Max made a great character and had some good memorable moments in the games but even though the games carried his name, it wasn't about him. It was the setting, the dialogue, the noir theme. With all that gone I just don't feel that interested in this.

ANYWAY
They ruined my favorite video game characters in order to make a long over due and bound to suck sequel. The part that really sucks is how long fans waited for the movie, the third installment of Max Payne AND Sam Lake's new game Alan Wake!

I'm not opposed to either of these ideas, but jesus christ...there's a reason why these games were popular, and the setting and character continuity has a lot to do with that.
I won't write off either, because in the end if they're good games, I'll check them out, but I am digging a hole in the ground so that I can bury my expectations in it. - jer21, on 06/24/2009, -0/+10The character was a small part of what made the first two Max Payne games great. The noir setting is what most people liked about the game, the greys, the blacks, and the blood.

It's impossible to tell from screenshots whether any of that is true.

But don't completely change everything about a specific character/ setting/ franchise and then still use the same name. Its disloyal to the integrity of the franchise and its fans.
I'm not saying it should be a carbon cutout of the previous games regarding environment, gameplay and so on, but there needs to be some continuity. When you lose continuity, you lose the plot (literally in some cases it would seem). Just my opinion though. - finklehorn, on 06/24/2009, -0/+4i'm appalled.
