- drojr, on 10/12/2007, -2/+91I'd hate to become one of those curmudgeons who clings to outdated technology, but ... that looks a lot more fun than most 3D platformers I've played.
- tdiehm, on 10/12/2007, -2/+43Forget the haters, I'd club baby seals to play this game.
- vatchea, on 10/12/2007, -1/+33the DS lite can't come a moment too soon
- Skettalee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+32Dude, i totally agree with you. And that is why Nintendo will continue to be in the industry.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+25I think i saw that trailer 8 times before realizing i was watching it eight times.
It's these kinds of games that are so much fun you ***** forget that there's something called "Time" out there.
Hooray for mario - uziq, on 10/12/2007, -1/+22This is is one of those rare times that it's worth unblocking Flash.
and also the reason why I now want to buy a DS. =D - asteron, on 10/12/2007, -6/+23You want a company to make life easier for people who run Linux? The whole point of Linux is that you are expected to compile your own binaries and write your own device drivers. Instead of complaining on digg you should be joining in on an open source GPL'd project that implements Flash 8 on Linux almost as good as it is on Windows.
//Only half joking - Latka, on 10/12/2007, -2/+19The wall jump WAS present in Mario64 (and it ruled!!)
- cypher35, on 10/12/2007, -10/+27what, you mean 0.0001% of their audience?
- uziq, on 10/12/2007, -3/+18I sure hope so! ^_^
- dominowrecker, on 10/12/2007, -11/+25you alienated yourself by using a non-standard OS for a general use machine.
Please note that I am a linux head...but I know enough to understand that its not the standard / hence these things are to be expected. (and not the fault of the content provider) - UezeU, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Mario64 and Zelda:OoT proved that the successful marriage of gameplay and 3D is possible. Blame it on the developers for losing sight on what is important, not the technology.
- dclowd9901, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Between the DS, and the Revolution/Wii, In 15 years time, we will be all grown up, and remembering back on this time as being Nintendo's Second Coming.
- Lyke, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12Well not in a side-scroller is what they mean.
- n3rrd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8To a clubbed baby seal?
- Annon, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Geez, this is going to be the best game ever!
- ShadowGT, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Buy one so you won't miss the fun! ^_^
- DoctorShim, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8I'd make love to one.
- decompyler, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Exactly! I have been morning the loss of side scrollers to new consoles for a while.. While 3D graphics are neat eye-candy, 3D platformers are just not fun to play due to the unsolvable camera problem that add an extra challenge that was not intended for the actual game play. So you spend most of the time on these 3D games fighting the camera angles when you should be enjoying the game. Since you are not immersed in the game to take advantage of 3D elements (eg. depth perception, peripheral awareness), I believe the most playable games are games that do not require you to control a character in a 3D environment but rather has 3D elements to make it look good.
- hungarianhc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Can't. Wait. For. This. Game.
Actually, I hope that at E3 we get a few more announcements because while the DS has been on a hot streak, the only huge games in the pipeline are Mario, FF, and Zelda.
... and oddly enough, I'm rather excited for the Disney edition of Meteos... - o0joshua0o, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Can't your machine dual-boot into Windows for cases like this?
I'm not saying it's good. I'm not saying it's right. I'm just saying you should retain some flexibility. - DoctorShim, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Do extrapolate upon thine argument, human.
- threepio, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Spence, contrary to the above statement, does not rock.
Spence led a lonely childhood. Spence was not allowed to have an NES. Spence wept. A lot. It's tough to be Spence. Spence lives in Europe - where they don't get games for months after they're released. Spence is bitter. Spence wants Justice(tm). Spence weilds the mighty hammer of irony and the sickle of sarcasm. Truly Spence is a paragon of platitudes.
Sadly Spence had his fun glands removed as a boy.
We feel for you Spence. - pdiddle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6There are plenty of people who use GNU/Linux and not for some kind of cool look at me im different factor. I use it because it is a better OS for what I need, plain and simple. I've have 2 64bit computers, one of which ive had for 2 years now. I switched to linux because I wanted a 64bit OS. Last I check windows *still* isnt proper 64bit. The proprietary codecs, flash, etc. are all 32bit. If I spend a lot of money on a computer, I'd damn well expect the OS to support it in a reasonable time frame.
Anyway, Im a bit peeved too this is Flash 8, especially since I see no reason why they couldnt of used Flash 7 and been compatable with all the main OSs. Oh well, ill check it in college I guess. - Quarks, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6This looks awesome.
If they will bring the good old 2D side scrolling plumber back to the Wii, I'll buy one immediately.
I've always been a playstation guy myself (not really a fanboy), but lately I'm shifting more and more towards Nintendo.
They bring the fun back in gaming. - Flynnz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5@evilempire
not 8 :( though I'm sure adobe will get their ***** together at some point. - sinfony, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4The gameplay does look excellent, but I wish they'd release a video showing a couple of levels being run start to finish. I'd really like to know if the levels are going to be more like the SMB 3 style straight side-scrolling levels or the Super Mario World style levels that go vertical as much as they go horizontal.
- Flynnz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6@Gdjrptryjg
hey I agree that standards should be open...however its a dream to think thats always the case. And as of right now there are a heck of a lot more people that have Flash compared to Linux. So imo that makes Flash more of a standard for web than Linux.
In other words why should they dumb down the site with some sloppy JS to try and get a similar effect to Flash? So the very few people who visit that site with Linux will be impressed? Thats not the way it works...go to sites that showcase GNU based gaming, I think you will be much happier. (cause we all know how great those sites are) - Arramol, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I don't either, but this game may prompt me to do something about that.
- asteron, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Is this really pre-rendered? I would think the 3D capabilities of the DS are up to the task. Do you have a source for that?
- Catachresis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3would anyone like to be mega-nice and youtube this one, just like the last one was?
kthx - Cerebral, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@decompyler
Do not forget that it was bad camera angles that gave Lara Croft her popularity.
I don't know how many people I knew that would purposefully get her stuck in the corner or on a ledge just to have the camera freak out and end up zoomed into... well her... and/or her... - Buckets, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Goombas are twisted and evil mushrooms.
- Gdjrptryjg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@Flynnz
Might be true, and Gnash is just going to implement Flash 7, so no help from there either. - illegal_op, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7I think you mean Goombas.

http://www.retronintendo.com - bob_the_alien, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Oh, can't wait for this game, I love the DS, had it since the day it came out, and have loved it ever since, and I'm very seriously considering buying a DS lite, in fact, after seeing Cabel's video's I pretty much know I'm going to buy one.
Wish I could say the same for my PSP, bought it, played untold legends, and then until Untold Legends 2 came out, didn't even touch the thing, just no games to hold my interest. I know the PS3 won't be that way, well I'm hoping anyway, but as of right now, between games and the innovation that Nintendo has been giving us, I'd rather have a DS, and a Wii over anything else. - affinity, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6oooh man I may have to get a DS lite just for this game
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5> Flash should not be a standard way to do web graphics. Standards should be open.
The libraries that Nintendo uses for DS games should not be a standard way to program games. Standards should be open. - Gdjrptryjg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@Flynnz
Of course they don't own us anything, but this kind of things bother me more than their odd console names. Nice to have an actual conversation here for a change. - metajoe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Here's another great reason to get a DS. ^_^
- ahhell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Damn it...now i have to get a DS. LOL
- evilempire, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Unless I am on crack - isn't there a Linux Flash plug in?
- newevilmind, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2this game looks really fun.
- sremick, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3So just because our OS is free, means we don't pay for stuff, eh? I'm pretty sure the hardware I run this free OS on wasn't "free"... in fact, I remember paying a pretty penny for it.
As well as my TV, stereo system, DVD collection, all my kitchen gadgets, my nice car... no, obviously since my OS is free I'm not a consumer who buys stuff.
Hey, your web browser is free, guess you don't buy stuff either. - Flynnz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4cause perhaps they felt that it wouldnt showcase the product in a fashion they would like. And again since almost everyone has Flash, they probably felt that it wasnt necessary...though I guess I can see your point, I also dont think they "owe" us linux users anything. Cause after all WE decided to use an OS that is non-standard, so the fault is our own in this case. Though having said that I use XP for general use, so I really dont fall under this :)
- bpapa, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3They looked pre-rendered to me... in the same vein as the Donkey Kong Country games, or the Mario vs Donkey Kong for the GBA.
you are right though, they might not actually be PRE rendered, since the DS might be able to handle that. They might be done on the fly.
Either way I just kinda missed the charm of the old-school sprites. - Sairgem, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Yes dual-boot so we can look at flash sites.
Nah. - quentinp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Looks like a lot of fun...and I'm sure it'll be a change of pace from Oblivion...but I don't have a DS...yet
- Wyattx17, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That's it, I'm buying a Nintendo DS. I have a long road trip to Canada from California this summer, and looks like this will keep me occupied quite nicely!!
- kaniz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I love the throw-back to the oldschool feel. I dont like the new 3D platformer games, they miss that 'something', but this looks killer. Between this and Zelda, the DS Lite is creeping up on my list of items to buy.
