- Billiam627, on 10/27/2007, -6/+58The day Bungie makes an MMOFPS is the day I finally sever all ties to the real world and become some sort of human/video game hybrid...
- doodirock2, on 10/27/2007, -2/+38This actually makes A LOT of sense. Peter Jackson loves MMOs and is a known fan of WoW. Seeing as how he is really into Halo as well it doesnt seem like a far fetch. In fact, if anyone could bring an MMOFPS to general mass appeal its Bungie.
- SonicRush, on 10/27/2007, -1/+31You're not thinking outside the mmorpg box. Why does it need to draw you in with a big leveling and story system? Did you see the article about the "DonnyBrook" system MS was developing? http://digg.com/xbox_360/Thousand_Player_Counter_S ... It'll just be another multiplayer shooter, but with epic numbers of players. Like a full-scale war where every player is a real human. I can't wait for this type of stuff.
- SqueakyWheel, on 10/27/2007, -6/+30FReaKin AAAWWWESSSSOME
- yomamaisfat, on 10/26/2007, -3/+24As if Halo wasn't addicting enough already.
- doodirock2, on 10/26/2007, -0/+18That is the worst sentence I have ever seen
+digg - inactive, on 10/27/2007, -3/+21I would love to see another MMOFPS. A Planetside clone with the Halo name could be big.
- DMDekoth, on 10/27/2007, -1/+17I want to play as a grunt!
"DING! Level up! Now I can use double grenade suicide!" - relaxeder, on 04/17/2009, -3/+19Great, I can't wait to get called a tubesteak-munching ***** by my 12-year-old raid buddies.
- Tiak, on 10/26/2007, -0/+13You win at grammar
- TH3W1R3D, on 10/27/2007, -0/+13If its true, hopefully it doesn't go the way of Huxley.. I swear that game will NEVER be released.
- oldtimegamer, on 10/27/2007, -0/+10huh
- doodirock2, on 10/26/2007, -0/+10Like WarCraft? Or warHammer?
??
? - gr0ss, on 10/27/2007, -0/+8PlanetSide was fun, you just had to find cool people to play with.
- linksyslover, on 10/26/2007, -1/+9yeah, I actually think this could work for the MMOFPS.
- Syraxis, on 10/26/2007, -1/+8Good idea, to bad the community is bound to be more immature than World of Warcraft.
- Lixie, on 10/26/2007, -1/+8I wait ever so impatiently for an MMOFPS. Huxley keeps getting delayed; Planetside never lived up to the hype; and now I hear rumor that Microsoft might be making one? Even if true, this game won't be seeing store shelves for at least three years. Hell, it might not even come out on the 360. It might be for the next Xbox.
- masterthiefster, on 10/26/2007, -3/+9So are three-word comments devoid of explanation.
- gr0ss, on 10/26/2007, -0/+6Have you heard of PlanetSide? It didn't have a story line at all, you didn't quest or collect items to turn in to get gold to buy new armor or weapons. You played, killed people, leveled up and unlocked new stuff which you could reset after a while and try out other stuff. It was really fun.
- orca94, on 10/26/2007, -1/+7Of course it will be (if it comes out) Microsoft still owns the rights to the Halo IP. Bungie is off on their own, but they didn't take Halo with them.
- Tiak, on 10/27/2007, -2/+8Bungie, while no longer owned by Microsoft, will be continuing to develop software for Microsoft hardware... And even if they felt like breaking that trend, or Peter Jackson was working primarily with someone else, I'm pretty sure Microsoft now owns the Halo trademark.
- Tiak, on 10/26/2007, -1/+6The halo universe provides opportunities for large-scale wars, which should be the ideal scenario for an FPS MMO... Covenant vs. Earth vs. Outer Colonies vs. Flood vs. Sentinels, all of which have capabilities via general infantry, ground/air vehicles, and in space on a number of planets... This is going to get old fast?...
- Grimdotdotdot, on 10/28/2007, -1/+6"It would probably be an mmorpg in first person, that uses guns"
Um... That would be my understanding of First Person Shooter, yes. - Asianwaste, on 10/26/2007, -1/+6Connection == Hand inside ass
- markwilcox, on 10/26/2007, -0/+5But remember, they announced the Peter Jackson project last year.
- relaxeder, on 04/17/2009, -0/+4Wow, I forgot about Huxley. I was really into that when they unveiled it way back, too.
- Jeffler, on 10/26/2007, -0/+3Just think of all the teabagging...
- Tiak, on 10/26/2007, -1/+4The question would be: How the hell would they handle death? Do they take all RPG out of the concept and say one character, one login, one death, with limitless respawns?... (Which of course would let people advance from a grunt to elite/general infantry to ship commander as they reincarnated), or do they actually let you build characters, in which case spartan-dom might have to be like Starwars Galaxies jedi....
- alexzizka, on 10/26/2007, -0/+3
NEW GENERATION OF GOLD MINERS!!!!! - pudly, on 10/26/2007, -1/+4he's just so excited, leave him alone
- Lemm, on 10/26/2007, -0/+3I think they're saying that because it's correct. Try saying it out loud: an em-em-oh. Because of the way you say the letter 'M' it sounds like it starts with a vowel, thus you would use 'an.' it really has nothing to do with spelling, but with phonetics i.e. 'an hour'
- Exhaust, on 10/26/2007, -0/+3You = Douche
Your Mom = Whore - innocentsinner, on 10/26/2007, -0/+2Captain N?
- loxx500, on 10/26/2007, -0/+2I miss XBL
- Sairgem, on 10/26/2007, -1/+3"Building up" to a spartan would make no sense in the Halo universe. All spartans are taken from an early age to be trained.
- rhkaloge, on 10/26/2007, -0/+2You didn't listen to the whole podcast. He admited the press release was a joke in the second half.
- qishi, on 10/26/2007, -0/+2It'll definitely be Peter Jackson that makes this come true, if it happens. Absolutely.
- JonahNYC, on 10/26/2007, -0/+2Your taunt button makes you scream, "HE'S UNSTOPPABLE! AAAAHHH!"
- MiDri, on 10/26/2007, -0/+2I'm going to have to digg you down, for being wrong on so many different things...
- markwilcox, on 10/26/2007, -0/+2Well they already announced that Peter Jackson's project was.
- HBNDonut, on 10/26/2007, -3/+5Am I the only one that would hate to see the Halo series go in this direction?
- MiDri, on 10/26/2007, -0/+1Look up: Planetside -- they got it right stat wise, game just sucks now a days...
- JonahNYC, on 10/27/2007, -0/+1Massively Multiplayer Online First Person Shooter.
- zdiggler, on 10/27/2007, -0/+1Oh, I didn't listen to the whole thing.
Oh well Morgan and Adam are still annoying. - BigKopp, on 10/26/2007, -0/+1Dugg not only for an MMO Halo, but for the Tony Reali reference.
- Yooree, on 10/27/2007, -0/+1Because that's what I didn't get enough of in WoW; teabagging and 15 year old children swearing at me in VOIP.
- ckengel, on 10/26/2007, -0/+1stop trying to be "an hero"
- aelias, on 10/27/2007, -0/+1I've been quietly lusting for Huxley since I first saw it over a year ago. I don't know how they'll do hit detection with that many guys. The lag would be unbelievable.
- Exhaust, on 10/26/2007, -0/+1Nice one Goon. You couldn't be more clueless yet you continue to post these long rambling comments. You don't even know what MMO means...
- JonahNYC, on 10/27/2007, -0/+1No. The joke was that Bioware was going to make Halo RPG in the style of KOTOR, *not* an MMORPG.
The OTHER rumor out there is Bioware making a KOTOR MMORPG.
You've got your rumors crossed. -
