Oh, so it was TECHNOLOGY that was holding them back this whole time. TECHNOLOGY! - Gremlinclr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+37@CapeKid
Buried as inaccurate: Duke Nukem Forever is never being released.
There, fixed that for ya. - CapeKid, on 10/12/2007, -7/+38Buried as inaccurate: Duke Nukem Forever is never being released for any console.
- CattyKid, on 10/12/2007, -1/+26Crimson Skes was a great game. There is a reason it came with the Xbox Live One Year Starter Pack. It was at the time one of the best games to play on Xbox Live. Live really shined with Crimson Skies on the Xbox.
- GunbladeVIII, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18Er... Duke Nukem Forever is a secret???
- Saunka, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17You were good in Fight Club. Meet Joe Black...not so much.
- wild, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15Its new to me!
- DarkJC, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15World of Warcraft: Azeroth Adventures? Duke Nukem Forever? How can anyone take this list seriously?
- threepio, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Crimson Skies is a blast - and it's BC, so there's 360 goodness. The question, of course, is "what the hell is Duke Nukem Forever doing on that list?" Who's trying to keep that secret? It's be great if the game were launching anytime soon, but good lord, it's been in development longer than most diggers have been alive.
- GorGenator, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Actually he's right... Warcraft II was supposed to be in modern day, with Warcraft monsters... Which is what Hellgate is, its basically a modern day Diablo/WC
- tacroy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11These all seem rather questionable. Maybe a early april fools? For example (found on wikipedia): The April 2006 issue of Official Xbox magazine speculated that Bioware, which developed the first game in the series, would develop Knights of the Old Republic 3. The magazine also speculated a 2008 release.[citation needed] This rumor has been debunked by BioWare employees, who have stated on BioWare's official forums that "we are not currently working on KotOR 3" and "if [a sequel is] being done, it's certainly not being done by us."[3]
- Wytefang, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11World of Warcraft is definitely NOT coming out for any console - they've (Blizzard) repeatedly said that in even recent interviews. Dugg down for inaccuracies. And as for Hellgate: London, Bill Roper has said that in the future, with future releases, they may consider Xbox 360 development but not for Hellgate: London. I agree with the other Diggers who've said that this is most certainly an April Fool's joke.
- fotd42, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Agreed. My college roommate had live so we would play crimson skies til our eyes dried.
- graemee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Only the release date. Of course we all know it's infinity.
- lukeamotion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9 I would really like to see it intereact with the PC community.
- DreKor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8i'm not sure if you're being sarcastic or not.
However, I really didn't see that coming but I can't say I'm surprised. FTA it sounds like it's not going to be integrated with the current game. That might kill it for the console. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7World of Warcraft?
i didn't see that one coming - DeepDoo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9I actually thought you were best in 12 Monkeys
- jon314, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6>> "3: Duke Nukem Forever- The 10-years-in-the-making sequel to the 1996 industry- defining hit Duke Nukem 3D can finally meet its goals now that technology is available that will help the game redefine first-person-shooter interactivity like its predecessor. Game developer 3D Realms is probably keeping it hush hush until they pin down a release date for the PC version."
I hear it will come with a free flying car, a personal android, a good movie by Uwe Boll, and a research paper on how to test string theory. - saska, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6"full details will be in the April issue" ... I can't believe this didn't set off more alarm bells.
The only question is whether xbox-scene got taken or they're taking us. - Bahimiron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5As much as I would /love/ the first two to be true?
The last one on the list makes me think it's all a bunch of *****. - GorGenator, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Sorry, I just missed the edit timer
http://arstechnica.com/journals/thumbs.ars/2007/03/01/7277 - totorototoro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Yeah, not sure about that list now...notice the Knights of the Old Republic one is just a rumor as well.
- Cyber_Akuma, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3And the article slowly degenerates into a bunch of Duke Nukem Forever jokes that are almost as old as the game itself...
- chaosium, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Why else would they have dumped every engine they came across?
- trunk8, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@GorGenator
Yes, but did you see the follow-up article:
http://arstechnica.com/journals/thumbs.ars/2007/03/08/bill-roper-sets-the-record-straight-hellgate-london-sprang-from-the-mind-of-david-brevik-not-from-warcraft-ii-concepts - skaface69, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3i really think that Microsoft needs a big MMO over xbl. It would be perfect for a mmo. I know that FFVIXIIX: the attack of the androgynous male characters, and PS:Galaxy are on xbl, but they both suck balls.
- strictnein, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7@NeoOfTheSith
WTF? Have you ever even played Warcraft? - gage006, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Exactly. It's an April Fools joke. There's no way either of those games will come out on a console.
- darkstar949, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@gage006 - Hellgate:London might, but it's pretty much the only game on that list that I would put any faith in to seeing on a 360.
- masona3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Complex MMOs such as WoW will never be ported to consoles due to control interface restrictions. It's just not going to happen. Buried as inaccurate.
- chakl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@GorGenator
It actually wasnt, it was a misinterpretation of what he said.
You might wanna check this out: http://digg.com/gaming_news/Bill_Roper_says_Hellgate_London_Was_Never_A_Failed_Warcraft_II_Concept - wunch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The fact that Hellgate: London is coming out is not the secret. The rumored secret is that it may eventually come out for the 360; it's been know to be coming out for the PC for years.
- Ignathius, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Final Fantasy Online? Everquest Online Adventures? these names ring a bell? they should, as they're both console MMOs.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I totally agree with you and would love to see this. But there just aren't enough consoles out there to support a real MMO without at least releasing it on the PC as well. For instance, the number of copies of WOW sold is approximately 8 million, which almost equals the number of Xbox 360s sold at 9 million.
- acdcfanbill, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Ya I loved the original Crimson Skies when it was on PC. to bad it doesnt play well with new video cards. hopefully they won't forget the PC in their xbox360 lovefest...
- jaundiced, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2April Fools anyone? Do you take yours with or without ice?
- wierdaaron, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Yeah, they're working real hard on keeping Hellgate: London a secret, that's why they had huge displays at the 05 and the 06 E3, with probably about 16 demo units to play and people in red shirts walking around to help people or walk them through the game.
I guess after you were done playing, a guy in an italian suit would come down, kick you in the balls, and tell you not to tell nobody 'bout 'dis secret game. I always seemed to avoid those guys.
In the VG industry, "secret" can often refer to "everybody says our game is ***** so we're keeping it under wraps until we figure out how to fix it in 2 months for 0 dollars'. - Ignathius, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1 World of Warcraft: Azeroth Adventures != World of Warcraft
no more than that Everquest Online Adventures was actual Everquest. just because it carries the same name, doesn't mean it'll interact with the current subscriber base. - kriminalintent, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Made me think they were working on an X-files game for a second.
- protogenxl, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Where is MechAssault 3
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1XBOX 360 Supports a keyboard already, and it would be easy enough to make it support a mouse. They would just restrict the games it worked in...
- BigEv, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm just passing this article off as an April Fool's joke.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I agree that this sounds like an April fools joke. Two games from Blizzard in a years time? They just don't work that fast.
- fuzzmeister, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1In March...
- iRusty, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I loved Crimson Skies and have been dying for a sequel ever since I beat the first game. And who can say no to KOTOR 3? As to whether Duke Nukem Forever or WOW ever gets made on 360, thats up for debate. If these get made though, you won't hear any complaints from my end.
- chakl, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Just to let you guys know this is from the APRIL issue of xbox magazine, meaning this is april fools joke, but because of lead times on periodicals, this one got out early. For all of you who thought Duke Nukem Forever might be coming out, you might want to keep homing.
- TiberiusAudley, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow. They can't even get the Hellgate London information right.
"in which a gate to Hell has ripped open in London in 2028," -- Yeah, it's set in 2038....and the Hellrift opened in 2020. Ten years off in one direction and 8 years off in the other. gj n00bs. LRN2REPORTCORRECTLYK? K.
Secondly: April Fool's Joke. It's the April Issue. - Ignathius, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1World of Warcraft will *never* be released on a console. this is true. however, WoW:AA != WoW
Microsoft has been pushing Blizzard to release WoW on the 360 since WoW was released, and Blizzard has always said 'no'. well, now you can have a wussed down console version, *just* for the 360. and it'll be called World of Warcraft: Azeroth Adventures
and incase you didn't actually read the article:
"World of Warcraft: Azeroth Adventures- Eight million PC gamers paid $50 to own the original World of Warcraft, plus another $15/month to play it. Now, the Xbox 360 version is expected to be its own animal, not a pared down version of the PC game. It seems Microsoft will keep dumping cash on Blizzard's (the developer) doorstep until they agree to create a custom-built-for-360 version of the game. Rumor has it that it will debut for the 2008 holiday season" - Interloper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+02008 holidays? what? And where the hell is Fallout by bethesda that they're going to ruin??
