- chris4404, on 10/12/2007, -1/+59Deal as long as you YouTube it.
- TheToon, on 10/12/2007, -4/+40with all the delays Sony is having, I imagine that this is more than likely going to happen... even if Nintendo didn't plan it
- truspector, on 10/12/2007, -4/+38As long as they can get it out the door before March '07 then they will definetely be out before PS3. Once again, I will eat goat balls if I am wrong.
- pbaehr, on 10/12/2007, -2/+27The way Sony is heading they may as well claim Duke Nukem Forever as a launch title.
- masamunecyrus, on 10/12/2007, -3/+22@truspector:
Ah, a fellow realist. If you're anything like me, and predicted the costs/launch delays as well, you'll probably appreciate IGN's latest comic. ^_^
http://wii.ign.com/articles/716/716335p1.html - reevolutn, on 10/12/2007, -4/+21i think they have a cream for that now
- gukid, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18When I first read this, I thought "Earlier than what?". Then I realized that no date was ever finalized and it was all speculation. So basically, we're speculating that it will be released sooner than previously speculated. I still don't find myself getting excited though.
Let me know when Nintendo announces a date, then I'll start losing sleep. - mandarin, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17Nooooooo no way. Never buy from BB.
Bet they will bundle everything on the first day of sale. Dont forget the magazine subscriptions, warranties and all the pile of crap BB is known for. - dallen, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14I was under the impression that Nintendo had confirmed their intention to beat Sony to market. Besides, it is looking like the PS3 might end up delayed anyway
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+15i'd say! i waited for a gamecube at midnight, only for stores to still have tons of them the next day
i doubt the Wii will have such a poor launch! - Daedalus81, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13Dumbest thing Microsoft ever did was release early without enough games.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12So, the Wii is launching in october and with the sub-$300 price tag. You'r damn rights i'm getting one, I decided that when I heard about the support for classic games.
Nintendo made some stupid mistakes in the last Generation, while the Gamecube wasn't really a flop, it had nothing that really shined above the Xbox and the PS2, this time around the Wii is a completely different gaming experience.
Wii for teh win! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9the date is to be officially announced in september, along with price
- WeeklyGeek, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10*explodes*
- mlkmnz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I'm sorry but the writer of this article, Chris Morris, is a complete ass-hat. I love how he palms off rampant speculation and rumors as being factual statements he has received from industry insiders and observers. Maybe you should try doing some proper investigating rather than reading speculatory blogs by Nintendo fans.
And when will tech journalists stop making this out to be a battle of the Wii vs. PS3 - the two consoles are so far apart and I can't see them competing for the same customer. I mean seriously, what potential Wii customer is going to suddenly decide to spend 3 times what they originally intended and buy a PS3 because its out a week earlier? - Lumiras, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6(for some reason, the edit comments function isn't working for me)
Well, the fact that Nintendo is already producing retail units really backs up a September release date. If Nintendo can release in September, they could very well bury Sony - motang, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I will be camping in front of the EB!
- Step1Mark, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Most publicly-held companies will file under Chapter 11 rather than Chapter 7 because they can still run their business and control the bankruptcy process. - googled it
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8It should dual launch with Spore. Tomorrow.
- MasterFunk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I don't know about you guys, but this really makes me think they are going to pull an Apple at TGS this year
- Burns, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6i dont know what to start camping out for the Wii or Snakes On A Plane :)
- ZergyPoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Or you could pre-order it online and not have to camp out anywhere :)
- pbaehr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4What stores? I will go to one immediatly!
- Langford, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Cool, I hope they do release early. I want one, and it's a good idea for Nintendo to do so.
Smartest thing Microsoft did was to release the Xbox360 earlier than the others. - Step1Mark, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5i don't care if this comment gets buried but this guy i know at best buy told me they got a fax from Sony saying don't expect shipments till early 07... i don't believe him but if u work at best buy, ask around...
if Sony is delaying and Nintendo is moving forward... man Sony might as well start those Chapter 7 bankruptcy forums - joshPB, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I really hope this is true about nintendo. That would be the same time as my birthday and I could probably hook up a free one :-)
- joesmosax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Sooner Wii comes out....sooner Zelda TP.....good stuff!
- motang, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Yep they are having cooling problems, and they really need to address that just look at what happened with the early 360 frying on people that played Oblivion, heck my friend's 360 burned out on him when he was playing Oblivion.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8nintendo > ms > sony
- hansonc, on 10/12/2007, -3/+62nd Dumbest thing Microsoft ever did was release early without enough systems.
- apreeo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3nothing new in this article -- no one really knows anything still....
- Step1Mark, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3http://www.gamestop.com/gs/wii/wii_signup.asp - says nothing about it ... i would say next time ur driving by one to just ask
- Step1Mark, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3i think its game stop...
- rabidmoose, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Oh, be fair. It'll more likely be "D.N. Forever 2: Forever Never Ends"
- bpapa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Honestly I have to agree more wiith the original guy. Coming out first with a reasonable price point is probably going to lead to 360 killing PS3. By the time PS3 comes out 360 will already have a decent enough lineup of games for it.
- tdogg241, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I thought it was Chapter 11.
- drog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I agree about the journalist, but the more I think about it, the more I think it is a competition between the wii and ps3, for the future of gaming. Are games going to be fun, can everyone play them, and will they be affordable? Or will they be toys for wealthy suburan teenagers exclusively?
- sifelltneytandi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Plus, there's also the fact that it's dumb as hell to think that this is going to bankrupt Sony.
- dracula7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1nintendo ds?
- Lumiras, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I think that a September-October launch would be great for the Wii. All the big fanboys would be able to get theirs in the first wave, and if Nintendo can keep the supplies up after the initial sellouts, there's a good chance that people won't have a hard time getting a Wii, while a PS3 will be pretty hard to find come Christmas.
- benitojuarez, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Nintendo has never had an early launch, In fact its always been quite the opposite. Ill believe it when i see it.
- kamaru, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Need Zelda, been waiting forever already :)
- ThrasherC, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I just wish I could go ahead and pre-order. And then actually be guaranteed that I'd get one.
- Antialias, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1This wouldn't be an "early launch". They haven't announced a date yet, so how could it be early? The title of the article is misleading, it should be earlier than estimates. As the article states, Nintendo has a history of launching in October or September.
- Step1Mark, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3you can preorder Nintendo wii in some stores
- EmmSee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Any date before their first projected date is a good date for me. I can not wait for this system, seems like it will be the best $250 I'll spend this year. Another digg with a gazillion pics: http://digg.com/gaming_news/Nintendo_Wii_Pictures_screenshots..._tons_and_tons._Good_find!
- ChicagoDS, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0we knew the Wii is to launch sooner. Target makets Wii vs Ps3 also clearly diffrent.
Still a digg considering I'm a Nintendo guy. - anroo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm looking forward to the Wii, let Nintendo take their sweet time. I'm hoping the Wii will bring a slow to the graphics battle that has been going on. Gameplay before Graphics.
- Yokai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If you didn't know that Wii willcome up first, you must have some issues.
- otatop, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1A lot of Game Crazy stores are taking reservations. You give 'em $50, they put your name and number on a list, and when the official pre-ordering starts, they go through the list and put in everybody who's already paids pre-order.
