- pondster, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7It could happen if you wanted to pay the fines. You get fined for breaking street dates, depending on the release fines could be $10,000 or more. My store was fined $15,000 when we accidentally broke date on one of the castlevania's, many many moons ago.

If you are talking about in the US, the DS lite commercial is at the tail end of our New Super Mario Bros. commercial. It shows the Lite and the release date. Called and held one at Coon Rapids, MN Target. It was the only Target in the Twin Cities area that had them on the shelves. Got there about 20 minutes ago and the lady at the electronics desk said, "Well, you are lucky. We got a call from corporate and were instructed to pull them from the shelves. - TheManiacKY, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I went to Target in Elizabeth-town Kentucky. And they had them! I took it from Electronics and walked up to the cashiers in the front of the store. I tried to check out and the lady behind the cashier was having difficulty finding the item in the system. :( She called for a manager and then the manager was able to pull up that the item isn't for sale until June 11th. Bottom line they have them, but they won't sell it until the 11th. I'm wondering if the word has gotten to Corporate office and they've sent an update to all the cash registers.

Please respond here - longboarder543, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I worked at Target for years as undercover security, and breaking street dates happens more than I'd like to admit. It used to drive us crazy as we were rated on metrics that took this into account. That being said, Target stores probably already have the ds lite in the stockroom, or they will be arriving this week. You can probably get an employee to sell you one with a little social engineering. Only 1 employee has the keys in electronics at one time, and if an electronics "team leader" is not working, that will be a regular employee. You'll probably be able to tell if the employee with the keys is a team leader or not, and if not, just ask him to check the stock room. If you're persistent, and the employee is dumb enough, you might get lucky. Good luck.

- Ludwig, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Just got back from a "just in case" mission at Framingham Walmart & Target, since when I called they seemed clueless. Walmart is, well, Walmart. It's just a mess of games where the DS's would be- sortof thrown in there. Target has a big empty section on the bottom shelf with a 129.99$USD price sticker. This sticker does not say 'lite' specifically on it, though.

So it's possible that the person you talk to on the phone might be in the same boat and are saying 'no' and trying to coax them to look on the shelf might be worth a shot. I headed over there at lunch and there was only one in the case. I tried to buy it but I ran into the sam problem as The Shagler. The register wouldn't let them ring it up. Bummer!

I have gone to 3 stores (2 targets, 1walmart) around Fullerton, CA and none of them had any DS Lites (or Regular DS systems, btw). I will try again tomorrow. Maybe the West Coast supply is on its way, since many of these posts indicate East Coast or Mid West signtings.

We then went over to the EBGames in the same stripmall and cancelled our pre-orders. The EB guy was ticked and called his main office. -
