- chazuk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17I do hope this is true. NiGHTS is one of the best games of the 32bit ERA. PLEEEEEEEEEEASE let it be true.
SSF fills my urge to play NiGHTS, but a Wii version would be superb. - Elranzer, on 10/12/2007, -4/+20Didn't I just see this story a few pages back today?
- kid_kansas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9I think it is a typo, it is actually ONM, which stands for Official Nintendo Magazine. That is the magazine that is issued in Europe.
- LordofChaosIori, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10That doesn't coincide with what the magazine says.
- Eldorian, on 10/12/2007, -6/+14I usually don't mind dupes... but wasn't this on the front page yesterday?
- ReCkLeSsX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Keep in mind that this was in the April Issue.
- PacoDG, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9A little more discussion about this going on here:
http://digg.com/gaming_news/Official_Nintendo_Magazine_Says_Big_New_Exclusive_Game_In_Next_Issue - admirabumblebee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7People who like pretty much every game out there? Just because it's on a wide rail (ala zelda, gears of war, resistance) doesnt mean it's not on an obvious rail.
Very few games these days actually allow you any freedom at all. - PacoDG, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Also for good commentary, over at Kotaku, there was this comment:

hanjo says:
asking google about wii and nights brought me that link:
http://www.wii-gamer.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=63&Itemid=30.
so either famitsu made an april fools joke last year and ONM stole this or there will be nights on the wii. playing nights possibly in full 3d with a wiimote... why not? and sega definitely love the wii.
it would also be breaking news to get nights on vc - since it would mean to get saturn titles as well - panzer dragoon (saga), please?
---- - chazuk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5NiGHTS is all about that "one more go" thing. Improving your score or getting massive chains.
On rails?
Who gives a *****? - sid0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Guess what? I had a Saturn and Panzer Dragoon Zwei (rail shooter). Some of the best fun I ever had.
(Disclaimer: I haven't ever played NiGHTS.) - HanSolo69, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7ZOMG!!1!!!1!!1!1 NiGHTS on the Wii? I start to believe it more and more each week! i mean, they say the 3rd times the charm and i've seen this story on the frontpage AT LEAST 3 times now!
- PuyoDead, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5NiGHTS is by far one of the most fun games I've ever played. I'd be happy just to see a VC version of the game on Wii. I could be wrong on this, but I read somewhere that the reason we haven't seen a sequel is because the developers couldn't think of any way to improve the original game.
- naonao, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Please God make it happen! I love NiGHTS! This is without a doubt the biggest game news EVER!
- poppa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NiGHTS_into_Dreams...
- Griffin-of-UC, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4damned wrong tab, nothing to see here
- lala, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3No it's not, this is concerning the may issue. A spokesperson for ONM has also confirmed the news at neogaf but.. read the quote:
"AND. . . to piss you all off just a little bit, it's no longer a big feature. You'll understand why in due course.
I personally think the stars thing is quite a cool little teaser."
Could mean that it's either not big news, or that they just get to say the title of the game (no preview), or that the news will break on the net first (most likely) - NinjaPig, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Nights into Dreams for the Sega Saturn.... look it up
it was the game that finally dethroned super mario 64 in japan's sales charts...
it kinda sank with the system but it was a pretty crazy game for its time - No1nose, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Wow, NiGHTS is a classic? I remember buying that game when it first came out. I was in Babbages in the Montclair Plaza in Southern California and was thinking "should I buy this, or not?" I'm glad I did. What a game it was! I probably still have it in a box somewhere.
- CIrdan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2this is so weird me and my buddy fished this game out to play on our old sega system, that would be amazing if they came out with a new game for the Wii, even if its just a port for the wii or hell even for the VC on the wii its still going to blow the minds off many people.
- Supernova36, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Yes it was, I have no idea why you are being dugg down, or indeed why I probably will be.
- Hindu_Wardrobe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2There you are! I was waiting for you!
- Inverno, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2When Sega went under and a Sonic game hit the Gamecube/ds/gba I had that reaction. Then I realized Sega had ripped me on 3/4ths of the systems they sold me since the genesis (32x, SegaCD and the Saturn), and what I truly loved about Sega was their software; which they have been brutalizing for at least ten years now.
That said, I was fairly content with the Wii Sonic game, it had a sense of speed that was absent from Sonic Adventures. I'm optimistic about seeing NiGHTS; I'd also like to see a new Knuckles' Chaotix, they should be able to make that game work now. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I wonder if Christmas nights will be included :)
However, I really want to see another Jet Set Radio. I loved that game and they could do some awesome stuff on the Wii. Imagine actually painting your own tags - NikoKun, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Hey what about people like me... that loved Sega stuff, and also love Nintendo stuff? I think this is the pairing of 2 great concepts... =P
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Would that happen to be the APRIL issue by any chance? My April issue of EGM also showed the world exclusive first look at "Mushroom Kingdom Hearts" which features Mario and others in the newest Kingdom Hearts exclusive to Wii.
You know, April Fools... - admirabumblebee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Still play nights into christmas on my saturn :D Love it!
And it would be awesome for the Wii, long as they dont do what they did with sonic (and the secret rings). ugh :( - bolt7, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Nights was an awesome game, a sequal would pwn too. The origional was definatly one of the main reasons to get a Saturn, along with games like Panzer Dragoon, Burning Rangers and Clockwork Knight . Didn't Yugi Naka himself state a while back that he was never going to create a Nights sequal though? He's too busy working on other projects at PROPE, unless someone else is making the proclaimed Wii version. Nights has made a few cameos now, it's about time there was another game in the series. I just hope that if it is true they don't screw it up, the origional is going to be pretty hard to beat. If it is an April fools joke though, it's kind of a sucky one...
- GavinZac, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5no seriously, the wii is for everyone :p
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Not to mention an original copy of X-mas NiGHTS from that magazine. I actually got my copy free LOL.
- LValentino, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2April Fools anyone? It WAS the April issue of Nintendo Power...
- JagoX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Just what I thought...can't answer the question AND I get negative diggs.
...this means I was right...the game is over-rated. - whiteguysamurai, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1You are console agnostic, like i said.
Get a Saturn! - whiteguysamurai, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3If you are, and have always been a hardware agnostic person, great. This will more than likely be the first time you have truly experienced nights.
But if you are a sega faithful, well this should feel something like rape to you, why? Because if you stuck it out when times were tough on the saturn, watching this treasured game to go to (ewww) a nintendo console is just wrong, WRONG!
I'm sure nintendo people would feel the same way if nintendo went under, and super mario playing golf/soccer/racing/bikini mud wrestling went somewhere else, that would make your sad little hearts break.
There is some goodness left in the world, and nights was one of those games that's better left in the past when sega was in it's prime, able to clobber any broken-english-speaking plumber and hand kutaragi his ass back with a hedgehog sized bite taken out of it.
Nintendo fans, do you REALLY want to try nights? Looks on Ebay for a sega saturn and a copy of Nights, and know what true gaming was all about, while you wasted your time playing Hey you pikachu. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Any true fan would still have their Saturn and their own copy of NiGHTS into Dreams, I know I do and still on occasion still play it. I love making links time attacks, nothing better then when you finally figure out how to link entire levels.
- JagoX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Figures...no one can answer the question which means the game is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay over-rated.
- samushka, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0what about her?
- modifiedbears, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3Super Mario Galaxy looks a lot like NiGHTS.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2No, Yuji Naka made a statement that doesn't want to do a remake of the game - because there would be no way to improve the game beyond a graphical scope. Basically stating - the game is as great as it could ever be minus the graphics.
- JagoX, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Yea so like I stated before...WHY is this game so _great_?
I have the original...I have the Japanese Christmas version...I have yet to figure out "why" it is so "great."
...and like I said before...no one can answer my question. So it "might" of surpassed SM64 in Japan (show me proof and when it happened) but SM64 was (and still is) by far a superior game, even to some modern 3D platformers today. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2This is a Dupe
also I would cry and hate Sega even more if they did such a thing - victorguttmann, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0It is coming to Wii. I was suppose to do a focus group testing of the game but had to bail at the last minute.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1I hope its an old school Nintendo IP and not a Sega game.
- Shorties, on 10/12/2007, -7/+4While this probably is NiGHTS I am still looking for a new Kid Icurus game!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Oh geee, maybe people who like fun. I know they can be a strange stock, but I feel as if I were one of them as well.
- benjio, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Coud someone please explain what NiGHTS is? I've never played it before (what game genre does this fall into)?
- GavinZac, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2your mom
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2NOM? What happened to Nintendo Power??
- Spydarlee, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2"I usually don't mind dupes... but wasn't this on the front page yesterday?"
As an explanation for that, when this was submitted the previous article didn't mention NiGHTS in the title (or in the article, which got updated later), so this wasn't a duplicate at the time of submission.
"NOM? What happened to Nintendo Power??"
And yes, that is a typo, apologies! -
