- Academicballa, on 10/12/2007, -23/+165This ***** deserves to be burned in public and extinguish before he gets to the point of death. Fix him up and repeat the cycle every month.
- robustyoungsoul, on 10/12/2007, -3/+98Very, very sad. When a video game getting knocked over is enough to set something like this off, there are clearly some serious issues with this guy.
I hope the mother gets the helps she will need. - dancpsu, on 10/12/2007, -5/+93Quick! Find out what the video game/console was so every media outlet can announce that it causes violence every day for the next 2 weeks and congress can introduce very public bills to have it banned from the US so they look like they are doing something to protect us.
And of course, Jack Thompson will try to exploit this to make another million off the video game industry. - fredgsanford, on 10/12/2007, -4/+83A ***** AWESOME one, apparently.
- cypher35, on 10/12/2007, -17/+69I hope this dude burns in hell.
- GraceMolloy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+50Oh God, Jack Thompson is gonna have a field day with this *****.
- vertinox, on 10/12/2007, -1/+33Yeah, I'd have to agree.
The guy was ***** up to begin with. It could have been stepping in front of his monday night football or daddy just being too drunk coming home from a bar. Or sassing back... The guy was clearly not a decent human being. It had nothing to do with the fact he was playing a video game. It just happened to be the thing that broke the proverbial camel's back.
Although, people have killed their kids over less... And for no particular reason. - unamas, on 10/12/2007, -6/+30Man... I wonder what game he was playing?
- bloodylip, on 10/12/2007, -4/+24With the daily onslaught of news about murders in Philadelphia, sadly, I'm not surprised. It truly is a shame that some people react like that.
- AliceKK, on 10/12/2007, -3/+19Just because he's black doesn't mean he is on welfare...
- cquinnd, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18He's being dugg down for making about as much sense as a Jack Thompson connection to this story.
- bitcloud, on 10/12/2007, -6/+20This ***** deserves to be given a trial and then sentenced to the harshest possible sentence once he officially pleads guilty in a court of law.
He's a murderer. You, I, and hopefully the US courts are not. - marmaduke, on 10/12/2007, -5/+19Wow, incredible ignorance at its ***** best. Just shut your mouths.
- Klisk, on 10/12/2007, -4/+17I bet you ANYTHING he was playing Madden. I don't mean to be racist. But honestly. It was definitely Madden.
- Abatrour, on 10/12/2007, -18/+30@dancpsu
Well we know it wasn't an xbox because xbox controllers have that quick release feature.
It was most likely a ps2. - Pic0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11I would be pissed too if I had to play that game.
"Madden 2006, ***** they haven't done anything but moved the stat bars around a little." - Smwbigboss, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12But that doesn't stop him from trying.
- carbonetc, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Totally the game's fault. No contest.
- asskey, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11This doesn't have any bearing on the argument that children are affected by playing violent video games.
Imagine Jack Thompson trying to argue to a parent that if they play a video game, they will kill their daughter...
It would make about as much sense as everything else that comes out his ass. - SlappyMc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7"The couple's second baby will be born with her dad charged with killing the sister she never met."
Thats some of the saddest stuff I've heard :( - EochaidRiata, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8He was 10 seconds away from beating Battletoads.
- contradictator, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Between this, and the unavoidable "he was a goth who loved shooters" fallout that will come out of the tragic shooting at Dawson in Montreal yesterday, it seems Jack Thompson and his "peers" are gonna get more ammo in their annoying crusade against video games.
- DiamondIce, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Abatrour, because the way you said you comment made you sound like a Microsoft fanboy. Besides that, there are more consoles out there than just Xbox and Playstation.
- Filter, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7My kids interrupt and ruin games for me all the time. I consider myself to be fairly major gamer (not pro quality by any means) but when they interrupt or ruin my game the most I do is sit them on my lap so they can watch me try again at whatever it was that they ruined. Sitting in my lap to watch is usually what they want anyway. I would never hurt my kids over ruining my game or game system. I would quit playing games altogether if I even thought of hurting my children over them.
- fredkreuger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4If only such a thing were possible.
- QueenOfSwords, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4"Eight-months pregnant with another baby girl, Turman was struggling with how to cope. She said she fell in love with a man who had never been violent before, and she wanted to know what would possess someone to kill a child."
I call *****. Thats not the first time he's been violent. - cronot, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7If I was in front of you right now, the chance of me disfiguring your face with multiple punches, would be 99/99.
*****. - Blah_Blah_Blah, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5@abatrour
the article said the console fell, and that the child pulled on some cords. It doesnt specify if they were controller cords. - Funkly, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4this guy gives humans a bad name...
- vertinox, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Hah. I didn't even bother to read the article. People should know Philly and Camden are warzones. What are we... 300 some murders in philly alone so far?
***** crackheads breaking in my car... Drug dealers on my street...
Damn meth'ed out hookers asking for cigarrettes...
And at least I don't live in north Philly... That place is a ***** hole compared to South Philly (well just don't go over to Gray's ferry at 3am) - OdinEye, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@AliceKK --> "It's obvious he had other mental issues bothering him at the time and though i do not condone violence or any killing, i can say that no human in normal conditions would do such a thing."
You are at best naive, at worst ignorant. What are "normal" conditions?
Many, many human beings do awful, deplorable things. This man is one of them. - Jaryd2006, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3This so does not help the case of Videogames do not cause violence...But still killing a child just cause your game reset? Come on, I had my entire PS2 memory card formatted because of that evil demo disc sony sent out and I didnt take my anger out on anything physical. I just turned on my Gamecube and pwned the boss of Metroid prime 2. That guy needs mental help.
- DeepFreezed, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6this is why casuals should not play games.
- GoBOOM, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5It's a shame, that's the only thing to say. This man had severe issues to beat a child over a video game. And it's no wonder the public has a skewed view of gamers, all they ever see is the bad.
Not that most gamers leave the basement to do a lot of good. Sorry, that was a dumb joke, but it had to be made. - Strongoloid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Sad story, although the title somewhat implies that the actual game had something to do with his stupid action. I'm gonna guess he had mental problems already, and that if it wasn't that, then something else would have set him off.
Either way, we should all be able to punch him. - EochaidRiata, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8http://www.philly.com/mld/dailynews/15505658.htm
He already had two other bastard children with two other women, and was sitting at home playing video games on a Thursday... - Overdose, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Probably. Usually Rapist, pedohiles, and guys like him get ***** up in jail.
- aacidusX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3this is why I left the projects...
- CyberSteve, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5hey middleGirth, what the hell is wrong with you man? that's a little kid who was beaten to death over a damn game...your a disgrace dude...eff you
- Zreitan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is NOT because he played video games, doing anything intense, even video games causes an over reaction to things, like in this case. i know anyone who's ever played a video game and really got into it, if you're messed with or something, you might flip. But this man was a FATHER...and no amount of annoyance should have caused him to hit his child and leave her to DIE while he played.. i say public humiliation and then lock him up for ever
- lludacrisboy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3MiddleGirth the one who posted second on this forum. i have 5 words for you.
youre a fu*king douche bag
you should burn in hell - guitarmaniac, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Why does it matter what console, game, and controller he was using/playing? Some guy kills his daughter and that's what you have to say.....
anyways, there are some messed up people in this world - llamapalooza87, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2For some reason, I saw this title and thought:
"Look, I, too, really want a state-side release for the prequel to EarthBound, but killing a little girl isn't going to solve anything." As in, "Father killed child over MOTHER (video game)." Strange, huh?
But, seriously, that's disgusting, This guy needs help. And prison. People like him create a bad reputation for gamers and video games in general. The media's going to go crazy over this. - silkysaul, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Seriously man... You're giving Brooklyn residence a bad name..
Have some respect! - QueenOfSwords, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Damn straight. She's been making excuses for a long time so she gets to keep her babydaddy.
- williamhelmick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"...a note on the door of the North Philadelphia row-home Monday night said not to judge Spellman because he would never hurt a child."
Come again? I'm afraid that this doesn't work out in my head. My brain is about to explode... - TheFoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2He was charged with "possessing an instrument of crime." I wonder what that might mean?
- DelMonte, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Because he interrupted your own gaming session by being responsible for this Digg article?
Same kind of reasoning... - catoutfit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Dance Dance Revoloution
- vaduzl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If killing is bad , why should government kill? Lock him up forever , let parole boards deny him for 60 years. Show a picture of the life he ended.
Killing is the worse thing. Why do people say kill someone who kills? the killing was the crime . You give up right to live in our non killer society , but killing people is the problem. -
