</hijack> - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+37Man that's a load of games! Bet it includes stuff like Wii Sports 2 and things but I couldn't even think of 40 games. Hope Mario Kart is in there somewhere
- Butt3rs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16All im hoping for is some great online games in this large list
- CaptShmo, on 10/12/2007, -6/+21subtract 10 from each console for all the different pokemon games they will release
- morbidous, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16I guess the famous "Wii's drought" will be over soon. I just hope that, at the very least, the vast majority of these titles live up to the known Nintendo Quality.
This announcement will, for sure, ramp up the demand for the and increase the installed user base a lot. Meaning that even more 3rd parties will be making Wii games, which increase the units sold, which... Well, you got the point.
And you can be sure Mario Kart and Zelda are among those titles! - motang, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15Now thats a butt load of games! I can't even think of 40 games off the top of my head that are Nintendo properties.
Link to the actual article: http://quote.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=conewsstory&refer=conews&tkr=7974:JP&sid=aXvRwZ3iOQw4 - br0ck, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9@sfownsla - Actually, as I've posted before, IGN's list shows there's 68 more third party games slated to come out for the Wii this year alone: http://wii.ign.com/index/release.html which is about ten more than the PS3 http://ps3.ign.com/index/release.html . The lists also show Nintendo releasing 28 games this year and Sony releasing 28.
- artemus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10You could start by checking here:

Also, here is a list of untitled projects.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Untitled_Wii_Projects - echonull, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7The source article clearly states "Nintendo ... said it's developing 45 software titles for the Wii console.... The company is also developing 79 games for the ... DS...." No indication of third-party games being part of the count. Cite your source? - iofthestorm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7@infinitysnatch: Considering these are games made by Nintendo, I have a feeling very few will be ports at all, unless you mean DS or Gamecube ports which would probably not be too bad, but ports nonetheless.
- ChrisLawes, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Exactly, that is a crapload of titles - I can;t wait till E3 and TGS to find out more...
- modsuperstar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I could see this being possible. I'm sure a good section of the games will be in the simple vein, like Brain Training, Cooking Mama etc. People on that forum that was linked were saying that even EA couldn't pump out that many games, but what they fail to consider is that Nintendo isn't making ports of Tiger Woods or Madden for 16 different consoles. The other factor here is that one of the main benefits of the Wii to game developers is that the cost of making games is exponentially lower for the Wii then when it is compared to PS3 or 360, which essentially means that Nintendo has the ability to make risky, ouside the box games. It should be interesting to see how this pans out. Nintendo will spend the time on their marquee franchises while trying to branch out like they did with Nintendogs and Big Brain Academy for the DS.
- fantasticFlan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Unfortunately, we probably won't see Wii curling until the next winter Olympics.
- InfinitySnatch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5They really need to set a firm release date for SSBB or No More Heroes.
CooommmeONNN! - b3mus3d, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Dude, there has only been one Mario Strikers game...
and would you really begrudge wii curling? :P
I do hope they'll start replacing Mario with Mii's a little though. I like Mario, but I think he should stick to Kart, Smash Bros, the platformers and perhaps some cameos. - echonull, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Mind, No More Heroes wouldn't be in this list, as it's a 3rd-party game under development by Grasshopper/Suda51.
- djSyndrome, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Because nothing says 'buy our console' like the news of a replacement in development.
- ICSU, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Now if only we had Paper Mario in Europe...
- djSyndrome, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9Not to burst your bubble, but you won't see many of these games until 2008 or 2009. The 2007 release schedule for the Wii doesn't even have a dozen first-party games on board.
It's not limited to the Wii either - the PS3 supposedly has 'over 200' games in development altogether, although barely a quarter of them will be on sale this year. - fantasticFlan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Definitely includes 2nd party developers, some don't know the difference.
- nrt25, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Couldn't agree more...
I too will probably get a Wii sometime down the road but there still is chance I might not get one because it seems that all Nintendo gets for 3rd party games are craptastic ports. I remain very hopeful that this will change now that developers realize what a success the Wii has been, but until then I'm still a little skeptical about getting a Wii. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Does digg have a permaban? If yes, its time to enforce it.
- thefaithful, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah, in a year/year-and-a-half when demand starts to show signs of waning.
They will kick out these games along with a slight price cut to maintain demand. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Welcome to my block list.
- Rodahue, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Why did I have to click more than once to read the story?
- Jerim, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4The question is how many games are coming from 3rd party developers? I have nothing against Nintendo, and I still have some loose planes to buy a Wii. Nintendo turning out 45 games doesn't create a sufficient library. I want to see what company's like EA and Ubisoft are planning. I actually had no intention of buying an XBox 360 until recently when I realized that Mass Effect is coming out soon. That along with Gears of War and XBox Live finally convinced that I should look into getting one. I don't have any allegiance to any console, I just need a solid library of games to get me interested. I am sure the Nintendo created stuff will be great, but I need more than one source of good games on a console.
- tophu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1WarioWare: Smooth Moves includes a curling microgame...
- thatsmyaibo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I hope it's not just like 30 Dragonball games. The Wii is awesome and I'm hoping for games that keep my busy for hours like the DS has.
- probune, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Looks like TOSE is getting a lot of work.
- LockeLimeMiasma, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yes.
because we all want to play Tetris on our Wii's.
because it wouldn't be more efficient to buy an entirely new
state-of-the-art computer to play Pac-Man.
face it.
you have a gameboy colour to do that. - graystar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Wii want cricket. http://wiiwantcricket.com/
- majortom1981, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Nintendo stated that most of those 45 are Gamer games.
They also stated that they are already looking into the hardware for their next console. - xxeyes, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Septimus, the Wii has only been out for about 6 months, so I assume you mean weeks.
Surprisingly, I am actually looking forward to more "Mii series" titles like Wii Music, and whatever else they may throw at us. I love the idea of simple games that anyone can come over and play without having to spend hours learning the controls, etc...great for pre-drinking, especially with the free hand afforded by the Wii remote design. - InfinitySnatch, on 10/12/2007, -13/+12And another 20 for ***** ports.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0ANy of these games in HD? Hello? Anybody? Damn, still silence. Frickin Nintendo.
- KingGoonie, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Ajajadude.. of coure we know quality not quantity... Thats why nintendo 64 was way better then the ps1... I mean WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better.
And why the cube was just as good as PS2.
Its also why Wii is better the PS3. Quality of the new way it gives you to play over the Quantity of stuff that a videogame system doesnt even need which drove up the price to 600.... Sorry, but I got a DVD player. And a computer. - HappyScrappy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1I dunno how amazing that number is. A friend at Sony told me how many first-party games Sony has under development for PS3, and it's more than 45.
I sort of got the idea this was a normal amount of games to have in flight.
Many of them (for each platform) will never even be finished. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -10/+8Just Some games :
Pokemon Blue, Green, Red, Yellow, Black, Brown, Grey, Pink and Orange and Mario Kart 56, Mario Strike 45, Mario Basketball Jam and Mario Curling Extreme.
Can't wait. - MattEaston, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2How many do we already know about? Anyone wanna do a list?
- JamesBrown, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Lots of people. I'm a little too old for Pokemon games myself, but there are still millions of people who fall into the Pokemon demographic. Mario games, on the other hand, are tremendously fun for all players, and each iteration is usually very fresh, innovative, and most importantly a blast to play.
Nintendo rarely puts out a bad first or second party game. I say your little evaluation has it backwards. - dasdef, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0Wii is overrated YAWWWWWWWWWWWN
and yes, i have one. - rolosworld, on 10/12/2007, -7/+3I hope they make a mario kart inspired on MK64.. the MK64 glitches made it so much fun to play :-/
- Splitt3rxx, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2holy *****, nintendos development power is insane, maybe they could even outsell EA.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -9/+490% of them consists of a bunch of mini games.
- Cole2026, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3Out of those 45:
35 will be dreadful
5 will be decent
5 will be good
Nintendo does occasionally come out with a decent game, however who the hell wants to sit back and play Mario and Pokemon all day long? - yaosio, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1Nintendo is not developing 45 games for the Wii and 79 for the DS, Nintendo and 3rd party developers are developing them.
- Ajajadude, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2You people are all excited, BUT: ever heard of quality not quantity? 45 games isn't anything to be excited about if they're all mediocre, you know.
Yeah, I know, Nintendo fanboys aren't gonna like reading that... - s6t9eve, on 10/12/2007, -14/+7I cant wait for powerpuff girls 4, Pokemon diamond gold 2, and wii tetris 2.
- Septimus, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1They'll release probably just after I sell my Wii as it hasn't been used in 18 months.
- LockeLimeMiasma, on 10/12/2007, -10/+2you do realise,
and out of those hundred or so games,
fifty percent or so will suck,
and twenty-five percent will probably be underlooked? -
