- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19How come only Japan gets the good games?
- nonfamous, on 10/12/2007, -6/+21Don't all Virtual Console games allow you to save state? It happens automatically when you exit, doesn't it?
- VMark, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15This is not news until Tecmo Super Bowl and RBI Baseball are available.
Thank you. - p0ss, on 10/12/2007, -4/+17I have a wii, if i want cirtual console games, i know where to look, this is not newsworthy.

- cambrown99, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Yes. Required by law. And get that ferret out of there, that's just wrong.
- Travis182, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11Yes...new digital download releases for the three consoles deserves an article. I've seen many more less-than-newsworthy articles on Digg so don't complain. As for those of you complaing about emulators, you must realize you are making the same comparison to games as one could make to downloading movies. Sure, why go buy the DVD, you can download the movie for free. I like playing my VC games on my Wii, stop telling me that we're all stupid for paying money for them.
- ElectricGrandpa, on 10/12/2007, -6/+13"This retarded 'release a few games every couple weeks' is BS, seriously."
Retarded? BS? For who? Certainly not for Nintendo. They made the games, let them get all the money they want out of them. Supply and demand, baby. - Spire3660, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Damn it, I want more N64 games, super mario just aint cutting it anymore. And there is simply no excuse why the Japanese get "A link to the past" and we dont yet.
- GamerGeorge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6This week's releases are certainly better than last week's, but I wonder how much longer it's going to be until we get, oh, say, another Nintendo64 game? Seriously, there's been only one N64 game released in nearly two months and it's one that I've got almost all the stars in (Super Mario 64).
- Ibanez0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6What would really be newsworthy is when they release Chrono Trigger, FF6 and Link to the Past in one week!
- negativefx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7BASEWARS
- samfishercell, on 10/12/2007, -1/+71) Didn't Nintendo promise FOUR titles every Monday?
2) I wish they would stinkin' get on it and release some SNES and 64 games. They have more than enough, most of the games they've released thus far are worthless. Why don't they just go with at least an SNES or 64 game every other week? I purchased Gunstar Heroes, and they announced Comix Zone is coming out Q1 (yay!), but other than that, there still aren't really any games I want. - masamunecyrus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I'd also like to have any one of the four Ys games that were published on the TurboGrafx (Ys IV was Japan-only), and they're also the second-most requested game on Hudson's official forums, last I checked (right under Bonk), too. Hopefully they keep up with the non-Nintendo titles.
- msgyrd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Emulators are only good for some games.
Personally, Bomberman '93 is a great VC game because it can support 5 players (4 wiimotes + a GC controller, or some mix of those). Try playing 4 man bomberman with an emulator. Not only would the control setup likely suck, but it would take a long time to configure as well. - lunarnall, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Nicely put.
Besides, has anyone ever tried playing 4 player N64 games on your computer? It doesn't work out that well. - Chort, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Checking out the web site I have a complaint, the Wii bundle is ONLY going for a low low price of: $530.39USD.
- lunarnall, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4While getting Wii Points by reaching certain points in a game would be the worst choice for Nintendo if they wanted money, I think it would be a nice idea if they gave you 100 or 250 Wii Points for buying a game, controller, or accessory.
- GamerGeorge, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Final Fantasy VI is being released for the Game Boy Advance next month, so don't expect to see that game on the Virtual Console anytime soon.
- meatmcguffin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5While it's still owned by the once-great Rare, it'll suffer the same fate as the always-great GoldenEye.
ie, no chance in hell - verifex, on 10/12/2007, -11/+15Do a Google search for "Big Ass Emulator Disc", something nice for those of us with a modded original Xbox. I think Nintendo should simply release ALL of their old games at once. This retarded "release a few games every couple weeks" is BS, seriously.
- jswinehart, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4How has no one mentioned the fact that the Konami Code doesn't work in the Virtual Console version of Gradius?!?
- metalgod79, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Soldier Blade, is def not crap and worth every penny. Its one of the best arcade shooters for the TG-16. I have the original Hu-card, you def cant go wrong with it, if you enjoy the shooter genre.
Gradius is also another great shooter. There are better versions out there but the NES version is still quite solid. - contradictator, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3And let's not forget those delightful Sega people... So nice of them to join our party. =P
- BabyWookie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Don't diss the TG16, you Nintendophile.
- msgyrd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I'm tired of NES releases as well. The games may be classic, but they aren't worth 5 dollars of my money.
- ahawks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If those games are really all you want a Wii for, may I suggest eBay?
Assuming you don't want to go the emulator route...
SNES: (~30-70, depending on bundled games)

Link To The Past: (~$5)

What's the point of this, so they can capitalize on the "NEW!!" effect? The games aren't new. SRSLY.
- harpwn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I am the undisputed RBI Baseball champ of the world. Go Tigers.
- avidlinuxuser, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Look under TG16. For some reason, it doesn't show up in the other areas.
- NeoKamek, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Seconded Basewars. That game was awesome.
- PhiKapChappy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Agreed. I'm assuming we'll get the "killer" releases once they finally meet demand for consoles. It's really too bad that Nintendo doesn't want my money, i'm very willing to hand it over, they just need to start working those factories overtime.
- rocman9, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6@BabyWookie
No, I'm not trying to put you down personally. No need for that. What I'm doing is putting down your idea that Nintendo should include a function of emulators that really cheapens the original intent of the game. It essentially gives you unlimited continues in a game where there wouldn't be. It's just like playing arcade games on MAME, with unlimited credits. It cheapens the experience because it is, essentially, cheating. - damon5334, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Hmm... apparently I didn't type in the anti-spam code and lost my full post. Here's the condensed version.
I agree that they should at least release a game for each system each week if they are planning on some mediocre releases or at least to keep them from skipping the SNES and N64. For those of you who think these releases aren't mediocre, sorry, it's just my opinion and if you fight me on this, you're only missing the bigger point and that is that there are much better games on the N64 and even the SNES that aren't out because these were released.
Secondly, I agree that it sucks that we have to buy the points to purchase the VC games. I don't agree with a rewards system for achievements because people could just rent a game, or borrow a game from a friend an unlock enough achievements to get whatever game they wanted (and Nintendo doesn't have any sort of incentive to keep bringing out new games). I do however think that we should be able to accumulate points when we buy Nintendo branded merchandise, including games. Rather than just cashing in three titles for some Nintendo Powers, let's cash them in for Nintendo Points. That way Nintendo is still getting a piece of the pie, and the people who are buying their games new get an extra perk. - ErifNeerg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2oh you mean like the 3 other good N64 game? either way but some new ones would be nice.
$10 is way too much if you ask me. - fluffyturtle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Is it just me or is it taking them FOREVER to release virtual console games? I know it isn't a walk in the park for them but jesus, this is almost getting pointless, by the time they get around to a fair amount of games the next system is going to be out.
They have 4 SNES games people and only a single n64 game. They should have started with their best sellers and worked their way down to a point and then focused on the ones with a cult following. Again I realize the console is new but this is nearly useless when there are hardly any games to buy.
ieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
/whine - BabyWookie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Seriosly. Soldier Blade was one if my favorites when I was playing a ***** of TG16 games on the Magic Engine emulator in the late 90's. The PC-Engine version of Gradius is actually better than the arcade version and Life Force is excellent as well.
- contradictator, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I can see Nintendo still releasing FF6 on Virtual Console, for that often forgotten group of people who own a Wii, but not a DS/GBA. Hell, any re-released game from the GBA could show up on there eventually.
- Ravenlock, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I hear excellent things about Soldier Blade, but don't currently have the points to try it out. I did download Dungeon Explorer, and I'm having a lot of fun with it. Basically, Gauntlet ++.
To those bitching about Nintendo charging for these... they're not, at least not in all cases. Hudson Entertainment, for example, sets the cost for the TG16 games you can download on the VC. Nintendo just provides the backbone that allows them to be easily downloaded and played on the Wii. It's not at all unlike what Valve has done with their Steam system.
Yes, you could go download these for free and play them on an emulator. You can get lots of things for free by breaking the law. Do you steal your food, too? They're just games. If you like 'em, pay for 'em. - rewquio, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah, I finally found it. It doesn't say "new" on it like the other new console titles. I know this one was delayed, so they must not have updated the release date on it.
- drlha, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11) No, they didn't.
2) Agreed. - rewquio, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Why do people never consider that playing ROMs on your PC under an emulator is illegal. You will occasionally hear people say "why would I buy movies/music when I can download them for free?" However, for some reason you hear a lot of people saying stuff like this about emulators. Maybe it's because the games have been out of print for so long.
- imikedaman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Another Madden game anyone?"
Um, Madden is a manufactured good... they need to produce the optical media and cases for them. Anything that exists in a physical form has a limited supply. Virtual goods can be copied and pasted, uploaded and downloaded, etc. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I want a wii for link to the past, I cant wait. Or maybe ghost and gouls , contra umm errr for N64 blastcorps, i would love 007 most of all though.
- rewquio, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I just checked the VC and Dungeon Explorer is not on there. Any ideas why?
- weareglass, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've got some pretty fond memories of Dungeon Explorer. I remember it as being a sort of shoot-em-up style RPG with up to four players, and a bunch of different character classes. It was sort of dark in mood, but otherwise a lot like Gauntlet with levelling up. So sort of like the later Gauntlets. I remember my brother and I finally beat it, and I think it started you back at level 1 without showing an ending sequence. But again, I was like 10. Also they spelled Gnomes with a K (thus: Knomes) which I always thought was funny...
- lansuggs, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3yea really. I'm waitin' for perfect dark
- MarkZahn, on 10/12/2007, -6/+7What would be more newsworthy is if I could actually find a Wii of my own.
- rewquio, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Copyright laws are not stupid. Sometimes the way the MPAA and RIAA enforce them is stupid (i.e. suing 8 year olds and people who don't own a computer). However, they serve a useful purpose. It allows companies and in some cases individuals to make money off their work. Do you write free software? Fine, that's your business. Nintendo doesn't and they shouldn't have to.
- BabyWookie, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3If that's what you want to call it, rocman9. Do you have a problem with that? You sound like you're trying to put me down. It's a standard feature in most emulators out there. It makes it very convinient for those of us who love to replay classic games for nostalgic reasons, but would like to do it on our terms and time-tables, with the convinience of being able to save and resume anywhere we like or replay a certain favorite level that we've saved before.
