- Miyazaki, on 10/12/2007, -0/+46Here's a very high res picture of the classic controller.

May want to right click-->Save as, I'm having trouble viewing it in FF at times. - calebdesu, on 10/12/2007, -2/+40I figured you'd just turn the wiimote sideways for that
- apavluck, on 10/12/2007, -3/+31I am definately getting a Wii. I think that Nintendo has been making really good moves lately with the DS and I think that it is going to continue with the Wii. Sony and MS beware...
- suqur, on 10/12/2007, -0/+27http://www.nintendo.co.jp/n10/e3_2006/wii/controller.html
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+24Wow, it looks like a SNES controller on steriods, awesome
- masamunecyrus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+23Didn't anyone notice that the sensor bar was also revealed on that page?
http://www.nintendo.co.jp/n10/e3_2006/wii/img_con/photo_sensor.jpg - drigz, on 10/12/2007, -4/+25Yeah, because the GC didn't have dual joysticks. Oh, wait...
- jonathanex, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21It's called a watermark. For you complainers, it's moved.
- weirdone, on 10/12/2007, -4/+24the important thing is that they have 2...and not one and a stupid c-stick.
- VegaObscura3, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21The PS2 and the SNES had sex one night and this is the result.
- jonathanex, on 10/12/2007, -4/+22calebdesu: Retro games on Virtual Console?
- moofree, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14Ah, didn't notice the wire... New unanswerable question: Can these controllers be used on the gamecube?
- IanCube, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Here's a full story on it, with Japanese translation, including what buttons are on it.

Sony stole the analog sticks from the N64. - moofree, on 10/12/2007, -5/+15No... sony is the one that stole nintendo's controller ideas.
1) Playstation 1 vs SNES. Just compare the two controllers...
2) Dual shock vs N64 (i know, dual shock had two analog sticks and built in rumble, but analog controls weren't on anyone's priority list before spaceworld 1995)
3) Gyroscopic sensors in the controller
Sony is continuing to play catchup. I mean, the saturn 3d controller bundled with nights had analog triggers 10 years ago... and sony is just now adding them? Sure, all the buttons on the ps2 controller are analog, but they don't FEEL analog. - gwax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Ok, corroboration seen, you win; dugg.
- jesusphreak, on 10/12/2007, -7/+16Two joystics side by side is not the "right" place. The s-controller for the Xbox and the Xbox 360 with its asymmetrical joysticks are a lot better.
- Dari, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9There's a little door on the side that opens up, with two Gamecube memory card slots and four controller ports for 'cube controllers. Presumably, this new pad would also use those.
- moofree, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9I hope you can use a gamecube controller with the virtual console as well (i don't see why not...)
I love my wavebird. - apavluck, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11If it comes out with Zelda as a release game not even Halo3 could slow the uptake, IMO.
Plus if you can play punch out and other NES games on that thing...all I can say is Wow. The next generation has arrived (and Sony didn't even say so) - russizm, on 10/12/2007, -5/+13http://www.nintendo.co.jp/n10/e3_2006/wii/img_con/photo_classic.jpg
- dswskinner, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9yes yes, it's very similar to dual shock.
But then i seem to remember Dual Shock itself using analog sticks after the N64 controller, and indeed you would have to be blind not to see the similarities between the Snes controller and the original PS controller.
Amazing how some things go full circle isn't it. - fingiecrookie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Brett, if I tell you that I'm quite possibly the biggest Nintendo fanboy known to mankind, will you THEN understand the concept of sarcasm? Jesus.
- KyleRayner, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Im having a hard time imagining how large it is, just as a guess it looks to be the size of a SNES pad. On first impression I didnt like it, but its growing on me.
- pudquick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I am also getting a Wii. This press conference is driving me nuts. Did anyone else catch that he said Zelda will be on the day the Wii comes out and it'll be released simultaneously with the Gamecube edition?
My local game shop already has a month listed for when Zelda comes out. - gwax, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9I like how the controller has britishgaming.co.uk stenciled onto its face.
Nevermind, it's been moved to the corner; now it looks pretty decent: very SNES. - Ludwig, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10I've always thought the controller for the Cube to be the absolute most comfortable controller I've ever used. Ever.
Not sure why straying from that would sell millions, but you're welcome to your opinion. - Guspaz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7A SNES controller with analog sticks! I love it.
- Po0py, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Someone at Sony should take a look at this. Even when doing a traditional controller Nintendo gets it spot on.
There are actually 4 shoulder buttons. Two of them are out of view. L & R and zL & zR. I wonder if they are trigger buttons like Xbox or all shoulders buttons.
Nice. - bleaknik, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8I agree. The GC controller was extremely comfortable.
- theLEGENDisBACK, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8It does look very SNES.... Thumbs up.... I like this control looks comfortable
- fingiecrookie, on 10/12/2007, -18/+24OMG! THEY TOTALLY STOLE SONY'S CONTROLLER!!1!
- jamesey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6neither did the first PS controller
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10Huh? Have you ever seen an SNES controller or were you not born yet?
- VegaObscura3, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Our thumbs have difficulty moving a stick that is directly above it all the way to the left without moving our whole hand. Our thumbs can move to the right much better so logically you should put the sticks a bit to the right. But I find that on the PS2 the sticks are a bit too much to the right. This controller looks like it has the perfect balance.
- sandwichpants, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7It's like SNES dual shock....I love it, I'm getting one! (ok, probably two).
- Miyazaki, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I guess you're right about all the buttons being the same color and it being hard to locate the buttons by sight.
I mean...it's so hard for me to type because all these keys on the keyboard are all black. I guess I'll have to paint it. - 2000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6No insider info needed: http://www.gamespot.com/news/6146528.html
GDC 06: Revolution to play Genesis, TurboGrafx games - n3rrd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I'll accept the argument that this new "classic" controller is basically the same as the dual shock if you accept the dual shock came from the SNES design.
- TECHSev, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7That's not the point, this controller is to play classic games, from NES to GC and they've managed to make it all fit in one nice controller, this is NOT ment to play Wii games.
In reality you could use the GC controller to play everything and the Wii controler to play NES, but for those who don't have a GC controller, This allows you to play old school stuff
cause as Innovative as the Wiimote is, there's no way in hell you can use it as a N64 controller without some SERIOUS re-adjusment of the gameply code - obscurelyfamous, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Take more than a cursory glance. The wire comes from the top and is pulled to the bottom for the photo.
- uttles, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6You know, the most excited I got (this is sad) watching the new game demos was watching the Wii Sports version of golfing. I think I now prefer the new remote over the old style of remote because imagine all the possibilities when it comes to sports. They could make a "real life mode" for the golf game and you could go to the driving range or play 18 holes right in your living room!
- Dari, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8I find the two sticks side-by-side to be more comfortable, but that's just my opinion.
- borbzz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Actually...if you look at the picture, it seems that the classic controller buttons takes design from the original SNES buttons. If you remember the SNES controller, the "A" and "B" buttons were convex, while the "Y" and "X" buttons were concave, so just by feeling you could tell which button your finger was on. If you look closely, it looks like there is a shadow cast on the "A" and "B" buttons on the Wii classic controller.
- analdisco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Thank god. The bar I had seen before (I think in the Red Steel screens) had a cheap plastic stand and the bar sticking up from it. It looked cheap and unstable, and more than a little disappointing.
This picture has given me trust again. Nice and sleek and flat. I can definitely deal with that. - bakagaigin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5The N64's analog stick wore out really quickly, and for some games it seemed like you needed 3 hands to play them to their full extent.
- Po0py, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5effii:
Flip the wii controller on its side and you have a classic nes controller. - millixaw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I would *LOVE* to hear some Sony fanboy try to say Nintendo copied the PlayStation controller. Just try.... and then remember which controller the PSone copied... oh yeah, the SNES!!
- koweja, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6From what I can see, it looks nicer than the GC controller. Hopefully it isn't too small.
