- VargVikernes, on 10/28/2009, -10/+383That's only in the french version of the game. In the english version the airport is switched for a school so players feel more at home while playing :)

- Mstayt, on 10/28/2009, -2/+247I like the little bit of social psychology implanted into this sequence. Players end up shooting innocent victims just because their peers are.
- r1y23, on 10/28/2009, -8/+215WOAH...this is gonna be so sick when you play on a dedicated server with 40 people being the civilians running away and 10 guys being the terrorists! Damn I cant till someone creates a modded game mode like that and runs it on a dedicated server. I am totally gonna buy this game so I can do that.

I'll let my bro play that part
If i wanted to play a scenario like that, i would play those stupid flash games(shoot up the school, etc) on the internet.
Just my opinion, don't bury me for it. - aralls, on 10/28/2009, -1/+87"doing terrorisms." i love it
- vicsvenge, on 10/28/2009, -13/+93wow... talk about raunchy. I think it's vile, I think it's disgusting, it's absolutely horrifying, I think it's inappropriate and I think it's absolutely beautiful. When I was watching that I could seriously see something like that taking place and clearly that's the point of the mission. Without knowing the story behind it it'll be impossible to know the reason behind it, but either way it looks great and it's nice to see a video game maker push the boundaries of story telling in a video game.
And for the one who said this isn't call of duty. Who cares? Call of Duty has evolved past an above average first person shooter, to a fully interactive cinematic experience. I applaud the developers for pushing the envelope. - dekuscrub, on 10/28/2009, -11/+90Why is this controversial?
If a movie were to do this, it would be considered art.
But because it's a videogame it's not taken seriously. - thejwac, on 10/28/2009, -0/+79This doesn't bother me when I do it GTA IV or when we used to do it in old school Rampage. It seems odd in this context but I'll wait until I get to play the full game before making a final opinion.
You aren't really killing civilians you know. - r1y23, on 10/28/2009, -1/+78I didnt think it was funny, I thought it was some of the most intense and emotionally heavy-handed gameplay I have seen in my life.
- ConfusedCartman, on 10/28/2009, -2/+75I just hope that people see it as what it's intended to be, not what it seems to be at face value. It seems to be a cheap way to generate buzz. Knowing Infinity Ward, it's intended purpose is to force the player into a god-awful situation so the player fully understands the enemy he'll be fighting for most of the game. It's a way to expose the horror of a terrorist attack to players, since most of our experiences of terrorist attacks are on the television - e.g. they're hard to relate to or understand. The civilian-killing part is exceedingly brutal and disturbing, but I think that's the point. They want you to see exactly what a terrorist attack is like, from all sides, even if brutality is an aspect. They did that to some extent in Modern Warfare (with the execution level near the beginning) and this is just an extension of that. Personally, I think this will anger a lot of people - it's a huge risk on Infinity Ward's part - but I think it was very clever of them to include it. I'm all the more excited to play the game now, because now I know it definitely won't be a generic, cookie-cutter Call of Duty game.
- clouds31, on 10/28/2009, -1/+72Feels like Counter Strike only with a bunch of hostages and no penalty for killing them.

Article about IW raping PC gamers

place to tell IW that you won't be buying their game no matter how cool it looks.
This is just one small step in a downward spiral for PC gaming lets stop this ***** in its tracks. - opticwind, on 10/28/2009, -2/+52Something's...different here. I love GTA and I loved Rampage, but neither of them were a realistic example of a shoot-up. This was a bit too realistic.

- EnTaroTassadar, on 10/28/2009, -0/+42After a long legal struggle, it'll be available in Australia, but as a heavily censored version of the original game.
Australian game critics will compare MW2 to Cooking Mama. - sputnikv, on 10/28/2009, -1/+43lol, is this game gonna be sold in australia?
- Simssega, on 10/27/2009, -2/+43I'm guessing its the killing of civilians.
- Eyght, on 10/28/2009, -2/+38It is a clever way to exploit the human moral compass. We are all reluctant to shoot at innocent people - even if it's in a game. The game developer knows this and exploits the fact that we will feel guilty for falling for the group pressure. When we are betrayed and caught we feel relieved. And when we are put to the test in the following missions, we will feel an increased need to prove ourselves to be on the "good" side, and thus the game developer have created an emotional connection that will make the game feel more engaging and important to us. Each time you beat a mission and earn your "moral points" back will give you a greater sense of achievement than if the emotional link would not have been established early on.
- sanman, on 10/28/2009, -2/+35 how is terrorist-bomber formed?
- HeyyyJoe, on 10/28/2009, -2/+35That was ***** intense.

- HeyyyJoe, on 10/28/2009, -1/+34If a movie was made of this same scenario, there wouldn't be ANY lawsuits. Same goes for video games; they aren't doing anything illegal.
- tgc1, on 10/28/2009, -11/+44Controversial?
Sorry folks. Nothing is sacred anymore. If you think so, then you haven't been paying ONE ***** BIT of attention for the last 50 years. We've been indoctrinated over and over again to accept violence as acceptable. Albeit in certain circumstances among certain people. Let me explain.
In Cinema we've been spoon fed the Rambo stuff and the whole gung-ho attitude. Apocalypse Now, etc. All those war movies, where soldiers kill people. Sometimes civilians. Sometimes a "bad guy" -- but humans none the less. We've had generations of video games that recreate those things as well. Not in such a realistic manner, but they recreate it. You've also got Paint Ball, Airsoft etc. Which simulate battle conditions.
Now some may not agree. They'll say "Well in this video we're just mowing down innocent people" -- True. But those are not people. Those are pixels, textures and math. They also have no tag or title. Like Terrorist, or Insurgent, or Enemy. That is a video game. Not real life. If you do not and cannot understand or discern the difference then YOU have the problem. I am going to be the first one to throw down the freedom of speech card on this one.
There is NO LIMIT to freedom of speech or it isn't free. That's how it works. Sorry. There's no limit. Because the moment you put a limit, you have to entrust someone to put their good conscience to it. To decide what is and what is not okay. And so to that end you are not free. Because you are again seeking permission. Your speech, therefore, is free or it isn't. There is not half way. But that doesn't mean by having the freedom to say what you want, that there are no consequences for that. It just means you can say it.
I don't see a problem with this because it's a video game. Sure, I probably wouldn't play it. But who's to say if I were offered I wouldn't? You ever play Grand Theft Auto? I have a few of them. Mowed down plenty of people. Ever played Carmageddon? Recklessly driving around running over people and not caring? I think sometimes people need that. It sure helped melt the stress away after a hard day or week. It's a psychological outlet. That is all it is. And if you are of sound mind and can actively discern the differences between fantasy (including simulation) and reality -- you're all good. I don't think it's that hard. But if you're already mentally unhinged or something, then this game isn't going to suddenly make those people start reenacting the game. That's stupid.
I think even the people who seek to be the most morally peaceful encounter periods in their lives where they imagine doing some pretty ***** up ***** to people. But the difference between actually going forward with it and not, is the persons conscience and ability to again discern fantasy from reality. Reality has consequences. That is what stops most people. Given a world with no consequences i'm not so sure many would be so reserved.
At the end of the day you can't all tell me the only thing stopping you from doing that is because it's illegal and/or you might get killed in the process. It might just be that your moral compass points in the direction of knowing that that sort of activity is completely and undeniably removed from your being. From your ability to carry it out. To pick up a gun and do that. There aren't many in the world who can. And even in the Military they have to break you down and build you back up. A lot of people have a hard time picking up a gun and shooting someone. Even hardened war vets have trouble sleeping at night because of it (see: PTSD). The game is what it is. A game. You can play it or put it down. But if you're going to sit there and cast judgment on it. Be prepared to back it up with an modicum of some sort of sense. - BREZZZ, on 10/28/2009, -0/+32Reminds me of State of Emergency.
- Nyaos, on 10/28/2009, -17/+49I feel like a twit saying this but I felt kinda the same way after watching the Columbine videos as I did watching this. I think they went a little too far... it's just not Call of Duty in my opinion.
