- cambrown99, on 10/12/2007, -16/+57@joementhol: yes, you are the only one
- Easty, on 10/12/2007, -2/+37It's okay, but at least it's not 'This is (going to increase your cost of) living'.
- JoeMenthol, on 10/12/2007, -26/+57Am I the only one who keeps waiting for the "Wii will, Wii will ROCK YOU!" ad?
- cody50, on 10/12/2007, -8/+24I like it too. It is definitely fitting. They have moved me to buy their system and not a competitors.
- cambrown99, on 10/12/2007, -8/+22Obviously taken from a UK source, but you get the picture.
"Wii Move You" - I kinda like it - cody50, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12speaking of that, anyone know of a comparison of power consumption for the three consoles?
- jfujita, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11@cody50
I heard Wii is 50w during play and 5w in standby vs 500w for PS3 - tomi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10I like to move it move it...
- EmileVictor, on 10/12/2007, -10/+18Hmm...
In soviet russia, Wii move you! - Arkitan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Oh noes, they charge us to play games, what ever will we do!
What do you want, them to just give them away? They are a business you know, they are in this to make money. - cody50, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8I found this digg story about different power consumption of consoles, however, no data for the Wii or PS3.
http://www.digg.com/gaming_news/Game_Console_Energy_Usage_Comparison - eqisow, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Now you're playing with power!
Nintendo power! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11""Wii Move You" - I kinda like it"
I think "Wii Will Rock You" would be better. Hell, you could even use Queen as the commercial backing music...with people using Wiimotes to play air drums along to the song.
EDIT: Crap! JoeMenthol beat me to it...kinda. :( - Darkshine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7"PLAY IT LOUD"
SNES slogan. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+13I thought you guys were annoyed by the Wii usage
- cynicalife, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Opera Browser is free for download until March last I read smarty pants.
- BugMeNot2, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7A high-end PC with X1900XTXs (very power hungry cards) in Crossfire draws around 450W. I doubt the PS3 draws 500W. I'd guess it draws around 250W.
- Tredici, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7What does that even mean!?
- sych0, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Wii are the champions!
- jfujita, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5http://ruliweb4.dreamwiz.com:8080/ruliboard/gup/img_link6/52/51974_2.jpg?t=1158290332
If that FCC picture is correct 3.2A x 120V = 384w - jfujita, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8I did some further research and I want to correct my previous comment, 1 source says PS3 is 200w and another 500w. I guess no one knows for sure.
source:
http://d.hatena.ne.jp/wapa/20060514/p1 - SeBBBe, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5"Get N or get out" for N64. That was a really, really good slogan. Wii move you is pretty nice too. I like it. Unfortunately, I dont think it means a lot to most people and wont make that much of an impression.
- Arkitan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I agree with the Wii will rock you folks, only rather than having the song play, just do the stomp stomp clap in the background and you see the Wii and the Wii remote sitting on a table shaking to the thumps, at the end it says wii will rock you.
- Blueshrike, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4For those "Wii will rock you" would-be-cool folks. Yes, for some it would be kind of cool, but Nintendo is thinking beyond that demographic. It would only appeal to some, and I'm sure that's why they're staying away from it (as you have to know they already thought of it). This is a machine for all.
- Mac2492, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Am I the only one who noticed that this slogan can also be interpreted as "Remove You"?
(Just wondering...) - CarzorStelatis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2'all out web assault'. well I've already seen a 'wiimoveyou' advert in a games mag here in the UK.
- breaks, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3... on a billboard with a gigantic picture of MJ surrounded by the nintendo execs.
- cyssero, on 04/18/2009, -3/+5Nothing spectacular about this slogan. It sure as hell isn't going to convince anyone here on digg to buy it or not. They could have any damn slogan they want and I probably won't remember it for more than a few minutes. Can't honestly say I know any consoles slogan apart from "Never underestimate the power of PlayStation" (for the original one).
- dizzledaking, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3@meridianblade
I heard your jokes are so bad they call you Joe Piscapo. Guess I heard right. - SeBBBe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@ oGMo: I think they're gonna run lots of TV ads and online ads with sounds so people hear it being pronounced.
- raindog469, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah, if they were actually going to have a "theme song" by a popular artist, I think they'd end up using something like that one song by the Cranberries that they always use in movie ads (or a modern equivalent) this time around, or some kind of downbeat trip-hop thing like car commercials use.
But look at some of the unusual (for video games) marketing techniques they've used to push the DS.... taking out ads during Oprah, pushing it on QVC.... I don't know if it'll immediately happen at launch, but they're looking at soccer moms, not just boys and young men.
Besides, Domino's Pizza is currently using "We Will Rock You" for their football season buffalo wing ads each year, and I think that would diminish its usefulness even among the young male audience. - TheXeno, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Ya know with all that pun'ing going on with the Wii, the slogan initially came off as "Re-move you" to me instead of We move you. I dunno, either way, it's kinda lackluster.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I'm waiting for the "Wii Touch You" ad.
- tmar89, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wii want to Play!
or
Wii, want to Play? - bigmansteve, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I didn't like the name "Wii" the first time I heard it. Revolution was catchier. I can't get used to pronouncing it as "we".
- bobrboob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wii will, Wii will... weeeee!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wii will consume your life.
The bastards. The lovely bastards. - flaakmonkey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0"Wii will Rock You!"
That would have been better. - ElectricGrandpa, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Slogans aren't meant to make you actually purchase a product(per se), they just increase brand recognition.
- TheMikey, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0I think in the time up to the Wii launch "Wii will rock you." would do remarkably well.
At launch: "Grab your Wii."
After launch: "Go ahead, play with your Wii."
*sigh* Everytime I say the name I get a smile on my face. Like saying 'cheese' to a camera.
Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii! - Simon80, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1The problem is that as good as the Wii looks now, the N64 and GCN both looked really good at release time, and look what happened with them, especially the Cube.
- pbjorge12, on 10/12/2007, -6/+4It is most likely 500w...
Since that would be about the right size PSU for an equivalent PC... - Arkonnan, on 10/12/2007, -13/+8Wii just bought an X-box 360!
- Sammy20, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3When downloading the opera browser, and some old games it becomes "Wii Charge you".
- hodyoaten, on 10/12/2007, -11/+4When marketing people base an ad campaign around a pun, they're basically saying "we give up... here's something that worked in 1972."
- japanmoran, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1I am glad I am not the only one that thinks Wii === why
- BowieX, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1Wii: You're Innate on this Console.
(Hey, can't blame a guy for tryin'.) - mywhitenoise, on 10/12/2007, -11/+3Just goes to show how forgiving all the Nintendo fans are. I think it's horrible, almost as bad as 'This Is Living'.
- oGMo, on 10/12/2007, -9/+1Yeah, they better make sure the name pronounciation thing catches on quick, too. It will be unfortunate if people see this and go "Why Move You" and go "what?"
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -15/+7If it's all for online, it has a very strong possibility of not translating into any actual sales. Just look at what happened with Snakes on a Plane and the massive internet marketing blitz (even aside from all the blogs and fan parodies).
Nintendo better be careful if they're spending this much money just for online. -
