- redspear, on 10/23/2007, -14/+292A year ago even suggesting this meant you were either being sarcastic, super fanboy or on crack. It goes to show the underdog should never be counted out.
- fognozzle, on 10/24/2007, -33/+205Congrats to Nintendo for showing that good games, good fun, and a lower price, are more important than graphics.
- Brereton55, on 10/24/2007, -23/+170Grats Nintendo could we get some real games now please :) Have not touched my Wii since November
- Kindalo, on 10/10/2007, -41/+164Wii is #1!
- totorototoro, on 10/23/2007, -4/+121...and the battle to avoid being Number 3 begins :p
- Renton, on 10/10/2007, -10/+101Good job Nintendo the Wii is officially the market leader for this console generation. ***** companies like EA will be making more ***** games for the Wii in an attempt to bank off it's success. On the plus side, good companies like Square-Enix or Rockstar will start making more quality games in attempt to bank off it's success :p
- tradwolley, on 10/10/2007, -3/+76Agreed, I am sick of waiting for Smash Bros. Brawl. Anyone want to freeze me until December?
- gcnaddict, on 10/24/2007, -11/+83What's funny is that Nintendo is making an obscene amount of profit from the system. Sony is still losing money and Microsoft is only on it's way toward breaking even.
- Valarauka, on 10/24/2007, -3/+70Surely you mean: "Wii are #1!"
- dunezone, on 10/10/2007, -4/+57This calls for a re-release of Mario Brothers on DVD.
- felman87, on 10/10/2007, -3/+56All we need now is Smash
- shadowC, on 10/10/2007, -1/+43Awesome, congrats Nintendo. Let's hope this continues and we get big Quality 3rd-party support, since currently Nintendo has been the one having to make all the top-notch games for the Wii. Hopefully the large userbase will change the devs minds a bit.
- orangester, on 10/10/2007, -5/+47With their upcoming titles the Wii market is going nowhere but up.
- Shaflugi, on 10/10/2007, -2/+41I doubt they'll be breaking even any time soon after spending so much money on fixing their broken machines.
- Cink420, on 10/24/2007, -3/+41Nah the race is between Microsoft and Nintendo for first and second this time around. Sony is sitting rather securely in third :P
- tradwolley, on 10/24/2007, -5/+38Sony fanboys -- ATTACK
- mustnap, on 10/10/2007, -3/+33that is just a myth. Japanese love RPG genre. There seems to be no other good RPGs other than Blue Dragon which has helped to sell few 360s in japan. Starbucks, McD (which have somewhat different menus than the one in the US) are also being sold in japan and the japanese love it. So it is just a myth that japanese will not buy anything that is not made in japan/japanese products.
- kkaabboomm, on 10/10/2007, -7/+34tomorrow night the NPD numbers come out, which should either drop the wii numbers in NA to below the thresh-hold, or reconfirm what is being said. and remember, although 11.6 million 360's were 'shipped' by end of june, that doesnt mean they have been 'sold'
- Mastertone, on 10/10/2007, -14/+41Um...Metroid?
- Shaflugi, on 10/10/2007, -8/+32Japanese people just don't jizz themselves every time a new FPS is released, which is all the 360 has, really.
- scotticus, on 10/10/2007, -5/+27Do you go outside ever?
- Shaflugi, on 10/10/2007, -5/+25NINTENDO was the underdog, you idiot. :|
- Synn, on 10/10/2007, -2/+21Your username is based off of a wrestler and you're calling other people inbred?
- SuperCUBE, on 10/10/2007, -7/+25Took less than 1.5 hours to make it to the front page. Amazing.
- greenlight2001, on 10/10/2007, -0/+16You fail at spelling.
- redspear, on 10/10/2007, -0/+15Well all of the independent tracking numbers are estimates. When the NPD numbers are release you will get estimates from a much larger sample size but they will also be a month back. Even if NPD and VGchartz are dead on there is still a possibility the 360 is ahead because they are tracking closely of course there is always the possibility the Wii is even further ahead. You really won't know until all the tracking shows a few million lead for one console or the other.
- gcauthon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+15In other news, congrats to Sony for making the best selling Blu-Ray player. When do they plan on getting back in to the video game business? Nintendo needs the competition.
- Aadain, on 10/10/2007, -5/+20Um, not out yet?
- redspear, on 10/10/2007, -4/+18This is true. It did get a lot of hype during E3 06. The PS3 started getting bad hype at E3. However on many boards the overall feeling was that motion sensing was a novelty that will wear off and the system was too underpowered to really compete. Than it was a fad and after that it was nintendo consoles always launch well (Gamecube had record numbers its first few months and dropped off fast in January 67k, N64 had a phenomenal first 3 months that lead to a high 6 month launch total).
- fognozzle, on 10/10/2007, -4/+18Really? I don't have enough time to play all mine.
There's Twilight Princess, Mario Strikers Charged, Resident Evil Wii, we're less than a week away from Metroid Prime 3, not to mention the huge multiplayer fun of Wii Sports.
On top of that, I'm picking up the Gamecube games I missed (never owned a Gamecube) and the Virtual Console titles for consoles I missed.
I can hardly find the time to play all this stuff, and that's all before Super Mario Galaxy and Smash Bros Brawl come out. - morrislevy, on 10/10/2007, -17/+31About damn time. Way to kick it to Microsoft. Keep kicking some a$$ Nintendo! :D
- FutureGuy, on 10/10/2007, -13/+27XBox is doing very badly in Japanese market. They don't seem to want to buy anything that doesn't have a Japanese brand stuck to it.
- fognozzle, on 10/10/2007, -2/+16The 360's library is fine, but any "gamer" who relegates Zelda, Mario, and Metroid to "family and casual," simply isn't a gamer, IMO. They are absolutely fantastic video games.
- Calypsoaf, on 10/10/2007, -8/+22Now if only games would reflect and we could get more than 4 decent games a year....
- Tourney3p0, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13Second generation? What are you, 8? Remember the NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, etc?
- Phendrana, on 10/10/2007, -2/+15Yeah man, like God of War 3, Gran Turismo 4, Metal Gear Solid 4, Final Fantasy 13, Grand Theft Auto 4, Ratchet and Clank 4, etc, etc......
oh wait..... - Useight, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13F.Y.I - We're in the seventh generation now. Kids these days, thinking the gaming world started with N64 vs. Playstation.
- FishyJoe, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13Actually, they are selling at a pace on par the PS2. The supply is pretty high, just the demand is higher.
- Synn, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12You don't care, even though you took the time to come here and comment on it?
- FishyJoe, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13The NPD numbers will only have July's numbers. This latest data from VGChartz includes the first three weeks of August.
So NPD won't officially show the Wii lead until September when the August numbers are released. - wired4u, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13Maybe they will come out with a new mario movie now, they left it open for a second one.
- Tourney3p0, on 10/10/2007, -3/+14Actually according to Consumer Reports and JD Power, Porsche is at the very bottom of quality and reliability studies for the last few years. Ford is near the lower middle. The studies can be found on the CR and JD Power websites if you want to check.
- flamingmb, on 10/10/2007, -2/+13I Like To Capitalize Every First Letter Too!
- duccodude, on 10/10/2007, -6/+16name 5 exclusives comming to the PS3.
- Optimus, on 10/10/2007, -2/+12Nobody likes you.
- zeebo, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11But consoles aren't like burgers. With consoles being #1 matters because 3rd party developers will go where they stand to make the most money, with that typically being whoever has moved the most machines.
- Paroparo, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11I live in Europe... want to freeze me until 2008?
- HTOstatus, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11Ummm... 3 is a number.
- fognozzle, on 10/10/2007, -3/+12I play online with Mario Strikers Charged. It's great... I can play 2 players at my house against 2 players at someone else's. No lag, matchups are easy.
- fognozzle, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10Have you seen previews for Metroid Prime 3, or Super Mario Galaxy? The Wii might not be up to the PS3 or XBox360, but it's no slouch in the graphics department. And considering the RISC (vs CISC) architecture of the CPU, it really will run circles around the original XBox (don't let silly comparisons fool you).
But you know, just play whatever games you find fun. I think games like Super Mario Galaxy will be tons of fun, and multiplayer Wii Sports is always a huge hit with friends. -
