- digg it
- harris1123, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13It's been confirmed by Epic that the new content is due on Wed. 10th. http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2007/01/08/new-gow-maps-coming-thursday/
- GawtMilk, on 10/12/2007, -45/+2Is that what GoW looks like? It looks like someone opened a screenshot in Photoshop, applied a Gaussian Blur and set it to screen. That is disgusting.
- xerus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+36Wait, Epic is delivering free content? Why doesnt EA take some *****' notes on this?
- chris9902, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10"Epic is delivering free content?"
not quite. It's the Discovery channel who is giving us this content. - PoVRAZOR, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2The Discovery Channel?! ... Wait? How does this benefit/promote them? Sure, I'll take some free content, but really, how is this economical? In game posters?
- chris9902, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3it's just advertisement for some new programs they are showing. They are also giving away 2,000,000 MS point.
http://www.joystiq.com/2007/01/08/discovery-channel-giving-away-2mil-ms-points/ - Parasocks, on 10/12/2007, -32/+2To get the content, you need Xbox Live, yes? Which carries a monthly/yearly fee... So how is it free?
- MouseCircus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11@Parasocks
I hope you're uninformed, and not attempting to troll. Provided you have an internet connection, everyone has access to the downloadable content.
Paying for a gold account simply grants you the privilege of playing games online. - spikes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Epic aren't ones to charge for additional content after their games are released. They are dedicated to fans. Just look at the UT series and their history of providing all the free addon packs.
- Parasocks, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Uninformed :P
- picosan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3From Parasocks slight PoV, yeah you would have to pay for the better Live...but only to get the best from multiplayer, which I rather would do because Local is pretty horrid (damn screen watchers). Unlike some other folks though (cough*EA*cough), they don't charge you a fee on top of that Live Gold Fee. If one way of doing this is having network sponsors or even outside sponsors, hey, I'm all for it. I just hope in the middle of a deathmatch though, I don't get those pop ups on the bottom right corner to watch for a new Discovery Show, say like 'The "Exploiting Irwin's Daughter" Show.'
- Nobi-Wan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8So some Halo 2 maps were sponsored by Mountain Dew and were free and now Discovery Channel is sponsoring some Gears of War maps? Doesn't EA have a ton of sponsors IN GAME and their games are still $60 and extra content also costs a *****-ton of money? I don't get it...oh wait yes I do. They're money grubbing whores.
- bigturns, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2this just in GOW was really fricken great for the first 25 minutes. then it was the same ***** over and over for the remainder of the game with the exception of the big spider thing and the ending sequence. ok, the sound was really cool, and the special effects were uber pretty.
really though, isn't it time for game progress to evolve in ways other than 'ooh look, another path for me to plunder with my gun'?
- itchle, on 10/12/2007, -77/+1Evidence: http://www.myspace.com/911falseflagop
ARREST THE U.S. GOVERNMENT!! 9/11 WAS A U.S. MILITARY ATTACK!!
DEMAND THE MEDIA COVER THIS.- beelz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10I believe you are in the wrong topic.
- emblym, on 10/12/2007, -14/+7You guys can end his crap.

- Taxodium, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0hmm whats worse itchie spamming? or emblym chasing itchie around respamming him to get rid of him
ok sorry that was off topic lol
gears is a cool ass game new content is always welcome in any game :) - akira117, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1LOL! Stupid hill billy with internet access....
- Seer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1wrong topic? and wrong planet! (apologied if this appears in the wrong place as i am using my phone to post!)
- xerus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15Needs more BLOOM!
- PoVRAZOR, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Bloom is the new cowbell.
- GliTCH82, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1And, while you're making a run for the pixel border, stop at a bell and get your fill of chicken enchilada grilled stuft goodness. A ton of all white-meat chicken hot off the grill melted in between heaping layers of our fresh ass baked beans and rice, topped with a whip of sour cream and all wrapped up, good to go. So good, it will make your ass go bloom.
Ya see fellas, while you're deciding whether or not to make a run for the border, someone's making a run for your mom. Don't be gay, think outside your bums.
It all comes together full circle (jerk).
- mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -9/+5This was already on Digg 10 minutes ago..
- neiltc13, on 10/12/2007, -21/+1Who cares if it's free - you still paid lots of money for the game which was stupidly short and suffered from terrible, terrible level design and boring characters and horrid texture work.
- Snakedal337, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I wonder what made the discover channel foot the bill on a game like GoW? Any Ideas?
- chris9902, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2they have some programs on about games soon so I'm guessing it's just advertisement.
They're also giving away 2,000,000 MS points: http://www.joystiq.com/2007/01/08/discovery-channel-giving-away-2mil-ms-points/ - Snakedal337, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ahh that may explain it.
That's okay, I don't mind these kinds of deals, in the end everyone wins. - cam503, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1They're giving away 2,000,000 MS points, but the site for it isn't quite up yet.
Eventually, check out http://www.readyaimfire.com for more information.

- dan0368, on 10/12/2007, -16/+1Yes, it's free, but I'm a little disappointed. I had expected more.
- chris9902, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15some people are never happy. It's free. quit your bitching.
- Alegis, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2"Old Bones: In an attempt to eradicate any traces of human history and culture, the Locust Horde has emerged under Sera’s Capitaline Museums and has begun to destroy them brick by brick. Each gamer’s mission is to help the Delta Force recapture the museums before all remnants of humankind’s existence are obliterated."
Save the museum? Lol- Inverno, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Did you rip on MoH2 when they did it? At least knock it for it's lack of originality.
- taxman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Save the museum!Save the world!

- navster15, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2This is hella awesome, but too bad that I am terrible at Gear of War deathmatch.
- Porsche944, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Nothing but blog spam. They don't even host the images over there they use image shack. Digg should have a bot that looks at submitted stories and if there are images linking to ImageShack delete the story and notify the submitter that ImageShack images are no approved.
I am tired of this stuff people trying to make a quick buck but, Digg users don't click on ads so your wasting your time and ours. - ChinezePanda, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1EA should take a hint from Epic and Discovery.
I love you Epic.. ever since my unreal days... all your new content has always been free.. I love you- Denver80203, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Epic you slut!
- oldtimegamer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2
New patch will be out before the new maps. Just FYI.
http://digg.com/gaming_news/Gears_of_War_Patch_to_Roll_Out_Before_Maps_on_1_9_2007 - IamTheProfessor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Thank God for the new maps!
*In this case "God" = Discovery Channel* - phoque, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Does anyone know if the maps will be released in Germany? Since GoW is banned (not allowed to be sold or advertised but still allowed to be owned by people), I doubt this stuff will ever see the "inside" of a German Xbox Live Marketplace :-(
- rheaume, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah its only been 60 years or something, give it another generation or two, theyll let you play violent games again.
