- strangeone, on 10/12/2007, -4/+41why can't people link to creditable sources rather than their dumb blog..
oh yeah because its clearly speculation! - seraph741, on 10/12/2007, -6/+38OMG, that would be nuts!!! I would put that on my credit card card right away even though I don't have the money! It's crazy, but i can see it happening.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+26however the $199 rumour would be very nice if true ;)
- soogy, on 10/12/2007, -4/+27What's nuts is the name! Although, I suppose it is more innovative than "Revolution." But for $199, this is going to blow the competition out of the water. I'm definitely grabbing one.
Anyone remember the days when all the consoles would launch within weeks of each other? - LycoLoco, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19Wow...way to be closed minded. Nintendo does much more than "kiddy games" and the games that you are calling "kiddy games" aren't just for kids, but CAN be played by the whole family. Nintendo realizes that you don't need blood and gore to make a game fun, you simply need good gameplay.
- 1percent, on 10/12/2007, -6/+23Do I approve? Oui.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14it's not "nintendo wii" it's just "Wii"
- jpwhitmore, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14Are you kidding me? If they launched at e3 or in June that would make my summer. Plus, by the time the holiday season came along people would have had the chance to play with it or talk to a friend who had. This would help get rid of any negative feelings toward the Wii.
Still feels strange calling it that. - Crashwithuhk, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16Better then $300+ for an X-Box or Playstation that essentially the same just with better graphics.
- Lumiras, on 10/12/2007, -4/+16Hey, RAAAAAAMONE..............stop it, just leave. You proceed every ***** comment with that goddamned saying, and it's really annoying.....please get your IP banned
- Clearz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12As more time goes on I can really see myself settling with a Nintendo this time round. I am sick of been patronised by MS and Sony's hype. If Nintendo can deliver a good online expierence as well as been able to play every Nintendo game that ever existed (Oh how I loved them old (S)NES 2D games) then it will be the Wii that gets a position beside my TV.
- chembro84, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Are you kidding about Nintendo not having any hype? Have you EVER heard ANYONE talk so much about something that hasn't even had 1 game in real time showed for it?
Nintendo either by accident or on purpose has created so much hype for the Wii, that it'll be hard to live up to, but I think they will (The DS lived up to it's hype for me!). - otatop, on 10/12/2007, -10/+21You don't have $200? Maybe it'd be better if you held off on buying any consoles for a while.
- kg4gyt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Works for Apple every time.
- Tiak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11I just checked said interview/looked through everything on IGN... It doesn't say the week before, acording to IGN it was just confirmed to be "before thanksgiving".
- jgee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Yah It's nice to think you could get the system and two games, for under $300. We can always hope.
- pongx, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12ptbw,you're right. Really, you are. Wait, no how many times has AppleInsider, ThinkSecret, MacRumors been on the front page? Yet, those are taken as absolute truth and get reported on Engadget, Joystiq, Slashdot, Digg, etc.... How is that any different than this? Oh, and what about the PS3 pricing rumors that have been all over digg lately? Don't pretend that digg is pure news and no speculation.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11it would be silly to launch that soon... without setting up a concrete launch date in advance to build up hype/speculation and anticipation they wont be able to maximise sales.
a september release would be best as they would then cash in on all the hype around atm and have 3 successive buying periods, launch, holidays, post holidays. - jgee, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12"nice guess, but wrong. Nintendo representatives DID mention a release in november. According to ign.com, who quoted a nintendo spokesperson, the wii is scheduled to release the weekend before thanksgiving in november. It gives them more marketing time, and it’s perfect for the holidays. secondly, the fact that zelda is scheduled to release in november is still tentative, although it is highly likeley, especially since a nintendo person DID say that zelda will have some role on the wii, whether it’s just for mini games or actual optional gameplay. lastly, nintendo decided on the november release date before sony’s." (Kintendo)
- plastk, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10"Your Wii will come."
I don't know about anyone else... but I busted out laughing when I read that. - hah456, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Mirror: http://duggmirror.com
- yoigloo, on 10/12/2007, -6/+13congraTulations on having the spelling ability of a third grader
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10Didn't SEGA do that exact thing with Saturn, and look how well that went. I bought one, but...
- Satertek, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8But its Nintendo. They don't need hype!
Consider they make a suprise release immidiately after E3. Not many people would know about it, true. But it would spread though word of mouth and would, for the most part, avoid massive shortages.
Not that its gonna happen that way though. November really makes the most sense. - Tiak, on 10/12/2007, -5/+11the 199 will be nice?... Personally I couldn't imagine the revolution being any higher than that from what we've been hearing... No offense, just the frequent comments about it being substantially cheaper wouldn't fit with it being less than 100 dollars cheaper than a 360.... Personally I'm still expecting a $149 Wii..... Is it wrong that I still can't help giggling when I use the word?... Hurry up and grow on me wii!
- ipodman715, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Hey, playing it in the summer w/o school is nice!
I want to get the DS lite first though. - shiftt, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7too soon for you? shame on them for doing things on time!
they should look at Microsoft and Sony.... they're great at postponing releases.. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+11July, that soon?
- nebunezzar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Need more hype? Look at how the net lit up at just the announcement of the name. I'd say there's your hype right there.
- 10scott10, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7i can't resist. WHEEEEEEEE! sorry. to the real comment. i doubt that will happen. i agree with addisonj. we would know about more games if that were true. but the pricing probably is right., fits the history.
- mrgreen4242, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Laugh. Nintendo rocks if you are under 13 or over 23. When you get into those middle years where you care more about what other people think than what you think playing a Nintendo probably sucks.
I'm 26, the best (new) game I have played in the last, oh, 5 or 6 years is Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga. My wife, a complete non-gamer 24 year old, LOVES Mario Party and Mario Kart (Advance, Super Circuit, and DS). She gets into Monkey Ball, too. She's going to love the Revolution, though... not playing video games as a kid, she is at a serious disadvantage when trying to perform very intricate controller maneuvers, like the power slide boost in Mario Kart, or any kind of platform jumping mini game in Mario Party. I think this will level the field so to speak.
Anyways, I can't wait. I might not get on launch day, but I will once winter rolls around and I'm looking for something inside to do. On the other hand, if it's $150 for the basic system I might have to get one right away. Speaking of which, if they launch at $200 now, they can wait until Fall/Winter when the PS3 is launched, and either drop the price or up the bundle at $200. Say an extra controller and a new/good game in the box for the same price.
That could take a lot of steam out of the $500+ PS3 bundles people will be shopping for around the holiday seaspn. - Clearz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6@davidv
Ah but thats where bit-torrent comes in you see. If Nintendo thinks ill be paying for all them games that I already payed for all them years ago on the NES and SNES they got another thing comming. - gaius_baltar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Wii're ready, Nintendo. Are you?
- Archon810, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Time to buy Nintendo stock (if it also starts resembling the one of Apple)?
- jpwhitmore, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Ease up on him it's his second day on Digg
Seriously though Raaaamone you need to stop that... and probably get a new name too. - SilentBobSC, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4If they did this, I think I could get over the whole Wii thing, it would get a HUGE head start on the PS3. Between the price point, the PS3 Delay, and the library of games available the Wii could stitch up quite a few customers.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4It would be great to have it that soon. But think about it, It aint gonna happen. Look at the amount of titles we already "know" about. Forget E3, most of those games wont be finished/fine tuned until right before launch in Nov. Hold your horses, save a couple bucks a day. Your Wii will come.
- alexzizka, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Everything about that system apeals to me.
Nothing was engeneered to more perfection.
Cant wait! - HikariLink, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4That's what I call a successful business plan!
- golhra, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Last I heard, Nintendo plans on releasing Zelda TP around the launch of the Rev...I mean Wii. If that happens, oooo! I just want my Zelda so bad!
- revolved, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Wii sucks - http://www.whywii.com
Wii rocks - http://www.wiiwhy.com - abohling, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4It's a little hard to compare with Saturn and it's love-child Dreamcast because some of that fell on Sega and it's lack of understanding the market. They wanted to put Saturn out as this new wild system to compete but at the same time they wanted to drag Genesis/Mega-Drive/CD/3DX along with it. They invested so much in the Genesis line that they failed the Saturn.
I have a Saturn and it's not a bad little system. Sega's internal problems and business problems is what killed their consoles in the end. That and Sony. - dimatt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I'd say a july launch is very doubtful. Has nintendo even released their final dev kits yet, even? I'd rather see it come out in november with 20+ games, all polished
- MihaiM, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Because if they submit that story want somehow credit for it. And he gets a few $$ from AdSense and everyone else gets the news.
I find it an even exchange. - tapo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Saturn was designed (initally) as a SegaCD/Genesis combo with a little hardware boost for better graphics. The Neptune (which was produced in small quantities but not released) was basically the same thing but combining it with 32X instead of the SegaCD.
When Sega first heard that Sony was going to allow for 3D games - and have good support - on the Playstation, Sega massively revamped the Saturn project and left it a mess for developers. That, as well as the high price tag, is what killed the Saturn. Not the launch date.
(For what it's worth, if we're going for an early launch date as the next system to die, that would be the Xbox 360, not the Wii, in trouble.) - Mizark, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4You cant't launch without games, Games depend on a firm date announced well in advance. If they announced a date to their 3rd parties that info would be leaked. So the whole early launch thing is just absurd.
- XxUNDEROATHxX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3404'd its heart out...

(copy and paste or it links to main Digg page for some reason) - dracula7, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4doesnt apple get away with it?
- dracula7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3obviously these developers have been tight-lipped regardless about what they know. around 20 games are going to be released with the console, this is more than anyone imagined... this means over 20 games have been in development for a fair amount of time.....its not that unlikely considering we know nothing
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Well Sega had no hype... I doubt this is true. Probably November.
