- Mexrocker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0im happy... now all I want to see is the damn controller... I'm so buying that and maybe the other systems too... cuz I have no social life...
- Tsuroerusu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Awesome move by an awesome company! ;)
I think Nintendo will be doing great with this free game service but also with their online gaming offerings. It's just great that they will offer the players to play Super Smash Brothers, Mario Kart online. If I know Nintendo, they will have a full RPG-fledged Pokemon RPG on the Revolution (Like the upcoming Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness), to those that like Pokemon, which includes myself, imagine playing that online! :D - Bleek-II, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0F-Zero ONLINE!!!
- Thundercat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"They should be free, anyone with a PC that's interested in them already has an emulator and enjoys them for free." Oh yeah, that's definitely the definitive reason why they should be free. People are already stealing bread from your bakery, so you might as well bake the loaves and put them out on the sidewalk. lol I think Nintendo is awesome to offer this feature.
- mragentr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Besides the Gmail "Infinity +1", this is one of the nicest things a large company has done in a while.
- cssdev, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0They should be free, anyone with a PC that's interested in them already has an emulator and enjoys them for free.
- Cam_86, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I was gonna buy the 'revolution' based off nintendo's first party software... So this just sweetens the deal.
This is gonna harm there 'mario golf' 'mario tennis' and 'mario party' line though. There really is very little reason to get the newer version of those games, when the old ones are more or less the same thing, with slightly worse graphics. - Bleek-II, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0F-Zero ONLINE!!!
- Bleek-II, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Gitch???
- cssdev, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Right, I don't take warez into consideration anymore. My idea of free is skewed from reality.
It's FREE hoo-ray, now lets wait for a year after the 360 comes out to enjoy "next-gen" and olde school games. - Thundercat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Lol, I am well aware of what emulation is available, etc. I currently use the latest and greatest for games I own. I am also well aware that I can download movies, albums, software, and books, as well as print my own sheet music and basically ignore and reject every copyright ever made. However, my little cssdev, that doesn't mean I'm entitled to it. Nintendo is making a welcome feature that will impress their current fans and earn them some new ones. There are still SOME honest people out there. My point is, just because you and all those cool "hardcore olde school gamers" [sic] are stealing, it doesn't mean Nintendo has to feel obligated to give it away.
- darkfarmer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0OMG!!!!! this is wierd
Nintendo is giving us mixed messages, since i recently saw a news article that stated (some?) of the downloadable games will not be free!
See for yourslf @ http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3141272 - adml_shake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Looks like nintendo just jumped to the #1 spot on my console list.
- Crumbeast, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"rare made goldeneye and perfect dark on the n64. i wouldn't mind paying for them but microsoft now baught them out"
the games weren't published by rare, they were published by nintendo. nintendo retains those publishing rights, and can do as they please. - cssdev, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Oh yeah, that's definitely the definitive reason why they should be free. People are already stealing bread from your bakery, so you might as well bake the loaves and put them out on the sidewalk."
Day old bread is free if you look for it, not my point though.
All of the hardcore olde school gamers are already playing Roms for free on the PC, Xbox and any other platform an emulator is available for. So I don't see many olde school enthusiasts running to buy a "Revolution" so they can play Roms they've already set speed records on with their PC. On the other hand, for complete idiots like yourself it's cool, you'll be a hip, retro, rad dude with it. Enjoy the wait, it's over a year from now... - Erit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0cssdev, just because you can emulate it doesn't make it "free" or legit. I think it's a really good move. Cheap(er) console + free games = more parents/people gonna buy it. Unlike xbox360 that's not going to have very many launch titles + not all games are backwards compatible. Just applaud it as a good move, no need for bashing free stuff :P I think all consoles will be good.
- cssdev, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I already acknowledged the fact that piracy is not "free". Since you were probably typing while my message was en route to the server I will forgive you. ;)
- immortalize, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It is stuff like this that further reassures my love of Nintendo.
- Bostonsox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I better be able to downloaded some Virtual Boy games.
- wired, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Can I play virtural boy games on the revolution? That would be really kick ass. And they SOMEHOW need to make the revolution work with the power glove, the duck hunt gun and the jump pad.
- MegaMan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Nice, that will certainly give a huge boost to the initial titles offered for the Revolution. This is truly great news.
- cssdev, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Hate to break the news to you but George Harrison said the games could be free. I had read the story a long time ago and even submitted it."
Nice, back into your holes fanboys. ;) - soimless, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hate to break the news to you but George Harrison said the games could be free. I had read the story a long time ago and even submitted it.

This is the part of the interview that had to had been miss read.
"GS: Do you plan on having like a per-download pricing model along the lines of the microtransactions that will be used in the next-gen Xbox marketplace?
GH: Well, we can use it in a variety of ways. We've used some of the older games already as little bonuses, either as bonus gifts or hidden in levels of games. Certainly for the first-party titles we'll be making some of those available. We haven't really talked about whether we would sell them. The third parties can make their own decision whether they want to sell them, or maybe they will add it on as sort of a free benefit when you buy a current version of the game." - brucebeh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0woaah..
I might actually considering buying a revolution just because of this.
I think nintendo just boosted its virtual sales numbers! - übermensch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0http://www.zophar.net/
http://grh.se
2 websites. Through them, access to every single NES title ever released in the USA, ever, and the ability to play them, with full functionality, including online play. - cd_RW, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i hope nintendo makes zero mention of the wretched virtual boy. *cringes*
- PhaseDMA, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Nintendo was directly involved with the making of all Rare games before they (yes they) sold the company. As such I highly doubt they would let go of the rights to those games.
- Cain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Well, I have to reconsider buying a Revolution now, If they pull this off, there's no way I wont buy one. Time to start saving up I suppose.
- BugMeNot2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+01. Nintendo Revolution
2. Sony PlayStation 3
3. Microsoft XBOX 360
Oh how I would love to relive Super Mario World. - AduneWarrior, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Go Nintendo now i am not worried about what hardware there putting in it. Free classic games taht are fun to play how could i resist plus Revolution is going to be the cheapest counsel. GO NINTENDO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- madmac634, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Best thing Nintendo could do to help their grasp on the next generation market.
- jamsea, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Now let's hope the controller isn't weird, the console's power is half decent, and the new Super Smash Bros. game for the Revolution has the guy from ballon fight in it, and Nintendo has won a watch :)
- anachoret, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0we like NES roms...nintendo gives us what we want...we like nintendo.
- cd_RW, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0best news ive heard all day.
