- Gnome1300, on 10/12/2007, -0/+38Now, this would be both appropriate and wonderful!
- VitaminK, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20Apparently inaccurate:
"Officially we have no plans for Okami on Wii at this time. Research and development are always looking at possibilities but given Clover is now closed for business, I think it highly unlikely a Wii version would be possible," an unnamed Capcom UK rep told IGN. - quaunaut, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Doesn't mean you can't port. Usually side companies do ports anyhow.
- Philodox, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9One slight problem is that the studio that made Okami has been shut down.
- seanthebond, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Well, this is from IGN, not some random blog/site. If it was from GoNintendo or something, I would be a little more cautious (even though it is still a great site). But if IGN says it, the chances of it being true are more likely.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Wow...that would be awesome. The Wii mote would ork perfectly for the drawing in Okami. Although with Clover Studios shut down after they release the PAL verison of Okami, who would develope for the Wii?
- Paroparo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Even if would be "only a port" I'd sure as hell get it. Very interested if this goes anywhere.
- cliffy2000, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5@scabbers: By "that mysterious company," you mean Tose. Which every know-it-all on the internet knows about because of a recent article on 1up. (see: http://www.1up.com/do/feature?cId=3156447 )
- scabbers, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5It depends who owns the rights. A port can be done by anyone... especially by that mysterious company the games companies farm a lot of work out to.
- Septimus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Dugg out of blind optimistic hope.
- quaunaut, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5They may, but they may also recognize the huge market of those who bought Zelda- Okami being such a similar game, and even better for the Wii, could be a huge, huge potential sales boost.
- Baku, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It seems that Okami won't be heading to the Wii, according to Capcom:
CVG called Capcom UK in the hunt for more info but was given the same official line: "There are currently no plans to bring Okami to Wii."
Source: http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=158000 - guitarh3ro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Unfortunately, it's not likely.
Capcom: "Officially we have no plans for Okami on Wii at this time. Research and development are always looking at possibilities but given Clover is now closed for business, I think it highly unlikely a Wii version would be possible," - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I'm still really doubtful that it will happen, but would LOVE to see Okami on Wii. Somebody needs to make it happen, somehow. I'd buy it in a heartbeat, and I'm sure many of the million+ people who loved Zelda on the Wii would too.
- Aokami, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Dugg in hopes of future hot Nintendo on Clover action.. stupid Capcom.
- ErinIsADrunk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I already own Okami but if it did get ported to the Wii I would pick it up too just to play it with the Wii controls. Okami is already an amazing game and it could only get better on the Wii with the Wiimote
- levyjl1988, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If Capcom misses to release Okami for the wii, it would be a big mistake and losses in sales.
- NetPhantom, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3read the article... it clearly says in the official quote that it's not happening...
"Officially we have no plans for Okami on Wii at this time. Research and development are always looking at possibilities but given Clover is now closed for business, I think it highly unlikely a Wii version would be possible." - KyleMistry, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I know it's just a rumour.
And I know that Clover Studios has been shut down.
And I know that Capcom hasn't been very supportive of the Wii as far as games for the audience older than the age of 10 go.
But man, it would be so incredibly wonderful if none of that mattered and Okami made it to the Wii. - mikeyeah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1A match made in heaven.
- mmm_linux, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3am i the only one that wants locoroco for the wii?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well, Halo almost happened on the DS.
- WhereAmI, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The game company that made Okami shut down. Of course this was just a division of CAPCOM right? So its still possible...
- stewacide, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1OMG PLEASE HAPPEN!!!
I don't have a PS2 anymore, and I wouldn't want to try the painting mechanic with that controller anyway if it was coming to Wii.
Digg UP!!! - yoodle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I, for one, would be quite willing to repurchase this game for my Wii if it came out. I purchased it originally to tide me over until Twilight Princess, but I found that in some respects it was an equal, if not superior game.
- kazuhima, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2no. i wish it would come out for the wii too >
- Cyber_Akuma, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1So basically...
"We at IGN, even though hundreds of our rumors have been wrong in the past (*cough*, region-free Wii, *cough*), believe that a completely anonymous and unknown source that isn't even related to Capcom says a Wii version of the game is being made, even though in this very article itself was have a quote from Capcom themselves saying that Clover is dead, they have no further plans for Okami, and a port of the game would be highly unlikely."
That might not be the exact wording of the article but I think its close enough. - ExZen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I don't understand, the only official quote in the article says that its probably NOT going to happen, and yet the author speaks as if it were likely going to happen....
- protogenxl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Closing down Clover is a big mistake for Capcom. But then again according to the press release dissolution was scheduled for the end of march so there is still time to stop the closing and re-open the studio.
- PureGamer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Okami was fun, but I wouldn't buy it for the Wii to play it again. The game was way too easy and hand holding. There was nothing to figure out for yourself. I liked it and thought it was worth playing once, as it was a really fun game, but twice? Also, why is Clover shutting down? They make awesome games.
- Ndiggnation, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's because Clover made awesome games that nobody buys. I have more than one Clover game, so I don't know why..but that's the sad truth.
- Jarasmen, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Do you people even read those articles?
1. Yes, Capcom said, that oficially it's not making Okami Wii. Is Okami Wii in prodution? OFICIALLY not, at least nothing we should be informed of at the moment, which MAYBE doesn't mean that it is not. Thus it's considered a rumour.
2. Most members of Clover are now Capcom employees and also porting a game doesn't really require the same team.
3. In the WHOLE discussion in which it was implied by a Capcom employee that the Wii is a "kiddy" console there is more information (if only somebody cared to read it). The most important: Capcom considers the Wii player base as wide in terms of age, so it plans to offer mostly games that can be played by people of all ages (and not, say, Teletubbies Wii). There are "adult" games in development (Resident Evil anyone?), they're just not the top priority. Saying that, it is possible for Okami Wii to be made (as well as Dead Rising Wii, which was asked in the discussion and left ambigous with "cannot say anything at this time" - so it's not a "no"). - deepmenace, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2how many of you have acutally played Okami?
having the wiimote to do the drawing would add probably nothing to the gameplay of this admittedly wonderful game.
the wiimote is only going be brilliant in games where the game is based around the wiimote not where the wiimote is added to an already brewed game recipe. - YouRookies, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0And bring back Godhand and Viewtiful Joe!
- DrumInfected, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I am a owner Okami for ps2 and loved the game. I have not beat the whole game yet and far from it. One thing I don't like is the ps2 analog controller and doing the brush techniques felt OK but not as great as if I was using a Wii remote and nunchuck or a stylus on the DS. I remember talking to my brother about how kewl it would be if this was on the DS (this was before the wii was out) Okami is collecting dust right now, but if it came out for the Wii I would pick it up in a heartbeat. Okami and the Wii were made for each other. You think it wouldn't be THAT hard to do it either. All you have to redo is the controls. Wish we could get like a petition or something we could all sign. Maybe one day ey?
- jgood2709, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i'd buy it.
- crossers, on 07/21/2008, -0/+0oh it's a serious step! good work and it is grate for me!

http://www.pmidsig.org - averagemario, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Great idea, but it would be a huge improvement if they get rid of that little douchebag Issun, or at least rewrote his part.
- Wytefang, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Wait, using the controller to draw on the screen in order to achieve a specific result was innovative for Okami? Didn't Black & White do this years before that? I think so. While I could appreciate the artistry of the game, overall it was just another so-so platformer albeit with a nifty twist and oh-so-annoying in-game voices. It was ten times worse than Simlish (the goofy faux language of The Sims) and infinitely annoying. It was annoying enough that I gladly returned the game the day after trying it out for trade credit at Gamestop. Ugh.
- JoyrexJ9, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Yeah and Duke Nukem Forever is coming to the Wii along with Halo 3 & 4 ;)
Never. Going. To Happen. - JimmyJJWalker, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4The game would fit perfectly, but what's with the rash of rumors recently.
- diggaro, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0I love Okami. I think he'd make a great president.
- guitarh3ro, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1You know what else would be so incredibly wonderful and probably won't happen?
Halo for the Wii (or DS). - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1"Color us excited"?
Bwahahahaha that is the most overtly gay sounding expression in the history of the world. - blofeld9999, on 10/12/2007, -6/+4This will never happen. Capcom believes the Wii is for 6 - 10 year olds (http://www.destructoid.com/capcom-wii-is-4-teh-kiddiez--29772.phtml).
Instead of Okami, we can expect a Hello Kitty Island Adventure clone or something. - probune, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Okami did not sell on a console with 120 million+ units around the world, so why would they put it on a console with a fraction of the userbase? Because people think the drawing mechanic would work well with the Wiimote?
