- basebaII, on 10/12/2007, -3/+24I'm guessing "Barbie Horse Adventures: Wild Horse Rescue" is better?
- jumba911, on 10/12/2007, -6/+23@Alphateam
You better take that back before i virtually slap you - detrate, on 10/12/2007, -5/+17obviously an mmorpg player
- kcpwnsgman, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10I don't like halo, but saying that FPS's in general suck, is kindof like saying all pizza sucks, it's so vauge...
- samadam, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10I actually don't own an xbox 360 yet. The sad thing is that this beta will force me to get one. Way to market, microsoft.
- colklink, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7@RandoTheKing
Are you retarded or does your keyboard not work properly? - revidium, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I like Halo and Half-Life. Are you sure you're not just bitter because it's harder to be good at an FPS with an analog stick than it is with a mouse?
- Bara, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7That's fine, now we can keep the n00bs out of our games.
- hokeywebb22, on 10/12/2007, -8/+11Not surprising for the followup to the game with the largest first day sales in history.
- amjustice, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5You are a liar, they havent told anyone if they got into the Beta yet! And...You have to have a 360 and a Gamertag to join, plus they will likely be cracking down like crazy on people trying to sell their beta memberships, you are an idiot!
- taxman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Not surprising .
U have to applaud the marketing done by bungie/Microsoft. It makes u feel like u r part of the procedure and part of the family...Halo 3 will sell xbox 360s,6 months before its release. Thats something no game will ever match. - BlackKnight6, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Need the hard drive so you can install the beta, like demos.
Gold because that is what gold gives, special access to tournaments and events.
You need it linked (I just use my hotmail address like always) so when you register online it knows what Xbox Live gamer is participating in the beta; as well as so you can email and give responses. I assume you will use the computer to send the info to Bungie about what bugs there are, not the 360 voice or text methods.
I don't think they are try to get consoles sold with the beta, at least not for your case. This is a chance to give fans a chance to enhance and speed dev time. - UMDWei, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6Live in a cave guy... "electricity sucks! man made fire for life!"
- woodenturkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2 139,500 noob quiters, 500 real players
- amjustice, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5You Sir obviously have no taste whatsoever!
- TheBigBoss, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Why would you even try to lie about something like this?
I feel sorry for you. - Takteek, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I want a PC version! Argh!
Using a mouse to aim is sooo much better than a dumb controller... - bradboob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Any idea of when they're going to start contacting people so we know if we've actually been chosen?
- joemc72, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Doubtful. The signup was linked to your Live Passport, which is in turn linked to your Gamertag. Somehow I doubt you can separate all those levels enough to sell a single beta invite.
- BadSenorRon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If FPS and MMPORG are only for a PC, then what the hell is a gaming console for? Pong?
I personally don't like the mouse/keyboard combo of a PC FPS. I view the FPS as an extension of reality. I can't immediately snap around with pin-point precision on everything, it takes me a little time to turn. To me, a console emulates this better. Granted, it's because of the control setup, but that doesn't bother me.
Halo and Halo2 might be the most successful console games when it came to allowing multiple players across a local network or the internet. I bought an Xbox just so I could play in the other room and not have my screen watching cousin killing me constantly. - TimDigg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1eh...I disagree it depends on what the game was made for orginally
Halo on PC was no where NEAR as good as Halo on Xbox, the controls on the PC were simply horrid
Halo requires you to press too many buttons simultaneously.....
COD and almost all WW2 FPS games .....give me a mouse and keyboard any day of the week........requires too much precise aim...and quick movements
Half Life 2 on the other hand.....was designed to play well on both Xbox and PC(I liked the horrid driving missions moreso on xbox though) - amjustice, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4You better hurry up, you have to have a console and a gold level gamertag to sign up and they may close it soon.
- Smills, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Halo and Halo 2 are both awesome games, and i'm sure Halo 3 will be as well. Half-Life 2 (PC or Xbox) is also an awesome game. Believe it or not, it is possible to play an FPS on both the PC and Xbox.
- heartless_, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Whats the last innovation in FPS gameplay? There hasn't been any. Doesn't make the whole genre suck, but it sure doesn't inspire me to buy any of them.
- joaob, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2@0olong
well some people have lives outside of the computer. myself..i like to have a couple of real life friends over to play. what are "real life friends" you ask? They are people that exist physically outside of your buddy list. take a breather...get up off your fat ass...and give the box a break. you can then e-mail me personally and thank me. - TimDigg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Which reminds me....on the remake of HL2.for 360
TAKE OUT THE DRIVING MISSIONS!!!!! - BadSenorRon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@BlackKnight6
I don't think the error reporting will be done directly by the user, unless they ask for input specifically on "What do you think of the grenade." It seems that the reason this beta is out there is so they can collect better data on the network/multiplayer performance across Live, and maybe to see if one weapon is all powerful. That way, we won't have to sit through a V1.1 update due to network performance issues or weapons balance problems. It will probably come with some automated background reporting that logs some number of variables. - kcpwnsgman, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3I would have to say that it brought console gamers something that PC gamers had for years, and while I do say it is overrated, it would be because the single player is somewhat generic, (at least just concidering the video games, and excluding books and graphic novels) which later inspired a much deeper, and richer experence with Halo 2, and the rest of the universe being tied into what it is today.
- trunkster, on 10/12/2007, -7/+6FPS are man games. Argh!
- sinembarg0, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3Supply is not infinite, there are actually fairly strict requirements.
You must be over 17 years old and live in the U.S.
You must have an Xbox 360 with a hard drive.
You must have Xbox Live Gold and have your gamertag linked to a .net account.
There are a few more, but they are less strict. - ForlornHope, on 10/12/2007, -6/+5I'm going to laugh so hard if there's more Halo 3 beta sign-ups than PS3s sold. Granted, supply is basically infinite for the sign-up, but it still highlights what a huge head-start Microsoft has.
- fastsix, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3Always wondered how it outsold Halo 2.
"....elevating the game to the fastest-selling title of 2006 and fastest-selling original Xbox game of all time."
http://gamerscoreblog.com/team/archive/2006/11/21/539037.aspx
GoW sold 1 million copies in 2 weeks, Halo 2 sold 2.4 million copies in 1 day
http://money.cnn.com/2004/11/11/technology/halosales/
So what's going on?
Halo 2 was released in 2004, so the first part is easy to get around, the second part is a bit tricky. It doesn't seem to work until you remember that Halo 2 was not an original Xbox game....it was a sequel. - drjekelmrhyde, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Why do you need all this to get it
- An Xbox 360 Pro console (includes hard-drive) or an Xbox 360 Core console with hard drive
- A valid Xbox Live Gold subscription
- A valid Microsoft. NET Passport account with a Xbox Live gamertag linked
wouldnt they want people like me from buying a Wii instead of a 360 cause I'm unsure which one I want right now - heartless_, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1World of Warcraft had 500,000+ in beta :) Owned.
- foolfromhell, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1Wasnt there a sign up sheet on Digg a week or so ago?
now halo3.com - kcpwnsgman, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1140,000 is actually much less than the 400,000 or so consoles that Sony claims to have sold.
- lastberserker, on 10/12/2007, -11/+3Now let's see if we get 140,000 diggs on this piece 8)
- StealthMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -9/+0I signed up even thought I don't have a 360. If I somehow get in on the beta, I'll have to come up with something at the point I guess... or sell it on EBay, even better!
- RandoTheKing, on 10/12/2007, -15/+6The Halo serious is highly overrated, just like the move series The Matrix. There are much better FPS.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -12/+1didn't gears of war beat it?
- 0olong, on 10/12/2007, -11/+0Playing Halo is like filling a box with rocks, and those who like Halo are as dumb as said box.
FPS are for PCs.. nuff sed - kingfoot, on 10/12/2007, -14/+2"your pony died because it wasn't pretty enough"

FPS are the lamest game genre ever.
