statesman.com — Mockingbird co-founders Andy Price and Troy Gilbert, both of whom worked at Electronic Arts before starting Mockingbird, wanted to develop a Web-based game engine that anybody could use to create games. They wanted to target people who aren't familiar with Adobe Flash and have never created a video game.
