.- Snakedal337, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Wow, I hadn't see that video.
I stand corrected, and retract all past statement.
- Snakedal337, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Wow, I hadn't see that video.
- McTendo, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3I read it and it was a complete waste of my time.
- everlast88, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5OMG NO! THE PSP IS GOING TO BE SMALLER AND MORE EFFICIENT! WHAT IS SONY THINKING!
i agree with Snakedal1337, you all need to shut up - Eddible, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4This is hardly news, I'd have been amazed if Sony had continued to produce the old-style PSP.
- rubbers0ul, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6uhh duh?
- themoose, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3No *****. PSP2 is an upgrade, not a new console.
- iZealot, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5(Fred) Who diggs this crap?
(Todd) Trolls most likely.
(Fred) Oh. Guess I should keep the toilet seat down at night.
(Todd) Yep. - iamjero, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Also? What else also is phased out? Oh thats right, the 599 version of the 60gb. Now they have a 499 version. Sweet.
Buried for being lame. And when i say lame, i mean fanboy. - HappyScrappy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Of course it is. There are plenty of PSPs on shelves, by the time they run out of what they have, the new one will be ready.
This is only bad news if you like your PSPs more expensive, with shorter battery life and thicker (or perhaps with an IR port which hackers have employed). - samdu, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Why anyone is surprised by this is beyond me.
- Zap2, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4No ***** sherlock!
- RyanSilva, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1Can't wait for the new model.
http://hazegaming.com - chandler55, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1at least this is the good phase out kind
- alx242, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Well, good then!
- goliath553, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Now that i have a fairly large hdtv and an xbox 360 my psp is a paperweight... this new version even more so. Sony is going down hard.... They just keep making one bad decision after another.... I guess they can afford to suffer a few financial losses.
