- TekeeTakShak, on 10/12/2007, -10/+256Actually, more and more people are realizing that they shouldn't have bought their PS3 for 1500 off eBay.
- Shaggy3, on 10/12/2007, -23/+180Why he getting dugg down? He is right.
All we heard from Sony was arrogant comments like;
'The PS3 is actually cheap for what your getting.'
'The PS3 has strong enough of a fan base to be successful no matter what the price is.'
I don't know what Sony's strategy was for the PS3, but it failed horribly, and now their paying the price. - kylesellers, on 10/12/2007, -15/+169I just was notified that my preorder came in a couple days ago, so I went quickly to Game Stop and... got my $50 deposit back!
- crgnetworks, on 10/12/2007, -31/+160NEWS FLASH: Nobody wanted one in the first place.
- usernameistaken, on 10/12/2007, -4/+93What I find funny are the people who hoarded 5+ PS3's to hawk them on ebay only to find out there's no money to be made. They set reserve prices too high the first time around because they got greedy, now they wish they would kill to sell it for just $800. What i find funnier are the people who bought several PS3's from earlier auctions because they thought there would be a mad increase in demand right before Christmas. There was one seller who had bought ten systems. Serves the bastard right.
- sirloin, on 10/12/2007, -14/+80digg used to love the p3, before production delays, limited release, over price, developers complaing about how hard it is to develop for. Cell not livng up to the hype etc etc
Sorry reallity is anti sony biased.. it really has little to do with digg.
What do you think we all came from a nitendo forum to digg?
or that digg actively closes the accounts of people that say nice things about sony?
If a bunch of people say somethign is junk, it doesnt mean they are against it, it could actually mean it is junk. - chocobomog, on 10/12/2007, -6/+57I'll believe it when I walk in a store and finally find one for sale. I've gone to different electronic stores almost everyday (for work errands) and always make run to the game section for Wii's or PS3s. If so many people are returning them then I should at least find one somewhere. Otherwise, we can assume that people are purchasing the ones returned or that none are returned at all.
- stealthboy, on 10/12/2007, -9/+52<nelson>ha ha!</nelson>
- aegis9975, on 10/12/2007, -28/+71The same story hit the front page 2 hours ago, and is still in the front page of the gaming section, do we really need to be spamed again by this redundant fanboy propaganda (same story via a web forum posting). In fact, it seems many of the people who dugg this story already dugg the dupe, honestly, we get it; Digg hates Sony. Lets put it in bold letters on the front page so other non-fanboy stories can get some coverage.
http://digg.com/gaming_news/PS3_Supply_Exceeding_Demand_Already - EtherGnat, on 10/12/2007, -3/+40The number of people who talk about waiting until the price drops is mind-boggling. My only question is if everybody waits then will anybody actually bother to make the games? We've already seen a number of lost exclusives. If there's not a huge market we're going to see even fewer games and exclusives. If the games don't come then I doubt anybody will want the PS3 even after a price drop.
- tastypastry, on 10/12/2007, -6/+41You and me both. No way in hell I'm buying one at $600.
- MindStalker, on 10/12/2007, -7/+41HAHA looking at ebay now, just saw a 60GB model (retail $599 or $640 after tax in most states) PLUS 3 games go for $600+$25ship.
- sinner0423, on 10/12/2007, -32/+66lets just announce that anyone that buys a PS3 is either :
A) a child molestor
B) a homosexual
C) a republican
and we'll all be happy. that way, we wont have to see 900 negative stories about the PS3 every day, nobody will buy one, and we'll never hear of it ever again.
deal? deal. - FearlessFreep, on 10/12/2007, -22/+52Tempted to digg you down because you dared to use the term 'future-proof' in a serious context

PS3 - Muyoso, on 10/12/2007, -11/+33Sorry, but what are these great aspects? The POTENTIAL it has? The POTENTIAL games? The POTENTIAL of the bluray drive?
There is no reason to buy a PS3 now unless you really feel like playing Resistance and are willing to spend 700 to play a single game. - Four20, on 10/12/2007, -1/+23http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=21856
directly link to bypass the spam - Spire3660, on 10/12/2007, -3/+24This just in, Digg's supply of stories on PS3 supply outstripping demand are outstripping demand. Even though I realize my statement contradicts itself, it still holds true, at least in my case
- Zoids, on 10/12/2007, -7/+28The day after the 360 launched my local Gamestation had 4 or 5 used ones. I picked one of the used ones up and it's served me well since.
In short, people will return anything. - sinner0423, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1499.9% of my comments on here are complete & total jokes, or in some extremely rare cases, trollish attempts at humor.
don't take my little political jab seriously. the general concensus on the internet is that the PS3 is a joke, and if you buy one, you've fallen in to the Sony trap. i apologize for lumping the republicans in to the 'evil' group, it was in jest.
the people who get it are laughing, the ones who don't are fuming mad. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14@Brokekneck
If you have 9 fully functional processor cores in your PS3 than you are truly a blessed man(or woman), and the only person with a PS3 and NINE operational cores. - DeadPenguin, on 10/12/2007, -8/+20@Bonobo
If you haven't tried it go to ps3seeker.com. It helped me get mine. Theres no rush to get a PS3 unless you want the Blu-Ray or really really want to run yellow dog linux 5 on it. Resistance was OK. No other decent titles yet.
Be careful defending PS3's here quick way to get dugg down. Stop being the voice of reason.Wiis rock - Xbox360's are OK now and Sony is the antichrist. - rickywebster, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13links to go with that statement:

Many similar cases can be found. I work for a major retailer, and we've taken back about four PS3s. Usually they sat on the shelf for about an hour or two before being sold. - Morsetlis, on 10/12/2007, -3/+15Homosexuals are indignant that they are being lumped in the same category with child molestors and Republicans.
- weezerrock86, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13This is the exact same story that was just on the front page only quoted through a forum.
- johfirth, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14i find all this to be true we had four returned today alone, 3 of them used, and 1 guy said i just couldn't sell it so i brought it back. the others were just not impressed with what they paid so much money for. not only that at most stores once something is returned we cant re sell it unless it is unopened, if anything is opened it must be sent to manufacturer and processed, even if nothing is wrong, they have to be sent back, its protocol for all gaming systems, i would know i work at a major electronics retailer.
- Maxpower57, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Correction,
Nobody wants one for $600 - modestmouse, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Well, I DO want one, only I don't want to pay $600 for one. I suspect most other people don't either. If there are PS3s out there, I would imagine the price is more the reason than any of the other complaints about the system.
- audiocollective, on 10/12/2007, -18/+27I have seen 6 of these things siting on shelves or the stores in my town! the only think i can't find is a freakin Wii!!
- haydesigner, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12"They have 7 left"
And 20 minutes later, they are sold out. Hmm. - G-RaZoR, on 10/12/2007, -10/+18You say those 4 games is what you are looking forward to. Well lets put it this way, if you bought the system to play them 4 games (highly doubtful, but still feasible) then you would be paying $210 per game ($60 for game, and $600/4 = 150). Now I ask you this, are those games really worth the $210? You play the game, you beat the game, then you are done. What a waste of money in my opinion.
- Muyoso, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Seriously have you met my friends or family?
- wheaty, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10as a homosexual child molester, I am outraged that you would group my people in with republicans...
- daweyo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8This is funny, because this is exactly what my buddy did.. he actually called me several weeks ago all excited that Best Buy had 4 PS3's in and told me to rush down and pick some up. I told him I would pass, and he should think again. After eBay/PayPal/Tax/time spent I did not see any type of real profit, and would feel ashamed of myself for trying to take advantage. Anyway, he took the system back today after yesterday it not selling for his asking price of $800 I believe. I have sold hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of stuff on eBay and I just knew that most people buying these consoles were doing it to make profit. Most sensible parents with limited income would buy a Wii... remember those party's playing Mario Cart with 4 people? You don't have to have the best graphics in the world to have fun. I am proud of Nintendo.
- MaXiMuM32, on 10/12/2007, -6/+12Too many PS3s my ass. If they were so many unwanted PS3s why cant NotifyWire (The source of this news) find any available units?
Check for yourselves: http://notifywire.com/ProductInfo.aspx?PID=3 - Bartboy919, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7although rudy hit the nail on the head for some of them, there are storys that praise micrsoft on ocasion via the 360.
- wunch, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10". . . has lead to a glut of stock online . . ."
glut: (noun) an excessive quantity: oversupply.
If there's such an oversupply of PS3s online, why can't I find it in stock at any (non-ebay) reputable online store? They are also sold out at every major retail store in my area. Until I can buy a PS3 at a retailer without having to spend weeks hunting one down, this story is inaccurate. - dissident, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Sony delayed the system so long because of pushing blu-ray. Had they just used DVDs, they could have released not much later then the xbox 360 and blown the xbox away in sales... as it stands both systems are pretty equal from a graphics standpoint and there's simply no reason to buy a playstation 3 unless you want a bluray player. That might change if companies release games exclusively on the playstation 3 but for now that's not an issue.... games like final fantasy xiii won't be out for quite some time, a year or more.
- iceperson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6"I'll believe it when I walk in a store and finally find one for sale."
The night before last I was running to all the Wal-Marts looking for another nunchuck for my Wii and all three stores had at least 2 PS3s on the shelf. - Snakedal337, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I'll be honest, i'd buy one tomorrow if the price just suddenly dropped to $300 and $400 for the core and upgraded systems respectivly. Lower is better of course, but i'm willing to pay that.
In conclusion, THIS IS GREAT NEWS! Flood those PS3s back so that retailers are over stocked! woo! - kirashira, on 10/12/2007, -7/+13I dont know who reported this but the ps3 is still selling out within minutes just the Wii, at least where I live....
- gboodhoo, on 10/12/2007, -12/+17Republicans are the angriest people I know
- Mitchl, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7I had a lead on some PS3s to come available Tuesday, so I was checking current eBay value Monday night. I saw about 3 go for less than retail, the lowest being a 60gb for $480 + 50 shipping. Where they were selling for more than retail it was only 10% or so over retail.
I don't want one (I am loving my PS2 these days, but I would like a 360) -- but I did consider seeing if I could get a 60gb for $500 or so, which would be a good price for a Blu-Ray player.
I passed on getting one, but a buddy did buy a 60gb (he has a 60gb already and is enjoying it as a Blu-Ray player)-- he bought it up just so anyone else could pick it up for their kids, and he can't find anyone to buy it. He doesn't even want to make a profit, just the $600 + tax. - sirloin, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9if teh ps3 was amazing and cheap and had a lot of games, digg would be fans of it.. it has zip to do with sony.. i bet many people here who hate the ps3 loved their ps2
Just like bashing bush has nothing to do with being anti republican. Bushes numbers are in the 30's means republicans dont like him either.
As for child molesters, well they suck. - bash, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Agreed, bury this *****. Hard.
As much as this is music to my ears, I don't wanna see the same story again. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+11No you don't.
- Bartboy919, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6As one who has only owned a PS1 at the end of its lifespan and never owned a PS2. I would actualy like the PS3 to run some old PS2 games and have build in blu ray player and the option to run linux on it. Also, don't kid yourself, some PS3 titles coming out do look killer (Lair).
- poxonyou, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7The title of this article (forum post?) is BS. Plenty of people want them, they just don't want to get them off eBay or pay an extra $100-200 to meet some random person from an ad in the paper or craig's list. Go to any electronics store and ask if they have any. What is true is that those who bought them to resell who couldn't are going to have to return them. The many people who still actually want one will be ready to pick one up.
If anyone is interested in what a reseller has gone though, here's what happened to me. I got one a week after launch by pure luck and then got greedy/stupid (hoped to profit enough to buy my own PS3), hunted for more for another week, and ended up with 3 (one I hoped to keep). I first tried selling on eBay, but got an unconfirmed address bidder who ruined my auction with less than a minute left. I had to wait a week before I could do anything about it. In the meantime, I posted them on craig's list everyday and took out an ad in the local paper. I listed them well below other prices, which often angered other sellers on CL who flagged my posts off. I did that for 2 weeks and only got a few calls. Most went something like, "Still have that PS3?" "Yes." "Still selling it for X?" "Yes" "Okay, let me check with my wife/check something and I'll call you right back." Never calls back, doesn't return calls. One kept trying to meet up, finally arranged something, he claims he is at the meeting spot, I get there, then he text messages me (does not answer his phone anymore) saying he felt weird about the situation. His wife answered his home phone saying he was there, so I think he did just chicken out. At that point, I gave up, but my father had a friend who wanted to buy my 60GB for $50 over what I paid. I just returned the other 2. So, in the end, I actually lost a bit of money (~$40). Good lesson, and I'll never do this crap again. -
