- FreePlayPSP, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2Jesus, do we really need that? That's sort of the point of Digg.
- Gary13579, on 10/12/2007, -7/+11@FreePlay: How else is Sony expecting to earn a profit off of their consoles if they can't sue small businesses and individuals? Just look at the past...

- WhereAmI, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8I wonder if it can burn UMDs, which getting ahold of blank ones in itself boasts a problem.
- johnsto, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3No, only Sony's production facilities can burn UMDs. The devkits can only read them.
- exsst, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4If this happens, expect to see lots of UMD roms of official games run wild in the warez scene as we are able to play PSP games on our PC's with this emulator.
- johnsto, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3No that won't happen, as the devkit does not allow developers to sign executable code - that is done by Sony.
If that weren't true, we'd have had hundreds of emulators running on non-hacked/cracked/exploited PSPs already. - johnsto, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Misread your post... so, to correct myself:
It doesn't let you run existing UMDs on PCs either - the devkit has it's own PSP attached to it that you play games on. The only way to run a PSP game on your PC is to have compiled it for your PC in the first place (you can not just pop a UMD in and have it work.)
- johnsto, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3No that won't happen, as the devkit does not allow developers to sign executable code - that is done by Sony.
- Gnome1300, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3The e-bay link is quite dead.
- cyberpope, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4The link to the auction's not working -_-
Damn Sony works fast- woogley, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9yeah, just ask Europe how fast PS3 is hitting their shelves
- nicklockwood, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2No he means they work fast AGAINST their consumers, not for them obviously.
- tonyhartfield, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5anyone have a pic of this since the link is dead
- NismoDrift, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1you know.
- daedal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5If this is real, then the seller's name is out there and the unit will eventually be sold OR the seller sued/destroyed by Sony. If talented coders like Fanjita or DarkAlex got their hands on it, the possibilities would be endless.
- johnsto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2No, it would be of very little use to established homebrew authors. They've pretty much learnt all they can already about the hardware and to code for it. That's how the public PSPSDK came about.
- coresnake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Very true. DarkAlex probably knows the psp better than programmers at Sony :S
- danneyboey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5There's an update on their post. Screencap of the eBay auction, woo!
http://psp3d.com/pspdevkit.JPG - johnsto, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5This would be pretty useless to a buyer anyway as they would still not have access to the Sony developer network (which provide all the SDK/tools updates required to use the kit.) and the developed software only runs on the test kit (not a retail PSP.)
You can buy these testkits from Sony anyway for a few thousand pounds/dollars. This is simply a different way to buy one (via auction). Nothing special here really.- dblondon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Good point, indeed it's more of interest to a well heeled collector than to someone trying to actually use it for some practical purpose.
Now if it had a UMD burner that would be different...it would open up lots of possibiliites for reverse engineering :) - nicklockwood, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0...and where would you buy the blank UMDs from?
- dblondon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Good point, indeed it's more of interest to a well heeled collector than to someone trying to actually use it for some practical purpose.
- kylesellers, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Wow, maybe I should try to get all my eBay auctions dugg? Since apparently, everyone forgets what the "Bury as Spam" option is there for.
- frank3000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1anyone want a gamecube dev tool for playing beta(unsigned) games?
