- mmgreenmms, on 10/12/2007, -1/+33That looked like someone took the models from Gears of Wars and replaced them with Ghostbuster models.
But, I hope that this game goes to production, because I want to knock the crap out of the Stay-Puft Marshmallow man. - kablammo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+29Well, we obviously need to figure out if this is real or a hoax.
If only there was somebody we could call.... - 4rch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15Please not a mod, please not a mod, please not a mod!
- ginrummy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15Don't cross the streams!
- boomerxl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Goldeneye.
- Wamzlee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Ray: verything was fine with our system until the power grid was shut off by dickless here.
Mr. Peck: They caused an explosion!
Mayor: Is this true?
Venkman: It is true.... This man has no dick. - Flummoxer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12@autorock
There are a handful of Star Wars games that are pretty good (ie. Knights of the Old Republic). - Torx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Sony does own ghostbusters
- jewdiknight, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10If its for PS3 only then that really sucks. Its like when Egon gave that cute puppy to the kid to play with.
Egon: Let's see what happens when we take away the puppy. - unicornhunter, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11I just want some of that 'Slimer's slime-in-a-can' they used to make.
- loudthing, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11A Chrysler 300 ECTO-1 ?
- osc1882, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Does this mean that there is a new movie on the way?
- mst3kcrow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Maybe it's just me but it feels off without the ghost traps.
- triblinator, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12here is the difference: wii makes games like that fun where the "tried and true" version would just be a crappy movie based game. people get excited because it breathes life and inspiration into the same, tired concepts such as a free roaming 3d shooter. If this came out as a normal joystick + dpad game, it would be inferior to 20 almost carbon copy games, like gears. THATS why its good to be just 'something new'
- ohnnyj, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8I remember playing the old NES ghostbusters 2 game. I loved that game but never could finish it. That being said, I welcome a new game. Does this mean a new movie might be in the works?
- TRUEPATRIOT, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8for the ppl saying it looks like a mod for gears of wars how would they mod it and play since they haven't fully hacked a 360 yet?
i think this is a real game looks too done to be a fake..
cant wait to play as Bill Murray =D - daleksarewimps, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9This is fantastic!
But i think its a mod. Look here: http://www.destructoid.com/elephant/photo.phtml?post_key=29260&photo_key=2243
You see that face in the upper right corner, in the blue light? General RAAM. - Kido1986, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Guys, play Elebits for Wii, it feels like you're playing Ghostbusters.
- aupton, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Ghostbusters is one franchise that could use one last round of good exploitation. I'd only hope that a decent company would pick up the license, UbiSoft!
- imdwalrus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6You know, considering the reaction that this is getting, isn't there a SLIGHT possibility that the reaction to these vids online would be enough to help push an actual game into production if these are mods?
Either way...I want me a Ghostbusters game. Please? :) - saunderez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6To all the people that are saying this is a Gears of War mod think for a minute.....
HOW?
Gears of War is only out on 360. And the 360 isn't the most mod friendly device in the world... - Autolycus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I'm still not sure if this is a mod of Gears of War or a game in-production, either way it's really nice to see something new with the Ghostbusters. But for some reason I have a gut feeling this is the real deal -- meaning a game in the production stage. Watch the video of Dr. Venkman talking to the press. The ticker below states that the Ghostbusters save the world for a third time and the U.S. pulled back the "End of the World Declaration." If you can recall, the third movie was to be set during Dooms Day/Hell on Earth. So, this leads me to believe that they are doing what the Evil Dead games have done, and continued a great story & franchise into gaming.
- TaeK, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5damn ran out of edit time.
Also: Take notice on their ghostbusters logo ~ taking the 'spraycan' effect onto it, much like the skull design of the GoW logo, complete with paint drips and everything. - jayesbee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Yes, I was thinking the same thing. It could possibly be elevated to more than a "mere" FPS if the traps and their placement somehow were part of the gameplay.
Also, is it just me, or did Bill Murray look like Mr. Body from the "Clue" movie? - blankman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5That's the Stay-Puft guy
- indiraider2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Sony does own ghostbusters
'
if I remember correctly sony also 'own' both spiderman and james bond but those games are multi platform - noreturn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I really hope this is real, if only so I can cross the beams and see what happens.
@TaeK: How does game art have any bearing whatsoever on the final product? - bradford, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4That would be "bad".
- Inverno, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6That Riddic game was pretty good.
- jewdiknight, on 10/12/2007, -6/+10Wow, I hope this comes out for the Wii, it would be great to use the wiimote as a proton pack. Although I would prefer a more classical Ghostbuster game, I realize that this is better then nothing. Plus it looks like they are keeping to core Ghostbuster character which is great. I hope that Louis Tully is a playable character. Multiplayer will be fun if you have to make sure not to cross the beams.
"Nice doggy, maybe I have a milkbone." - christoscamaro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I recall the director stating that Ghostbusters 3 will never happen.
Which sucks. I love the original. - bwjacket, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3When I saw the title my heart jumped to my throat. Then I saw the footage of what is a bastardization of a classic film series. By the way, in the interview clip, it is just a line from the movie, but on the first video it is clearly Bill Murray's voice saying "... we'll figure it out" which would be a new line.
- ragunax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Man. The videos look fantastic. A Ghostbusters game like THAT would be awesome!
- tokyopimp, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5MAKE IF ***** HAPPEN!
I love The Ghostbusters I love Bill Murray, and Sigourney Weaver, and Dan Akroyd, and RICK MORANIS FTW!
Bring it on people, I ***** had the jumpsuit and the gun/backpack thing, and the ***** trapper device as a kid. I don't even care if this is a mod, just give it to me NOW! - RevnCliffie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3And keep in mind that most movie to game conversions are rush jobs to ride on the wave of the movie. There would be anticipation sure, but not the same kind of "Out the door in 4 weeks while the movies still hot" mentality. They could take their time and do it right.
- SharkyTech, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3F**king Awesome! I've always wanted to use the positron stream gun in a game! What exactly was the guy fighting in that video? They looked solid and seemed to die if u just zapped them enough, which isn't right, in the movie they could only move them with the streams and then had to trap them. Not that I know all this or anything...
The game-play does look really repetitive, so heres hoping it is only a concept or very early test video. - Torx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3wow, thats a very good eye you have there.. now my skepticism is up!
weird... - Insert31990, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4The destructible environments were really uninspiring, and this looks like a Gears of War mod to a degree.
Now! Nay-saying aside, this has badass potential.
It's obvious that Ghostbusters + Wii = win, but this looks like it was controlled through standard joystick means ... but there is always hope! - TaeK, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@noreturn still doesn't explain why that General RAAM is there and how the footage of the character running looks so similar to the GoW roadie run and the over-the-shoulder perspective looks a hell of a lot like the position you take in GoW when u shoot from cover
- daleksarewimps, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3to 4NDr01D:
Ecto-1 is a 1959 Cadillac ambulance/hearse. - alvarohavok, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Oh dear God, don't play with me, i have a weak heart...
- enignock, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@autorock
"No, actually, it's not obvious that Ghostbusters + Wii = win. Why do so many people think that any gaming activity that involves the main character holding an implement of any kind in their hand automatically assumes that "this is perfect for the Wii!"? I swear, it's as if everyone's lost all common sense when it comes to the Wiimote versus the tried and true analog sticks and dpad. Yeah, I know...the Wiimote is something new, kudos for that, but it's not the answer from on high to be applied to every game mechanic from here unto infinity."
Mostly because the wiimote/nunchuck are meant to replicate an implement of any kind in your hand.
Have you played COD3, sure it isn't perfect but it is a great start for being out within a month of the consoles release. I have been playing FPS since wolf3d and quite frankly the only thing that is going to make console fps ever stand up to pc fps is going to be an implement such as the "wiimote". You simply cannot aim as fast or accurately with a traditional controller. As for fan boys screaming that this would be perfect for the wii.. no *****. How could you possibly think that any other control scheme would be as satisfying? If the PS33 or 360 had a wiimote I would be jumping on their bandwagons but unfortunately they don't. - gconeen, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3uh, he never roadie ran. and it's being made by zootfly.
- Mark_DeRidder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2the Chrysler 300 ectomobile is pretty hilarious. Anyhow, I feel there is more that can be done with this franchise and I would love to see another game or movie. But instead of updating it for our time... make it feel like it's in the 80's... with desaturated colors and blooms. Those movies were pretty raw, and the first one always felt better looking than the second with the pink slime.... it should be clear!
More ghostbusters please!! - advancedOption, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Kinda looks like the source engine to me. Some of it even looked like stuff from Garry's Mod. Mmmm having another look, a few of the sound effects, the glass shattering particles... I'd put money on it being a mod for the source engine.
- captjc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The PC version was even worse. It was hard as hell (but was pretty funny though). What was worse was the manual seemed to be written by the marketing people. It loved to use the buzz-phrase "To add to the fun" to describe something hard.
For example, something like "every time you loose a man, they get sent to Park View Insane Asylum. You have to bust them out by climbing to their room. But to add to the fun, we are not going to tell you what room they are in, though they will probably be somewhere near the 60th floor, you only have one minute to complete the level, every room is booby trapped, and orderlies and other inmates will try to stop you." - Chairmonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2So what if it is the Source engine? Tons of games are using it these days, and they've ported it to 360.
- christoscamaro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I would love this! Expecially if it followed the first movie and had traps and such.
Hell, I love these videos. Just make it happen! - trubbleshute, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah, and further more, why do they look like members of a swat team? The proton packs look like something out of unreal tournament, not from a movie dated mid 80s
- trubbleshute, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2New movie will never be in the works, script for Ghostbusters 3 was written, Bill never signed on.
