- tavisjohn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2So Sony figures "We have no good games, everyone is complaining, so let's add a camera to the PSP to get people to purchase it!"
PPTTTHHH!!! I'd rather have a DS than a PSP. It has Better Games, and I can also play games I already have.
I could care less about the PSP's ability to play vids and MP3's. I have a LifeDrive and a Treo650, BOTH of them can play vids and MP3's. (And surf the net, and both have better games available than the PSP. LOL) - jmholloway, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2
Great! Now I can do every thing on my psp except play good games! lovely. As usual. - JangoFett, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow, so you can stream video to the PS3. By the time you end up buying a PS3, a PSP2, a PS3 hub, and a movie in whatever new wacky Sony proprietary format they release, you'll be eating ramen noodles out of a shoe.
- grat2001, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1All it needs now is a mic and it could act as a cell phone type device for wi-fi hot spot calling...
- Elranzer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow. A camera, long with streaming video, a web browser, photos, music, etc.
Now all the f*cking needs is GOOD GAMES!!!!
No wonder Nintendo DS is killing this thing... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"A new PSP, less than 2 years from release? No, sorry, only nintendo would be so stupid."
Blashpemy!
The DS Lite is downright erotic. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"alright but this is psp the black psp came out on march 24 i got it wen it came out but guess wat anither psp came out like 5 months later buddy so get updated"
a new color is hardly an update - ateoto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Thats cool and all, but maybe the next one should ship with some games that don't suck....
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"PSP looks like a mature gaming device for adult gamers with Wifi, web browsing, photos, music, umd movies, good graphics, good controller like feel."
Lol I like how you didn't mention good games as a feature because it doesnt have more than 3 maybe.
It doesn't matter what it has, the DS is stomping it in sales. People just want the games, not PC like features. - TheWriteGuy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If they started by making it slimmer and have a longer battery life, that in itself would be a major selling point for the PSP2.
- kotatsu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm surprised they didn't add a touch screen.
Try making some original and must have games for the PSP Sony, that's how you will claw back some of the vast lead Nintendo has over you. - hanshasuro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0While we're speculating, I hear it'll also do your dishes and punch your mother! ;)
- duke_nate, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Lol, maybe sony needs to be focusing on the PS3 instead of getting the PSP2 out.
Sony's gaming devision is on the morphine drip. - shiftless, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0How about some ***** games first? Still waiting for Katamari, Lemmings and Loco Roco.
- MoeB, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0""For example it took 4 years for the PS1 to get updated. (1994 launch and 2000 got a remake)"
ummmmmmm. that's 6?"
LOL - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0PSP2 -- The portable PS3, you can use it as a bun-warmer while the PS3 grills your burgers to perfection. Also, for those who pre-order the PSP2 get a condiment dispenser add-on.
- gronne, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Just sold mine today. While it's a cooll gadget, I realized that I do not really need portable entertainment with me at all times. Instead I'll use that time for thinking.
- armyofnerds, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What about the current PSP? Anyone have any idea what this is about?
http://digg.com/gaming/PSP_camera_on_the_way_ - sahaskatta, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1i doubt this is true! i say its a bunch of BS until i see a press release or some hint from offical sources.
For example it took 4 years for the PS1 to get updated. (1994 launch and 2000 got a remake)
then for the PS2 the original launched 2000 and remake which is the slim one in 2004
there is no way sony would release a PSP2 within a 2 year period!
(unless they have a really good reason)

http://www.SkatterTech.com - smokie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm quite fed up to see rumors on the home page...
- Jaymoon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"...The feature, which will take advantage of the PSP's Wi-Fi support, will be targeted at younger users as the new way to chat with friends while on the go..."
What? You mean to tell me that little kids play handheld video games?!?... Go figure... - m.sandstorm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0While having a video camera is all fine and dandy I would (like everyone else) like to see some more games. It seems that Sony isn't marketing the PSP as just a game console but as an all round multi-media unit. Which could explain the lack in games and the increase in movies for the unit.
I believe that they're sticking to the PS3 as their primary gaming platform while the PSP is more for everything else...music, movies and some gaming. Unit they come out with some new games however, mario kart anyone? (^-^) - Spyne, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1And the PSP moves further away from games. They may as well drop the Playstation bit.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Lame lame lame. A reason I don't even play my PSP now is because lack of decent games. I feel duped for even buying one.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"The locationfree player sounds like a good concept if they don't make you buy more useless gadgets in Sony formats."
The location-free attachment costs more than the PSP, $400 I believe. - vh1`, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"For example it took 4 years for the PS1 to get updated. (1994 launch and 2000 got a remake)"
ummmmmmm. that's 6? - xLiKx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0none of the official game sites have reported this so i'm skeptical this is true. the rumored 8gig flash memory PSP is more realistic but that version is only for taiwan from what i read.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0they need alot more than that for it to be a hit
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"The feature will be targeted at younger users[and pedophiles] as the new way to chat with friends while on the go."
- tmcleroy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Focus on the games Sony! God damn!
- zonk3r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yeah this will make it much better. ooh i can't wait. now i can not play games as well as not use a camera. wow. awesome.
- maram500, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I for oen am sick of hearing about all the advances that might come out on new video game systems. We keep hearing that the next PSP "might" come with a built-in camera and all this techno stuff--but when we actually see the thing, we're completely underwhelmed. Don't post rumors; post what is certain and true. If you can't cite the actual company for stating that their particular product will come with features x, y, and z--don't post it. I don't care if it was a reputable video game magazine predicts it; we can normally read magazines ourselves. By the way, I'm sick of misleading titles in digg stories.
- 40bslove, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0And the PSP moves further away from games. They may as well drop the Playstation bit
lmao introducing the portable - tylerman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0gawd release katamari for psp already
- zbeast, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0PSP poor load times, proprietary CD format, No video out.
First those first. - MacGyver2210, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"the upcoming HUB PlayStation service, which will launch alongside the PS3 and compete directly with Microsoft's Xbox Live service."
Yeah, well, I may be the only one but the only reason I bought a PS2 instead of an XBox was because a lot of the online gaming and crap was free. If it costs me $30/month to play Socom 3 online or any of the games for that matter, screw that - I'll go without. - jamiem, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"By the way, I'm sick of misleading titles in digg stories."
Indeed. - I8PP, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0N-gage by stealth.
- StarWarsFever, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i wish they'd just stick to f'ing GAMES, b/c it's a GAMING SYSTEM. If you want all these extra things, go buy a palm. Adding all of this useless crap just inflates the price and makes us wait longer. F'ing stupid
- gamer31, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is different from the DS lite, PS1, and PS2 changes. All of those still have the same features they are just smaller, this is going to have some new things built in.
- WeeklyGeek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"A new PSP, less than 2 years from release? No, sorry, only nintendo would be so stupid."
stupid like a fox. Do you understand that Nintendo makes hats out of money from their gameboy and nintendo ds sales? - cyberghost232, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I need a built in hdd. the 2 gig mem card just isnt enough. oh yeah and the games suck.
- aurrea, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Did anyone else notice that the other article about the 8GB memory is not in reference to Gigabytes but actually Gigabits?
"....According to data from DRAMeXchange, 8Gbit spot prices have fallen from US$39 to US$34 since Chinese New Year, while prices for 4Gbit parts have fallen from US$23.36 to US$16.60" - cdman98, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0 "Sony’s gaming division is on the morphine drip."
LOL!
No I have both a PSP and DS and got them the first week each came out (big into portable gaming). I got both of them for GAMES! I have had equal fun with both up to this point but looking a year down the road I see my self using my DS MORE.
PSP doesn’t have a bad design, it just lacks quality games.
Also PSP isn't being used to its full capabilities in the graphics department either. Its time for the developers to step up (Polyphony I’m looking in your direction)
Also if Sony released a free transcoding application to get movies and music on the device (iTunes like) then they would have there biggest flaw solved.
Again its not the hardware it’s the software. - CasadeMike, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0A camera?
How about a second analog stick so you can actually play shooter games properly?
How about the larger capacity battery so game developers can crank up the graphics and smooth game play a bit. Did you know that despite having a 300 mhz processor, Sony makes developers stick to 200 so the battery lasts a decent amount of time? They of course had promised the battery soon after launch so the true graphics power of the unit could be unleashed.
If this is true, Sony is really losing it in terms of focus. - ukrdigerati, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i own one and i gotta say the system is pretty bunk, no good games, lumines gets old quick. the size and technology is sweet and impressive though. i play more nintendo and supernintendo on it than i do anything else. now that i think about it i would never have considered the purchase if it was strictly for psp games. so i can just imagine how many sales it loses to consumers who arent computer savvy enough to hack it. poor sony, i see them swirling in the bowl and completely flushed after the bomb that will be the ps3. theyre eating with their eyes and theyll implode... with the nintendo trailblazing like it has, i see sony (gaming) falling before nintendo. with microsoft as the juggernaut.
what i ask is... what was the time span between the gameboy advance and SP? i can see psp going clam shell... - Evari, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0the title of this article missed out the question mark at the end, that page is nothing but rumours. no digg
- astrotrain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Digital Camera? Streaming?
*Bow-chika-bow-bow-bown....1up Sound...* - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0All I want is a second analog stick like they should have done in the first place.
I could care less about any enhancements they make to incorporate elements that make it work with the PS3. I'm never going to buy a PS3 so that does not interest me. - TheDirtySanchez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0YAY!!!! a camera cant wait to pay $300
