- DBiz, on 10/12/2007, -12/+61You forgot the whole RUMOR part.
Buried as inacurrate. - Ignignokt01, on 10/12/2007, -3/+39One question:
Why? If you get a bigger screen, what's the point? To stretch out the resolution to make it look crappy? It's not like it will be using different games. There's a reason why they didn't enlarge the screens with any of the GBA redesigns. This sounds like a load of bull. - vhold, on 10/12/2007, -4/+27The title should stand on it's own as meaningful and correct. You could have used a question mark instead of an exclamation mark.
- iameightyseven, on 10/12/2007, -1/+22Unbelievable: First digg claims the rumor of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots going to the Xbox 360 is factual, even though it clearly was originally reported as a rumor, and now we have this story being mislabeled. Are you people really that stupid?
Digg me down all you want, I, unlike certain people on this Web site, am just stating the facts. - Dihuko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21I actually hope this is NOT true. It is nice for revisions of portable systems to come out that improve usuabilty. But do we really need two DS's within a year?
- obrysii, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16Uh.
Bigger screen + same resolution = chunkier graphics - Stonedonkey, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12Yeah, changing a rumor into a statement -- complete with those exclamation points that Digg submitters love so much -- not cool. But it gets more Diggs that way, don't it?
- hotsoda, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Not to mention that a bigger screen wouldn't automatically equate to more pixels. The DS has a low enough resolution as it is.
- aywwts4, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8No we don't, and I doubt it will happen, they can barely keep up with demand for the lite the way it is. And they have barely even started cashing in on the Lite + New Colour cash cow.
- ReCkLeSsX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8You can only hope this is NOT true. Seriously, I'm more than happy with my DS Lite.
- bluemansteele, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Rumor: The PSP sucks batteries and load times annoy. So even though it has horse power, it's a dud as a portable. The DS will sell better and get exclusive content.
- Ignignokt01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Most people don't upgrade. I didn't. Its only the hardcore kids that keep buying the new versions. I didn't buy the DS phat, but I did buy a DS lite. I'm glad I had the choice, it is better. Here's the difference: you have a choice to buy a newer and better product or keep your old one that still works, or you don't have a choice. Which do you prefer?
- GunsGermsSteel, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Yes, let us hope against hope because right now, that three-inch screen is destroying my eyes. If only it were 3.5 or, God-willing, 3.8.
Oh, the impossible dream! - crashflow, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7damn, DS is turning into the new ipod.
- distrbnce, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6-reportedly
+rumoredly - Nihilanth41, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4They better not...I'm just now getting a DS Lite (for christmas)
- TekeeTakShak, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7Ugh...first the DS Lite, now this? Makes me feel dumb about my 1st gen-DS purchase. Launch date too!
- Nitro187, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I lol'ed at this users comment in the link's comment secion:

"Time to get rid of my DS...again..."
Posted at 2:09PM on Dec 18th 2006 by Eggroll - MrObjectional, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4At least have the decency to put a question mark instead of an exclamation.
Buried. - bpapa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Ummm... yeah, Nintendo has never released a new model "6 months later"... maybe they have done it in the span of a year, but guess what? So does every other technology company, from computer manufacturers to auto makers. There's no law that says you have to buy every model.
So I think I'm more curious on how Nintendo haters will fall for using such a dumb ass argument. - profOblivion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Why do some people seem so upset about this? Nobody's asking you to junk your Lite or even your original DS. This is a way for Nintendo to get people that are on the fence about buying a DS to get out and actually buy one (or more specifically, those who've been saying to themselves, "well, the PSP has a bigger screen... I just don't know..."). Admittedly though, considering the sales numbers recently, I'm not sure Nintendo actually needs the help.
Again, nobody's forcing you to trash your current DS. If you feel compelled to drop $150 (+/-, I'm in Canada) just because Nintendo comes out with a new version of their system, then quit complaining about how Nintendo is giving you the shaft. They're not. YOU are choosing to pay the money. - Scatropolis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The first DS I bought was a lite. By the time I bought it I figured they had enough games for me to take an interest in the system.
- pauleku, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2the screen is fine, i doubt this is true. And if it is: nobody will buy it. Anyways, any bigger, and it would not be a hand held. Thats the whole point of the DS FAT -> DSLite
- Bob042, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I really doubt it. It wouldn't help anything, it would just stretch the graphics out, not improve them.
- DBiz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You're not serious are you?
Warioware
Kirby's Canvas Curse
BOTH Castlevania's
Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time
Resident Evil: DS
Cooking Mama
Super Princess Peach
Yoshi's Island DS
Contact
Mariokart
The list goes on... Please don't talk about a lack of software on the DS. Please. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2 gregharmon are you ***** retarded?
- TroyBenedict, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Good god! Why do we hope this is true? In 2005 I bought an original DS, in 2006 I bought the DS Lite. I'm DONE buying DSes. No more upgrades. This is not a good thing, this is an example of Nintendo bending us over and saying, "Sure we could have given you a brighter DS with a bigger screen, but we wanted you to go through two evolutions of the system before we gave it to you." Oh and no guarantees, about 2008. We're releasing even longer pens that write way more accurately. C'mon. Draw a line and end it there. Nintendo's already proven that you don't need good graphics to make fun games and systems. No new DS in 2007.
- bluemansteele, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Certainly should block anything that isn't a direct link to the story.
Digg is reporting that Kotaku is reporting that Joystick is reporting that EA is reporting liking money. - Malik112099, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2looks like Nintendo might me taking notes from Apple......small upgrades in the same item every few months = people can't get enough of it
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Uhh, that kinda released already. In Japan, Australia, and Europe at least. TBA in US.
http://www.opera.com/products/devices/nintendo/ - bluemansteele, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2What makes you think they will change the proportions of the screen?
Do your games run different on your 15 inch vs the 17 montior? Does your 4x6 Wacom not work on the same software as your 6x9?
SAME PROPORTIONS - AlanKc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Great Idea for the "DS 2" but, not the DS Lite.
I would also like the "DS 2" to have motion control, so It will be an acceptable controller replacement for the "Wii 2"! ;p - miggz06, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1lol
- Nocturnal, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I've been wanting to pick up a DS Lite but now that this rumor has surfaced, it sure has me questioning if I should invest that $100+ on the new Lite or just wait until this new one comes out or if there is any credibility behind the rumor. Ahhhhhhhhh choices. I hate it when companies do this - although it's a good thing but it sucks having to wait it out.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1a- increase screen size
b widen screen
3 decrease hinge size
d throw it out and get a psp jk 8D - sterling1989, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Someone has been snooping
I'm tellin...... - MrBungl3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1No no no! Don't Nintendo!
We all know DS games look ***** when scaled up.. Just take a look at every DS screenshot on the internet.
Just focus on the next handheld and develop games for the DSWii! - Aiwanei, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4gxcdesign: it already comes in different colors.
Though the "4th" generation will probably have super 3d glasses with life like action! (a joke of course) - Ignignokt01, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3They did this with the GBA.
GBA-> GBA SP-> GB Micro. So they'd basically just be repeating a previous business strategy of their own rather than copying Apple's - bluemansteele, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Opera Browser for DS? The European version is out.
- crashflow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1good point, but GBA SP is a major redesign of the GBA, with the fliptop and much smaller size. GBA micro was another total redesign albeit to emulate the old Famicom controller.
This is essentially DS Lite...new improved! with 20% more screen! - Hoffer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Would it be a bigger screen with the same resolution? If so, I will pass. Even if the resolution is upped, then only new games would support it I'm assuming.
I don't see this happening. - jmontez, on 12/10/2007, -1/+2It doesn't make sense. If they made a bigger screen, all it would do is make the resolution look like crap. If they are going to make a newer version, then it won't have that feature.
- profOblivion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1A "dirty marketing scheme" that works. Blame the market, not Nintendo, if people are willing to be sold the same thing multiple times.
- bluemansteele, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Nintendo is /reportedly/ releasing the..."
report:1 a : common talk or an account spread by common talk : RUMOR b : quality of reputation
2 a : a usually detailed account or statement b : an account or statement of a judicial opinion or decision c : a usually formal record of the proceedings of a meeting or session. - bluemansteele, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"They did this with the GBA.
GBA-> GBA SP-> GB Micro. "
You forgot the second GBA SP with a brighter screen. It had a screen that was better that the DS original and almost as good as the DS light. - fallenone05, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I just bought a freakin DS...***** lol
- TheFinestShadow, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1And now of course all you newly-turned (as well as oldbie) Nintendo fanatics will go out and purchase this new DS, if it becomes a reality, adding to your collection of Nintendo's products that were merely a dirty marketing scheme of re-selling the same damn product - including an SP/Micro as well as a Lite and now this.
I'll get dugg down for this I bet, but I have to be honest here. This is just what really irks me about Nintendo - the fact that they re-release the same thing over and over to make more money. And everyone just accepts it... - Splitt3rxx, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I love the DS but COME ON I just bought a lite 6 months ago. I can see why they want to cash in on the success though. I guess maybe I would buy it and give the lite to my sister or my FF obesessed friend who might get one for FF3.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Is anyone else tired of Nintendo upgrading their portable every year or so?
