- gronne, on 10/12/2007, -4/+52I just heard my computer groan.
- scarolan, on 10/12/2007, -2/+37Ok, I thought this coastline looked familiar. Have a look at the Crysis screenshot first:

Now look at this photo of the Na Pali coastline on the island of Kauai (where I grew up):

- nullmind, on 10/12/2007, -4/+29I'm pretty sure my notebook just pissed on me.
- muleking, on 10/12/2007, -31/+54Wow, so were both world wars... congrats Europe.
- jaderobbins, on 10/12/2007, -2/+25please keep the political douchebaggery out of the comments.
- Hyperion, on 10/12/2007, -4/+24@JimV: Lol, they spelled it that way because of the developer/engine's name (Crytek).
- jwolf, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20Even better: Here's a great video showcasing the new engine:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1756651489216632888&q=crysis&pl=true - weekend, on 10/12/2007, -4/+20Not a Far Cry sequel. New game from the same company. New game engine.
- judgeFire, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15IMHO, Far Cry had superior gameplay for an FPS.
The maps were carefully crafted for non-linear play, making them a joy to replay in a variety of ways. "Maybe I'll just ram the speedboat into their car, taking out the driver...", then, "Ok, that kinda worked, but how about trying to sneak up the hill on this island here..."
And the enemy AI was pretty good, too. The game didn't feel scripted, or like a ride-on-rails as in Doom 3 or Half-Life 2, which patronize the gamer in a near-insulting way.
Having read the Crytek interview in the April issue of Edge, I have high hopes. It's a good read, grab the mag and see for yourself.
J - turgiddahlia, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14clueless: I might have agreed with you five years ago, but now you're just ***** retarded.
- dclowd9901, on 10/12/2007, -7/+17You're going to upgrade FOR Vista?
- jgerry, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Far Cry was a great game, and certainly one of the best-looking games ever. What I found most amazing about it, however, was that it was very playable with my 2 year old Radeon 8500. Sure the graphics options were turned down, but it still played very well. I hope Crysis will be the same in that respect.
I later bought an X800 Pro and played through the game again. Much better looking! - FoxHunter, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11Exactly, wish people would do more research before posting.
Taken from crytek's website:
"Crysis will be an original first person shooter game for PC based on new intellectual property."
Press Release Here: http://www.crytek.com/news/story.php?id=9&p=0&n=pr&t=1 - radixus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9This should be a very eye popping game . . . . seeing the teaser and then the screenshots. Let's up they don't screw this game up. Far Cry was a pretty solid game as well, so it should be something worth while.
It's about time some game news is hitting the scene. Seems it's been dry since the new year! - _skin_, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10WOW!!! The face shot of that guy is *****!
- YourTechSupport, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11 Mine just got brighter for a second as if saying "Whoohoo! Upgrade!"
- myxyplik, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Those landscape screens are sweet! Usually landscapes in games are craptacular, but these beat them all. Digg+++
- Farmer77, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8The face models look great. They don't have that "plastic" look to them.
- Matteos, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8yeah... 8 7900gtx 512's running on IBMs Blue gene supercomputer...
- PaxRomana, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10Those screenshots make me cry at my system specs.
- OBKenobi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7
Thank DirectX 10 for the graphics.
Those are DirectX 9 shots, sonny. - suicidal-kid, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7There is a little more here:
http://www.bit-tech.net/gaming/2006/04/20/crysis_new_screenshots/1.html - slackor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I wonder if it will have locational based damage... something next-gen FPS games have been lacking. I haven't been able to blow someone's limbs off since Soldier of Fortune.
- bakagaigin, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8That's why 'Sequel' is in quotes.
- mofomojo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6I really think that graphics don't really need to advance much further than this; we've pretty much reached a perfection in terms of graphics, other more important fields like eliminating bugs and writing better code seem to be taking a back seat to the CG.
It's really sad that Battlefield 2 had remained unplayable for many people who bought it; however, what was excellent was the technical marvalence. For some reason, whether it sheer stupidity or corruption, reviewers never pointed out the bugginess of software by Dice on that one.
Meh, people don't care about good software, they only care about better and unstable graphics engines to crash their games. Idiots. It's nice to have to wait to wait 20 seconds for a freaking menu to load, isn't it? - cryptocom, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7I hope I can still see ok enough to play this by the time it comes out. I have retinopathy...a degenerative eye condition. Already lost all vision in my right eye. HURRY UP CRYSIS!!!
: - zweben, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7As soon as Apple makes Intel PowerMacs fast enough to run it. I doubt something like that will play well on even a 2GHz Core Duo iMac.
- radixus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Yep the video is amazing - saw it a couple of weeks ago. But we'll see what happens to the quality when your fighting about 10 other people in the forest, with moving, dodging, jumping, shooting, explosions, etc....
Nvidia and ATI are just rubbing their hands . . . . excellant . . . . time to sell more $900 video cards, and now suddenly seperate physics cards. - scottauth, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Do a bit of research on the game.
I read an article in Computer Gaming or PC Gamer, I don't know one of the many gamer 'zines and it detailed some very interesting information about this game. I wish I remembered verbatim, but it looks like something that will add to the FPS genre. - Destinatus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5WE don't need another Doom, appearantly YOU do. All the reasons you gave were opinions.
- Diggs, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Anyone have a guess to what the recommended specs to run the game are/will be?
- SomeGuy6512, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"This is a PC game, right? Then what exactly makes it "next-gen?""
Um, how about being released sometime in the future and using a new graphics engine which is distinctly superior to those that currently exist? I'm pretty sure using word "generation" to refer to something other than computer hardware is not entirely unprecedented. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3im like horny after looking at those pics...
- Sukino, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3You never played Duke Nukem 3D I take it.
- uppedbyhiggins, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3You're pretentious?
These rants about "ITS GAMEPLAY NOT GRAPHICS" are growing old. I'm quite the nintendo fanboy, so I'm all about gameplay, but revolutionary graphics are pretty interesting to. I think there has to be a common ground--I really don't want to be playing side-scrollers my whole life, I want graphical improvements too. Seriously, try playing Goldeneye for N64...the gameplay is amazing, but the graphics are so horrendous that these years of great graphic pampering almost made it unbearable to play again. - Miyazaki, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4In my non expert opinion I'd say that's the same coast line.
- Arramol, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2*sigh* Time for yet another video card upgrade....anyone have a PCI-E compatible mobo and a GeForce 7900GT or two lying around?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Yes, DX10
- turgiddahlia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Those are all good points but this is pretty much an early beta (or maybe alpha) of the game, so hopefully a lot of it will be cleared up.
What I don't like is the blurriness of some of the objects in those scenes. I guess it's supposed to be motion blur but really all it is is annoying. - rawnnie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I think that was totally awesome, a lot of the shots, especially the ones in the forest they looked completely real. However, lets focus on some constructive criticisms:
Some of the textures really make the engine cry fowl play. You can notice some really lousy textures on the mountainous areas and on the clothes of the characters and the computer consoles. Those really really need to be better. Half life 2 had nice textures I'd say.
The water waves on the beachsides look way too fake. They are so damn solid. Doesn't suit the rest of the decent engine at all!
The level of detail doesn't seem to be as high as the engine deserves, and the faces looked really nice, however I think the level of detail on other parts like the hands are not as much as the level of detail we had in Doom 3.
End of my criticisms! - turgiddahlia, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Yeah, that was great. But then some whiny religious freak would probably get it banned. And then I'd have to rape his daughter in the ass.
- lament, on 10/12/2007, -0/+22x7900GTX in SLI.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Portuguese:http://www.htk.com.br/forum/viewtopic.php?p=607#607
- daemonx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I agree with u man,the mutants are too much.If it was just plain vanilla ***** Sapiens,it would have been better...But I still loved it..
- CaptainMal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You could have sliced them off in Jedi Knight II - another Raven Software title. Great game, btw.
- dbarbour, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Well... If that's not depressing...
- Retuobak, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3The first screenshots huh?
Well, thank god this is like the 6th batch :P
And we've already seen 2 trailers which ran on currently available hardware smoothly, and looked freakin' awesome. - timmage89, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@guitarromantic:
I didn't mind the storyline at all. And if you compare any game's plot and dialog with hl2's................................ actually... just don't. - donpdonp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2more photorealism is nice, but what gets me is that this game, like all other significant games today, are based on collision detection with polygons. where are the advanced physics simulations? WoW and all other games like it, look rediciulous when two characters are fighting but what they're really doing is playing out a preprogramed sequence and they happen to be located next to each other. give me the physics accelerator cards and a game world based on something small, like pebbles, where everything in the world is built of pebbles. by giving properties to the pebbles of stickness and weight, then a compelling game world will emerge.
