- UEichen, on 06/10/2009, -3/+87I hope they just take it easy on the over the top part, realism kicked a lot of ass in MW1
- Fabbyfubz, on 06/10/2009, -0/+62Hopefully this means Chainsaw-Rocket Launcher
- ProfessorSYM, on 06/10/2009, -1/+52Wrong, in Alaska they skydive on "snowmachines" whilst shooting wolves with rifles. Occasionally, they shoot at each other mid-air.
- ascronaut, on 06/10/2009, -1/+49Snowmobile gunfights never happen outside of James Bond films.
- RegalBegal, on 06/10/2009, -0/+40I see you've never died and ***** a grenade before.
- Goda90, on 06/10/2009, -0/+37If they change the gameplay feel too much from MW1 then they are making a mistake.
- FTWmovin2canada, on 06/10/2009, -2/+39Rocket-Launched Chainsaw*
- SirVenro, on 06/10/2009, -0/+34I believe he meant to say that Modern Warfare 2 is aiming for pure unadulterated awesome.
- macfan93, on 06/10/2009, -1/+34I never knew that vehicles could have homosexual tendencies!
- ai52487963, on 06/10/2009, -4/+33I can has Farsight XR-20?
- V3NOM, on 06/10/2009, -0/+29MW1 followed the same trend as the article is talking about. It seemed authentic, but it played far too much like an arcade shooter to be realistic.
It sounds to me like the devs are shooting for the same kind of balance found in the first game. Nothing new here. - Airbear007, on 06/10/2009, -1/+28Yeah i dont really want to get shot in the leg and then have to spend the rest of the match in a corner slowly bleeding to death.
- diggduggDOOM, on 06/10/2009, -0/+25Rear End Loader
- Tyrghast, on 06/10/2009, -6/+27Realism is overrated anyway.
- aspec, on 06/10/2009, -0/+21You're forgetting Die Hard 2.
- CobraClutch, on 06/10/2009, -1/+19Perks are so realistic.
- inactive, on 06/10/2009, -0/+17No realism? Damn I was hoping to crouch for 2 days straight under a bed of leaves with my laptop waiting for the perfect shot
- inactive, on 06/10/2009, -0/+16UH COD4 was not realistic...if you want to see realistic warfare see ARMA 2. I loved COD 4 btw, just saying.
- Mankind121, on 06/10/2009, -0/+16True Lies?
- w00master, on 06/10/2009, -1/+16How was CoD4 realistic? It wasn't, and neither should MW2.
- ort888, on 06/10/2009, -0/+15Because when I think of realism I think of one guy mowing down hundreds of enemy combatants and shrugging off multiple bullet wounds by ducking behind a wall for 5 seconds.
- pixelate, on 06/10/2009, -2/+16Sarah?
- inactive, on 06/10/2009, -0/+14BS.
I killed 7 people in a row and the chopper came. - Legoman513, on 06/10/2009, -0/+13After seeing the trailer it seemed pretty clear that they were going to take this route.
- smitas, on 06/10/2009, -1/+14There is a very thin line between reality and drama in entertainment industry.
- phpchris, on 06/10/2009, -1/+13Has anyone mentioned Die Hard 2 yet?
- Shazbuckle, on 06/10/2009, -0/+11MrintheKeys, I bet if you got shot in the leg you'd just sit there and try and save your own life instead of fighting some more.
I know I would. - thegrizz51, on 06/10/2009, -0/+11What about Die Hard 2?!?!
- CoreyHalliwell, on 06/10/2009, -0/+11Just as a thought.
I've played COD since it's inception in, i think 2003? And every game, has been amazing (COD WAW: Debatable) but either way COD 4 was a single player experience i HAD to finish, in 3 nights (i work) i had it done and it was so amazingly put together. However, the multiplayer while amazingly good fun, with great weapons, it involved a ***** ton of spam that took a way from the experience of holding weapons so beautifuly modled with their sounds being recorded from the real thing. Helicopters, Air Strikes, grenades, all really stopped you from playing in what i'd call a Pure form. Now with air strikes/helis, you can take cover but on maps like the ship... you can barely move without having a grenade tossed into your face and with some guys carrying up to 3 grenades i think it is, it's just ridiculous. I had taken like a year break from the game and came back a couple nights ago and it's still exactly the same.
I guess in short:
I hope CODMW2 takes out the spam factor in their Multiplayer. As for being based on Entertainment, that's fine, i'm sure the game will turn out awesome, COD 4, i found was the perfect balance of realism and game for me. Minus the spam of course ;) - mwalker05, on 06/10/2009, -0/+11god i sure hope so. if they were going to be realistic the game would consist of disarming carbombs and jacking off in the bathroom while struggling to stay hydrated.
- inactive, on 06/10/2009, -0/+11lol seriously. Soap knocks a guy off a snowmobile with an ice pick for crying out loud.
- MRintheKeys, on 06/10/2009, -2/+13That's why you tear off a piece of your shirt and tie a tourniquet around the thigh. Now get back out there, pansy.
- NaziHatinChimp, on 06/10/2009, -2/+12Yeah CoD 4 seemed more realistic and I was disappointed when this one seemed like it may stray from that, but I trust these guys to suprise me and make something I love.
- xexx, on 06/10/2009, -2/+11Good, maybe we can avoid the campfest that real life / CoD: World at War is.
- CoD4, on 06/10/2009, -1/+10What, you don't believe in my sleight of hand?
- styx31989, on 06/10/2009, -3/+12Realistic or not, I'm all game if the gameplay and story are as good as the first!
- JFitzpatrick, on 06/10/2009, -2/+11Am I the only one who read that headline as "modern warfare to focus on entertainment, not realism" and then thought about our current war machine morphing into a bigger rating-driven beast than it already is? =/ I'm glad the headline is about a game.
- jack2454, on 06/10/2009, -1/+9"Error establishing a database connection"
- KnightMareInc, on 06/10/2009, -2/+10you mean every other cod game? im shocked.
- Swarms, on 06/10/2009, -2/+10Grand Theft Auto 4: We made it real, but forgot the fun.
- chaos7, on 06/10/2009, -0/+8I have faith in Infinity Ward
- Rudegar, on 06/10/2009, -2/+9"Reality Is Just a Crutch For People Who Can't Handle Science Fiction"
- Spire3660, on 06/10/2009, -0/+7I really love the full on cinematic route some games are now doing. CoD4's opening act is better then some of the better movie action sequences Ive seen. Uncharted 2 looks like its going to be a cinematic Tour de force. If you havent checked out the E3 trailer for it yet, its HIGHLY recommended.
- Radan, on 06/10/2009, -0/+7Oh good, now you made me remember how much I miss the original Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six.
- thegrizz51, on 06/10/2009, -1/+8Maybe they will include the Bananabomb from Worms!! That'd be SWEET!!!!
- inactive, on 06/10/2009, -1/+8Personally I hated the goddamn NPC choppers every 2 minutes shooting my ass.
- Table16, on 06/10/2009, -0/+7that would make for quite interesting fire fights in real life that's for sure.
- Krissam, on 06/10/2009, -0/+7Not to mention they sometimes see Russia
- KSUdesigner, on 06/10/2009, -0/+6Exactly. Everything can stay exactly the same as far as I'm concerned, I just want new maps. Well, I could do without the ***** helicopters too.
- V3NOM, on 06/10/2009, -0/+5CoD 3 was much worse than WaW. The latter was good, though not great; the former sucked.
