- CCricers, on 04/07/2008, -0/+0I think "game design" is a broad and ambiguous subject, and it's hard to pin it down as a college degree. Because in practice, game designers come from many different career backgrounds. It would be the same thing as suggesting an engineering degree with no real focus on any particular industry.
However, you have made some good points in what some colleges are doing with their degree programs. The biggest problem is calling them "game design". A game-related program in art would be about 3D modeling and texturing, and one in computer science would be maybe programming for games. Both of these are merely applications of game design but not more than that.
