- chocobomog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+40Do you think Blizzard hasn't thought about Diablo 3? Do you think when they get this petition they will suddenly realize, "Oh yea, we have another franchise, let's make a sequel to it"?
Blizzard has planned Diablo 3 since Diablo 2 came out. It may have been on the back burners, but they have had it for a long time and they will premiere it when they feel it is ready. Blizzard is notorious for taking years to bring out a game so they can polish it. I remember waiting many years for Warcraft 3 after seeing the first picture of it. And I first heard about World of Warcraft as a college freshman and it wasn't released until after I had graduated!
So let them know that you are excited about this game, but don't think this petition will change anything. Blizzard knows exactly what they are doing and they will release Diablo 3 when they feel it is ready. - djruden, on 10/12/2007, -2/+29And online petitions ALWAYS work!
- mgainor, on 10/12/2007, -14/+41You're an idiot. Online petitions are idiots.
- gothsquirrel, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14How is any On-line Petition ever "Official." I never got that.
- YumYumKittyLoaf, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13I also heard that the people that worked on Diablo 1 and 2 started their own business (Flagship Studios) and are making something to rival Diablo called Hellgate London (since they can't use the name "Diablo" as a game title since blizzard owns it).
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Uh, it's pretty stupid to think Blizzard WOULDNT make a Diablo 3. It's like deciding not to print money.
- Reap, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11
i think blizzard still has a few years before they can make another starcraft with all the spyware and stuff in the original starcraft i believed they were banned from making another until 2007 or 2008 i think
I've had Starcraft since release (several copies, acctually) and I have NO idea what you're smoking. I don't even know of what you're making fun of.
Normally, I would just discount what you say as irrelevant and, quite frankly, stupid, but I really want to know how you figure. - evilTak, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12World of Starcraft!
- angers, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11that's cause it was cancelled
- Hobbes512, on 10/12/2007, -7/+16IMHO, I think that we need a Starcraft 2 before we need a Diablo 3.
- quentinp, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Try Titan Quest :)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Umm, I'm pretty sure I heard somewhere that Blizzard has already started some preliminary pre-production work on this game...
But if that's wrong, let's remember that Blizzard is a relatively small development studio with numerous franchises, and have to pick and choose what they make and when to make it, since they can't have too many concurrent projects in development at the same time. I think they're more likely to make a sequel to Starcraft than anything at this point. - 0crabby0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Titan's Quest rocks - but I'd still want a Diablo.
- webcrumb, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9"Matter of fact Warcraft is a Warhammer rip off."
Actually, they're both Tolkien rip-offs. Tolkien invented that whole universe, e.g. his publishers tried to correct elven to elfish. Not quite the same now. :) - westwind429, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9I'd kill to see a non-MMO Diablo 3. I still play D2:LoD all the time, and one of the great draws is the ability to play on a LAN with my friends... Good times.
- ayeroxor, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Petitions are for when large groups of people want something accomplished.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Petition
I don't think you'll find any definition that includes the phrase "only for what asstrotrain says they're for". - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8stop the madness with the petitions!
- xcvmvcx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6It uses the same engine as Duke Nuke'em. Can't wait!
- mandarin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Wake up call for what? I think they know that everyone wants Diablo 3.
- super_spyder, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Farscape - Peace Keeper Wars
FireFly - Serenity

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serenity_%28movie%29 - ElectricGrandpa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Dude, there is no way you played starcraft very much. Anyone who has played it online at all knows that ALL of the races are good. Even in *professional* competitive play, some player still choose "random" as their race... Any race can win if they're played right.
Starcraft is by far the best RTS game ever created. - TrainwreckX, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8Blizzard started Diablo 3 over a year ago. Starcraft 2 was also started about the same time WC3 was finished. That's fine if you guys digg me down and don't believe me, but I'd be willing to place a money bet on it if you would like. Starcraft is further along.
- raptordrew, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7I sure as heck want to see a newer Starcraft before Diablo - no offense to Diablo players, it's just long overdue to have an upgraded Starcraft!
- Reap, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Blizzard really needs to wake up; I mean, look at how it is floundering-- they made World of Warcraft and have what, only 6.5 million monthly subscribers? Figure a (very) conservative 12$ a month, they only gross 78 million dollars a month from their main game!
I want Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 as much as anyone (probably more than most), but money talks, and Blizzard is probably pretty deaf at the moment. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6I played Diablo 2 so much the CD exploded in my CD drive.
- drakaan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Okay, so the only time you ever play RTS is against friends, and the game is too slow for you.
There were (if you can believe it) a whole slew of RTS games...Command and Conquer, Starcraft, Warcraft...that many people enjoyed playing (which was why so many of them got made). Some of us *enjoy* playing a game that takes weeks, months, or years to get really good at...figuring out the right balance of hydralisks and zerglings...trying to see if there's a way to actually defend your Protoss encampment from siege tanks with surface-to-air missile support.
You don't understand, and that's fine, but there are *lots* of people who have been waiting a long, long time for Starcraft 2. We might even get lucky and not have to hold our breath anymore after next year:

- priceless721, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4link? oh and by the way i smell *****
- Saint3k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3There's no way that Blizzard will release Diablo 3 while WoW is still making money, to do so would undercut their monthly profits in WoW. The only way around this would be to make Diablo 3 an MMO, then everyone wins.
- westwind429, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Don't forget Tyrael's treachery...an archangel like him that falls could have enough juice to be on the level of a Prime Evil. There are also the lesser evils that are, I'm sure, looking to move up and fill the power vacuum left by the destruction of the Three. The destruction of the Worldstone leaves the world open to assault and assimilation by Heaven and Hell.
There are plenty of plot threads for D3 to pick up. - spyrochaete, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3There are at least 2 Korean TV channels that dedicate over 50% of their airtime to Starcraft competitions. Korea rules!
- estvir, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Titan Quest is indeed excellent.
Other RPG games 'soon.'
Neverwinter Nights 2 - A month or so.
Dark Messiah of Might & Magic - Out this month I believe.
The Witcher - Early next year..
Gothic 3 - It's gone gold and will be out this month.. I think.. - nixdoctor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3In Diablo 1, the end was inconclusive. There were many questions in the game still not answered fully at the end. That left a gap - a perfect stage to launch Diablo 2.
In a similar way, Diablo 2 leaves many questions unanswered. What happened to Baal? Was his soulstone destroyed too? When the worldstone was shattered, what happened after that? Did demons from the hell start infiltrating the earth? Or did Heaven go awry?
There is clear evidence that Blizzard has left the story of Diablo2 at a point where Diablo 3 would pick up. - Reyclaw, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8While I love WoW. I can't even imagine how much fun a D3 MMO would be. =)
- nixdoctor, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Then go do it.
- spyrochaete, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I fail to see any resemblence between oruk'hai, orcs, and orks.
- namelessted, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It is called Hellgate: London. That is the game they want to play
- westwind429, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Didn't those ancient rumors get discredited as coming from some pissed-off ex-tester who felt like screwing with things?
- nixdoctor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2http://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Ablizzard.com+%22diablo+3%22&start=0&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official
But that doesn't tell me anything!!! - LMN8R, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Titan Quest is a bit buggy but definitely awesome :-D
highly recommended! - wolver1ne, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Petition.. come on!
And how the heck is it official? Is it being petitioned by some former member of Blizzard.. or maybe Blizzard itself? Give me a break. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Let me know when there's a petition to bring back the Interstate '76 series.
- priceless721, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3i believe you my starcraft cd exploded it was in a 52X drive and spun up maybe a little too quick and i just heard a loud pop and it was gone and so was the drive
- dogshaft, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5They already did make a Diablo 3. It's called WoW. They simply combined the story line of Warcraft with the gameplay of Diablo 2. Any Diablo 3 would probably resemble WoW, but with a different storyline and universe.
Too bad WoW isn't set up like a game engine, so they could port Diablo AND Starcraft into it. - lh2712, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2http://www.maxfreak.com/diablo3/archives/diablo-3-coming-in-2007/
- webcrumb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"Too bad WoW isn't set up like a game engine"
I thought it used the Warcraft 3 engine? - jk_baller23, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I think they are too busy with the release of The Burning Crusade...and I'm sure the majority of their resources are being put towards WoW. Remember the game called Starcraft: Ghost....
- omnithought, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'm up for it! I also want to see Fallout 3!
- Tebixan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I never understood why they canceled ghost, there was so much player interest in it. People are screaming at blizzard to take their money, and blizzard is ignoring them.
WoW is a lasting revenue source, so unfortunately it seems like its their focus for now. - Kryose, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Diablo 3 would be good, and from what I have heard from Gaming Steve's Podcast (www.gamingsteve.com), they are creating Diablo 3 and have been for a while. This also goes for Starcraft 2. Blizzard goes by the beat of their own drum and will not release any information until they know that it will live up to the Blizzard name. They scrapped Starcraft: Ghost two times. I am talking fully finished working games that were just thrown away because they didn't live up.
I can personally wait, but I really hope that they dont make Diablo 3 a MMOG. I stay away from WoW for just that reason. -
