- Zarxrax, on 10/12/2007, -1/+25I bought 20 shares a few weeks ago, I've already earned $70 from it. I'm hoping to be able to use my earnings to actually buy the system and some games when it comes out :p
- uptown, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18nope ... traded on the Japanese exchange:

- MemoryDump, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11I know I'll be buying their new console once it's out. I had skipped buying the GameCube and other hand helds they've released since the N64.. however this Wii will be a must get and you'll be getting your moneys worth BIG TIME!
Welcome back Nintendo to the top spot! - Antialias, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9You can also buy their American traded shares with the symbol NTDOY.
- SkeletaLlama, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I noticed this too. They've gone up every day since E3. Sony shares have been going down everyday since the $600 announcement.
- Antialias, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I bought shares just in time, the week before E3. Nothing spectacular so far, but 6% in a week isn't too bad.
- NinjaBoy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5LOL! Good strategy.
- dongiaconia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Wii doesn't need to dominate--Nintendo's plan is to supplement their system along with consumers that buy one of the other systems. That would result in higher saturation, but not necessarily dominance. Personally, I only plan to buy a Wii until the PS3 price drops under $300 for the 'good one.' I'm sure that'll be a good long wait.
- fatcat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5i have gotten every Nintendo console and i plan on getting multiple wiis for multiple rooms in my house if they are under 200 because i have a TV in every room hooked up to a different system, so when I'm taking a dump i play NES when I'm on the computer i play xbox and so on... but if this system is inexpensive i will buy a big SD card and just put one in the main rooms in my house and just switch the SD card or USB device.
so yeah it will keep going up, i suggest you invest now before it skyrockets when the system launches it seems they have learned from their mistakes form the GC launch and might actually have a flawless launch, but we wont know that until late OCT. - charlesnorbert, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4You can watch the stock rise or falll on Tokyo Stock Exchange at http://www.tse.or.jp/english/index.shtml - the relationship between the Japanese stock and the American Nintendo ADR (NTDOY) is not linear, so watching the Tokyo index will only give you a sense of whether it is rising or falling, but it is fun anyway. My stock has gone up 13.5% and I've made enough dough to buy three PS3. Not that I would buy one.
- JDOG, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Y'arrr, I think they'll see a bit more than just wii benefits matey.
Should jump up quite a bit with DS lite sales numbers after a solid quarter to market in the U.S. - ZekeSulastin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3You realize its still an upgrade over the current gen, right?
If I were actually going to go out and buy a console, I'd buy a Wii - best bang for my buck ... - SkeletaLlama, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3That's actually really good. Imagine how it'll look by E3 next year. Or by the time the Wii is dominating this generation.
- TheCount, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Sony's diving shares has less to do with the price of the PS3 and more to do with the fact that they are... well... SONY.
- dongiaconia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Sign up with Scottrade (or someone like that), send them some money, and then put in a buy order for NTDOY or NTDOY.PK. You have to do a limit order for foreign stocks (with Scottrade at least) so you have to put in a price you are willing to pay. If you actually want it to go through, you have to make the offer a little higher than the actual trade price. The easier way is to just do a market order, where you buy it at whatever the market price is, but it didn't give me that option. If anyone else knows better, please correct me. I'm a computer geek, not a financial expert of any kind. In fact, this is a disclaimer to not listen to anything I just said. :)
- krazikamikaze, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Shares of NTDOY traded in the US are ADRs (American Depository Receipts), which is where american banks buy shares on the foreign market and resell them in the US. They take on a price of their own and don't necessarily have to follow the price in the home market (though they usually do). The fact that they are traded as pink slips here makes it hard to get real time quotes.
More on ADRs: http://www.investopedia.com/university/adr/
It's a shame, I really wanted to buy some shares a few weeks ago but all my money was tied up in other things. - charlesnorbert, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3If you go through etrade.com, simply fund the account. You'll need to wire money and not do an eletronic funds transfer, if you do a EFT, they hold the funds for 7 days before they release them if you want to buy foreign stocks, bulletin board or pink tickets (anything that is not a standard stock on the stock exchange.)
So, wire them money. Then call them same day and tell them you want to buy NTDOY at market. You will get it as soon as your order is received. You need to call, because they won't execute an ADR sale online.
So, wire money into etrade account. Call Etrade, talk to broker, buy NTDOY.PK, that's it.
C - pdiddle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I'm not sure what you just said, it's so full of contradictions.
- tran5557, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I am planning on buying stocks. Could someone explain to me how it works?
- NinjaBoy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I knew I should have dumped my M$ stocks for nintendo.
- o0joshua0o, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That would take another whole website. Have you ever heard of the Motley Fool? Google it.
- Wubbie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Nintendo said it will be less than both Sony and Microsoft's systems... Less than 300 dollars {Congratulations!}
Less than 250 {Yes, Please.} - shortkid422, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hmm, doubt these are going to go down anytime soon.
- Niffer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3You sir, are crazy. But... if you have the money, more power to you!
PS - can I house sit for you? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I bought in on sunday before E3 (put the order in anyway, and I'm currently up 8.5%.
- JoshuaWood, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Isn't Nintendo a private company?
- krazikamikaze, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If you really want to understand what you're doing and not just throw money into the market (that can work too but it's riskier), then I highly recommend you read the tutorials at http://www.investopedia.com.
- dongiaconia, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3NTDOY.PK is the symbol if you want to add it to your yahoo financial list. I bought stock about 2 months ago, it was at 17.80. The only bummer is that you can't get anything more granular that open and close prices. The close price gets posted at the end of the trading day. Google doesn't support foreign stocks from what I can
tell.
I am sure there is a way to get more frequent quotes on a Japanese Nikkei site (in dollars), but I haven't gotten that far yet.

- Digg1234, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1An interesting fact that you all may not know is that nintendo stocks have never been over $30.00 USD a share but am sure there on there way for a new record.
- MySchizoBuddy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Nintendo Stocks are up Since 2003
http://www.marketwatch.com/tools/quotes/printable.asp?symb=JP:7974&siteid=mktw&intflavor=advanced&submitted=true&time=10&freq=2&comp=Enter%20Symbol(s):&compidx=aaaaa~0&uf=7168&ma=0&maval=50&lf=1&lf2=4&lf3=0&type=2&compind=aaaaa~0&size=1&style=1013&customdate=true&startdate=0&enddate=0&linkname=Interactive%20Charting&origurl=/tools/quotes/intchart.asp&rand=604041695 - anagoge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1FINALLY a thread about buying Nintendo stock. I've been asking about this for about a week now but no one has given me a good answer. If anyone is quite knowledgable about buying shares, I'd be very interested to talk to you on MSN perhaps. I need a few more questions answering. My email is possiblydangerous at hotmail.com. Thanks.
- MySchizoBuddy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Not affected by E3 but by their lowering of their future earning estimates
http://finance.yahoo.com/q/bc?s=MSFT&t=3m&l=on&z=m&q=l&c= - skidzilla, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Interesting facts for investors about Nintendo : they used to run a taxi service, a 'love hotel', and are officially 117 years old this year.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo - ghostcat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I'm thinking $200. Like every other console they have ever released.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Anyone know an easy and cheap way to invest? Like an FAQ or Layman's Guide? All I know is the stuff on the commercials, like E*Trade, and their websites are confusing to me. I'd love to start investing, my CD's 4.6% just isn't cutting it.
- robkwok, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think nintendo has to come out with a few games that appeal to adults in the vein of wii sports in order for nintendo to really start dominating
- rocketpocket, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0down .02 cents but Microsoft's so big it probably had nothing to do with E3
- soccerpmn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Anyone know if Microsoft's stocks have been affected at all by E3? Or they just too large of a company what with Windoze and all...
- gamekid, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Nintendo can't do anything stupid after that golden moment.
All it has to do is name a price higher than $300 for the Wii, and buyers will sit out both "next generation" consoles entirely. - mikeazorin, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3I've been thinking about this, lately. What's going to happen if Nintendo says that the wii will be $450? Will anyone buy it?
- pidge, on 10/12/2007, -10/+2I don't know about others but if I was to buy one console gaming system only, it would not be the Nintendo Wii. Its a great second system but with its lower quality graphics, I would rather feel like I am upgrading when I purchase a new console. I have the Gamecube and for the Nintendo cutesy type games, I am sure I can just pick up some games for it. If I want to feel like I am playing tennis, I would rather pick up my tennis racket and go outside and play with friends rather than pretend to play in my small confined living room with friends and a small wii-mote.
