- pathouston22, on 07/08/2009, -0/+31Playing PC video games long before it was normal to even touch a computer.
"OMG you know how to use a computer? NERD!!!" - mrMunchies, on 07/08/2009, -0/+30My moment was playing Kid Chameleon on the sega genisis. Took me 9 hours to complete 361 levels without being able to save.
- TexasShiv, on 07/08/2009, -1/+31What pompous jackass wrote this article?
At some points, I was actually reading it in the Comic Book Guy's voice.
You don't have to break out the thesaurus to be funny, GameSpy.
*Edit*- I have to name my own proudest moment now. I broke my hand in third grade, and thus couldn't hold the controller to play Mortal Kombat. I thus learned to play with my feet with the controller on the ground, and thoroughly kicked my friends asses with my toes. Glory days, glory. - kingmanic, on 07/08/2009, -3/+29'Knowing More Than the Clerk at Game Stop'
So knowing more about your hobby than some kid making a bit over min. wage. I don't think this is much of an achievement for a gamer.
I'm pretty sure MOST geeks know more about the A/V, Games, Consoles, Computers, or Cars than the hapless sales staff at those stores. Most sales staff get a 30 min meeting to go over their products. They may know which one has the best commission which one people complain about/praise most but they generally know ***** all about those products. Their job is to direct the people to the high margin goods. they only need to know enough about the products to confuse the layman into purchasing something expensive. - madgamer, on 07/08/2009, -0/+24people like to clown on pokemon games, but they were really good rpg's. you missed out.
- DarthVolta, on 07/08/2009, -0/+23Memorizing several 10-hit combos for Tekken Tag.
Also, beating a clan in CS 1.6 and watching them bail out of their own server in shame as soon as the match was over.
Good times. - bixby1, on 07/08/2009, -2/+23Cheat codes have been my co-pilot since I was a kid. My pride is safely stowed away in the overhead containers.
- evets616, on 07/08/2009, -0/+17I'd have to put completing the Legend of Zelda near the top of the list. Bonus points for drawing your own world map.
- badwithcomputer, on 07/08/2009, -0/+17beating streets of rage 2 on hardest with a friend was a pretty awesome gaming moment for me. we had been training for that moment for over a decade.
- ff48, on 07/08/2009, -0/+17i will never forget, when i finished doom2 w/o cheats, it was so amazing feeling inside me!
- PsychoDesigns, on 07/08/2009, -0/+16Repeatedly ass raping a trash talker or a cheater with a knife in COD4 makes the world a better place to live...
- myempyrean, on 07/08/2009, -0/+14I've always been proud to be a gamer.
- omae, on 07/08/2009, -1/+14killing a hacker on counter-strike did it for me :)
i welcome hackers, cuz its funny as hell when u do kill them. shows how much of a noob they are if hacks cant stop u from killing them - cyoder, on 07/08/2009, -0/+13"i did get rather good at Soulcaliber (in the arcade) with one hand."
Really? I can skillfully browse the internet in the same manner. - americanzero87, on 07/08/2009, -0/+12I did that as well. It was cheap, but the people I played with were better than me at it, so I had to use every tool in my arsenal to my advantage. Including putting proximity mines on the spawn locations.
- yocouchdigga, on 07/08/2009, -1/+13if by "THEN BEAT YOU. THEN YOU GET MAD AND ***** UP", you mean, call you out on being childish and proceed to rape you till you leave the game, I'm quite familiar with the scenario.
- diggan8, on 07/08/2009, -2/+13How amazing did it feel inside you? 1 finger or 2?
- morepowerr, on 07/08/2009, -0/+11ya but it was worth the BS. the day you got you first modem and fond a list of BBS'es. Then got a junk dial up account.
- minorthreat, on 07/08/2009, -0/+1153 kills before I died in Desert Combat (mod for BF1942 and one of the most awesome mods ever made)

- Neoanarchist, on 07/08/2009, -0/+10Two thumbs WAY up!
- inactive, on 07/08/2009, -0/+10I was proud of myself when I beat Zelda 2 (gold cartridge). I don't remember my age at the time, but I was really young and I remember that game frustrating me to almost no end.
- phpirate, on 07/08/2009, -2/+12OMG you know how to use a computer? NERD!!!
- DeadPlasmaCell, on 07/08/2009, -1/+11Not a big fan of her masculine shoulders or manly jaw.. I'd still do her though x)
- BoneheadFarker, on 07/08/2009, -0/+9But...did you beat it without using warp pipes?
- vogelshock, on 07/08/2009, -0/+9I was 8 or 9 years old when FFII came out for the Super Nintendo. I kept renting it from the video store, but because I lived in a really small town, my saved game was always still on there the next time I rented it. Eventually, though, I had to stop playing the game because I thought the it was too scary. I would walk around the town for hours talking to everybody over and over again without leaving because the random fights scared the crap out of me! I actually played, loved, and beat FFIII in its entirety before ever going back and finally beating FFII. To this day, those are my two favorite game experiences of all time (and, I might add, I 100% completed FFIII).
- mohawkmoose12, on 07/08/2009, -0/+8I think its kind of ***** that people assume that everyone who works at GameStop is a schmuck who doesn't know about games, because I'm quite sure that I work in a GameStop full of people who enjoy their job and their hobby of gaming. I do acknowledge that there are some people who don't know what they are talkin about in the stores and got hired for ***** reasons, and i hate them too, but when people put down all GameStop employees you also put down the people who love the products and would help you out in a bind. Oh and 100% Ocarina of Time did it for me.
- meed, on 07/08/2009, -0/+8#10, informing a fellow gamer at a video game store about how crappy the game they are about to purchase is. Then watching them choose a much better game to purchase instead.
- warispeace21, on 07/08/2009, -0/+7Or prox mines under walkways. So deliciously evil, so satisfying.
- chris3435, on 07/08/2009, -0/+7I did the same thing for Perfect Dark.
- dagnabbit, on 07/08/2009, -0/+7The first time I TKO'd Mike Tyson.
- ChronicColonic, on 07/08/2009, -0/+7...finishing Zillion on my Sega Master System. Damn I'm old...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzEsgF9Y-UI - nickmas, on 07/08/2009, -0/+7Most recent would be completing Braid without help, minus the stars. Although almost every puzzle piece felt like a grand accomplishment itself.
- Jasper710, on 07/08/2009, -0/+6Beating every stage in Quake 3 on Nightmare.... Not my proudest moment, my example of how lame I am...
- greeniemeani, on 07/08/2009, -0/+6So where do you think people who play video games for a hobby work? Some of them work at Gamestop, and you can tell which ones just work there and which ones are actually gamers by talking to them.
- Jennefah, on 07/08/2009, -0/+6I remember beating my brother at a video game for the first time. I was his 7 year old little sister and he was 15 or so... when I won he was so displeased that he jumped up and punched me in the arm before ordering me out of his room.
I don't care though. Victory was mine. - RGB0099CC, on 07/08/2009, -0/+5Female seems so awkward to me nowadays.
"Hello relations, this is Karen, the female I have been telling you about." - mogdor, on 07/08/2009, -0/+5I gotta agree, finally beating TMNT on the original NES was awesome!
- Neoanarchist, on 07/08/2009, -0/+5Now THAT is an achievement.
- pathouston22, on 07/08/2009, -0/+5***** yeah, Desert Combat rocked. ***** BF2 and its absurd load times, DC kept it simple, yet good.
- Smiley09, on 07/08/2009, -0/+5Earliest proudest moment? Grade two during recess. It was an indoor recess because it was raining really hard. A bunch of us (grade twoers) huddled around an Apple II with the whole green screen monitor like we usually did during an indoor recess. The game? Oregon Trail. I discovered you could walk around while hunting!!! Before this epic discovery we would just stand still, and act like a human turret as we mowed down animal after animal, but after I found out you could walk it became a slaughter among pixelated magnitudes previously unfathomable as we slowly hunted the trail to extinction.
- JCEEZ, on 07/08/2009, -0/+5Dude I had Rampage on 386, on a CGA screen and bleeps/bloops sounds coming out the actual computer, not speakers.
- JCEEZ, on 07/08/2009, -0/+5Proud? Ashamed?
