- praisethelard, on 06/06/2008, -0/+21And every round humans would win!
As it should be, as it should be. - GawtMilk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16They should incorporate the Windows Gaming Live cross-platform compability and make it like...in multiplayer, XBox 360 players are covenant, PC players are human. That'd be ridiculously fun!
- autocrawler, on 10/12/2007, -3/+18Yes, because EVERY multi-platform release has to have crossplatform play.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12And you think Microsoft would miss out on the opportunity to promote this with cross-platform play on Windows Live?
- MacSawD, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14I wish they didn't pull the PC version of this game. It would have been so freakin' awesome if it was multi-platform.
- strictnein, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Where did the delays for Halo 2 occur, exactly?
Oh, you mean how they didn't meet random fanboy generated rumored release dates? - GretHitA, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9This game will kick ass if we dont suffer delay after delay like for H2
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5How could anyone possibly blame them for stopping halogen after they decided they would release an RTS of their own?
- Aharoni, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4@toiletduck
How dare they close Halogen? How dare they to close down a project that is using the intellectual property they spent millions to build and would be directly competing with their own game?
When companies shut down fan projects of dead brands - its not fair.
When companies shut down fan projects that are not competing with anything and they're not even games - its not fair.
When companies shut down fan projects of games which will be directly competing with a retail game - its fair. - Aharoni, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Since when did the UNSC start sharing designs with GI JOE?
- topace3000, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4oh toiletduck, you are full of contradictions and anger.
- hadimirza, on 03/26/2008, -5/+8looks...*****....awesome......
Sorry i had to say it, Digg me Down - Tebixan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Have there been any cross platform FPS? Everyone always assumes that the PC gamers would dominate, but the sensitivity of the thumbsticks can be ratcheted up pretty high. Though varying PC speeds would factor into this as well. Someone with an older PC might have to deal with lag, whereas a state of the art PC might give an edge over the 360.
- solidhubris, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'm thinking we'll see this vehicle in Halo 3 as the human equivalent of the banshee. Would make sense since they're going for that epic scope, and banshee on banshee dogfights are gay.
- rstarr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Oh really?
You've played it?
And in it's final version...?
So whats life like living a year in the future? - inactive, on 05/12/2008, -1/+3I remember reading about Halogen some time last summer, thinking it would be fun, and then forgetting about it for a while. Now it's gone? Damn damn damn.
Kind of a stupid move on Bungie's part, considering that it probably wouldn't have affected the official RTS's release at all. (And from the looks of things, that may be a long time coming.) - TwistedMenta, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Since when did GDI start sharing designs with the UNSC?
- strictnein, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2The reason mod makers do stuff like Halogen is that it makes it so much easy to create your mod. You don't have to think up new and unique ideas, you just copy someone else's ideas. The Halo universe is worth tens if not hundreds of millions of dollars. The idea that Bungie/MS should be okay with some random group of people diluting its value is absurd.
- strictnein, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Why? That doesn't make any sense.
- osbjmg, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3PC gamers would win every time, come on... thumbsticks vs. a mouse or a real joystick? No question - but a great idea!
- Duamerthrax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@tebixan
On the Dreamcast. Quake3 and I think UnrealTournament. Those you could PC players verse DC players. - rstarr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Seriously?
Bungie has never released a Halo game that wasn't in the direct story arc. Halo Wars is so far the only game outside of the Master Chief story. But also, it's not just an RTS with a Halo skin, it's a game built within the universe using all of Halo's races, planets, technology and deep mythology. Bungie has not been concerned with simply milking their Halo cow, they have only released 2 games after all.
You want a franchise that does that?
Megaman, Pokemon, Dynasty Warriors, Final Fantasy, Mario, etc.
Halo is a great game in the FPS world, but it was built as an RTS so this is going to come out very natural in my opinion.
If you guys are going to try to hate on Halo, you've got to do some research first. - toiletduck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You are right about them taking too long with it, but using the reasoning they used to kill Halogen, it very well could be used to kill flash content as well. I just cant see the point in them killing a mod that, rather than competing with a Halo RTS, would have made people more likely to buy it.
- RoadDoggFL, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Bungie said it would be released in 2003. It's in the EGM 2002 blowout article that ran with screens from the teaser trailer. If it wasn't delayed, Bungie wouldn't have posted a message to fans in 2003 announcing that it wasn't going to be released that year.
The game was delayed once, the March, April, May, and June rumors were fanboy/irresponsible press-fueled rumors but it was still delayed once past 2003.
Stop spreading this FUD that Halo 2 was never delayed. It's getting old. - Konrad9, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1And when EGM says something Bungie *didn't* say, it means Bungie said it?
- watership, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Console RTS's are shallow? Lord of the Rings Battle for Middle Earth II was an exact copy of the PC game. Only the controls were different. The New Command & Conquer 3 is a direct clone of the PC version, just different controls. Where is the shallow?
- RoadDoggFL, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Because it's hardly a threat?
Next thing you know you'll be calling for them to go after flash content. After a while you're just stifling the community. Let it go.
Besides, Slipstream didn't have to take 4 years to release a mod. It could've been released several times over with the time Dis and co (I only single him out since I knew him at the old HOF forums) had been working on it. - toiletduck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1So, because Halogen infringed on the Halo IP, why didn't MS shut down every other fan made project? I mean, if Halogen riled up the vultures nest, why did they let Halo Zero go? If one case of fan appreciation can be considered IP infringement, than why not all? Seems like blatant hypocrisy to me.
- Konrad9, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1How did they delay the game when the only announced release day was the day they actually released it on?
- Metaridley, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I'd so buy this if Bungie acted as developer, not Ensemble.
- yanikleo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I still hate Microsoft for purchasing Bungie (and Lionhead studios for that matter)
- scomartha, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0I can't believe it! Are you people blind to vote for THIS?
- crossers, on 07/21/2008, -0/+0Here's what it translated to:
"Halo Wars on Xbox 360 gives us sign of life today with this single news image. Thus, the new title of Unit Studios, the creators of Age of Empires, is shown timidly with this image illustrating a vehicle named UNSC Sparrowhawk. Let us recall that Halo Wars will be a play of strategy in real time in the universe of Halation. Alas, no date of exit specified for the moment."

http://www.pmidsig.org - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I'm amazed how Halo fan-boys buy into this ***** hype over and over.
If there's not real motion and actual game-play, it's marketing.
Suckers. - thegreekgeek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It looks like an Orca.
- championchap, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1"Belinda, what have you done? You've started the great cat bun wars!
Nooooooooooo!!"
~ Perfect Hair: Forever - TheRingmaster, on 10/12/2007, -11/+10Still pissed about Halogen, would have been great.
Also, the article says they need more pictures before they'll be convinced Halo can be made as a good RTS, which is silly because Halo was originally going to be an RTS anyways.
I don't have a 360 but I'm still looking forwards to playing it courtesy of those who do. - Wytefang, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Yawn, a console RTS? Not gonna work real well, control-wise. Furthermore, find a more interesting setting, Ensemble. They've really sunk low these past few years - first the uber-boring Age of Empires 3 (wow, colonials, indians, and settlers what a fun variety of units..) now this? At least they're leaving the genre to the experts (THQ and Relic)...
- slickrick2k1, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I believe you meant to say, "ghey"
- Darksaber11, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3Wow... an RTS... that isn't coming to PC... Heh, I just lost a lot of respect for the Halo franchise.
- DarQraven, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2What, seriously? They trashed the PC version?
Well ... goodbye Halo Wars then!
The sad thing is, even though a console RTS is usually very shallow, it'll sell like hot ass because it's got "Halo" on the cover.
I wonder when they are going to release Halo Tetris... - toiletduck, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2They killed it by claiming copyright infringement. They should have done the same to every other fan made Halo project if that was the case. At least it would had rid the world of some truly horrible fan fiction.
- toiletduck, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3Isnt it a little early for Halo fanboys to be up?
- oosnoopy, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2Really bad game. :(
- beelz, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1http://thelastboss.com//ul/
- mark076h, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1i want Quake Wars :(
- toiletduck, on 10/12/2007, -9/+1After what they did to Halogen, I swore I would never touch anything Halo related again. This did not change my mind.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -15/+5I'm glad its console only. That way we don't have to worry about how much of an advantage PC players would have over 360 players.
