- wakachamo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+23You don't need to pay for a Wii keyboard. In case you haven't noticed, it has two USB entries in the back for any old normal USB keyboard.
- midmarky, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13A blue tooth keyboard for the wii would be the coup-de-gras of current tv web surfing. The Wiimote acts fairly well as a mouse.
- ppnsteve, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13lets hope drivers and a keyboard are offered.. for some this will speed web-surfing
- SpacedOut83, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11The biggest thing I hope they fix are those damned huge overscan save zones. On my HDTV they show up on not only the top, but also the left and right. It's so annoying!
- matthewf01, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Not a terribly informative interview beside letting us know when dev will be complete.
- ninephoenixes, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11So like, didn't we already know...all of this?
- howie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Opera can't offer keyboard support. That's all up to Nintendo.
- doctabu, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7I hate to sound like a troll here, but there is abolutely no point to this article. It's nothing more than basic speculation. A summary:
*Opera is not planning on making a keyboard. There are no references to anything from Nintendo saying anything as well.
*Opera is not disclosing any extra information besides the report that they will be releasing updates for the browser after it's released.
That's all the article offers. - jrathert, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7I'm actually really happy to hear that they plan on continuing to update it so that it can evolve as the Wii gets older... thought that was a pretty big piece of info.
- PhantomC, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Yes!!! death to the safe zones! what the heck are they for anyway? no other programs have them!
they should make a button combo to hide that giant toolbar at the bottom too. The screen resolution is small enough without them taking up half of it! - juan23, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Yeah. That was a whole lot of nothing...
- jrathert, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4@ninephoenixes
1) It's different from March, that's all I'm saying. Sure that part isn't big news, but it's a sign that they could push it back further than originally expected and stated.
2) Web browsers on consoles can be very different from ones on computers.
3) I didn't write it! - howie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3There was something of huge value there: The browser will continue to be updated.
- CountC, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I think I learned something today. Opera can't release information!
- jrathert, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Umm, it could be released in April instead of March as originally stated, and there will be updates after the "final" version is released. I'd call that new news on the subject.
- SpacedOut83, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@Zippo: I understand that, but it's like they opted for a super-duper ultra safe overscan zone. If they're that worried about loosing essential web page information in the overscan zone, they should implement an option to tell the browser where the edges of your screen are, similar to how NVIDIA's drivers handle it. Fortunately it's still beta, so it'll probably be fixed in the final version.
- ogryn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2No, that is incorrect, Flash 7 is the latest version Adobe will offer to embed in devices.
http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer_sdk/ - wakachamo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@nocircleno: We all know Flash 9 is the most recent version, but only Flash 7 can be embedded by companies until now.
- freetyme, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Nothing really new,
now what would be great is if there was confirmation of external harddrive support and wireless keyboard support (I'm fine with using the wii remote as a mouse) - nocircleno, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I'm hoping they port Flash 9 to this browser as Flash 9 is the latest official version of Flash not 7 like in the article.
- Orlex, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I just lost the game
- Zippo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Overscan is a fact of TV... it's not going away.
- ninephoenixes, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Sure, that's possible, but that possibility has always existed, and it wouldn't take an idiot to figure that out, given the difficulties Nintendo had when it originally launched the trial browser. So like, if they were originally planning to launch on March 30, but had to delay it until April 1 for some reason, that would be news? That's not news without more concrete information. I think you're grasping too hard for "exclusives."
Also, yes, web browsers on consoles can be very different from browsers on computers. That, however, has nothing to do with the fact that the browser would need to be updated every once in a while to retain functionality.
And I meant "you" as in the collective entity of your outlet.
But yeah, I'm probably being an assbag, but it flips a switch in me when people pretend to be journalists but don't really know what they're doing. - phonetik, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Why does crap like this make the front page?
Honestly, what new details did I just learn from that. - Hoov, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2There was absolutely nothing of any value in that article.
- goodbeershow, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Might has well have interviewed a rock.
- ninephoenixes, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1@jrathert
1. It wasn't originally stated as "March." It was originally stated as "end of March." Given all the variables that go into such a project, as well as the history of similar things, saying that the release might be a little bit behind schedule due to unforseen circumstances isn't "news" as much as it's just drawing attention to a possibility that's always existed.
2. It's a web browser. No ***** there will be updates.
3. You need to use fewer exclamation marks in your articles. - jedioniram, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0You know.. you really should have put either "Nintendo" or "Wii" in the title...
- ninephoenixes, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0Edit: eeep, digg down. Pushed the wrong button.
- tiberone, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0for the hundredth time, just because he's young and black...oh wait...
- EXCellR8, on 10/12/2007, -9/+1I thought computers were for web surfing... and video game consoles were for gaming. The future is a strange place...
- kingpowrie, on 10/12/2007, -21/+1nothing new, they will update it so what? Just because they didn't deny the possibility of a keyboard doesn't make it so and anyway who would pay for a wii keyboard, when you're only going to use it to stream media. You'd have to be insane to use it as your general purpose web utility.

What is Digg?
