- sdrawkcaB, on 10/12/2007, -3/+26I plan to buy one, and haven't bought the first.
They're probably right though, most people just didn't have the square footage to put the first one in! - JimDigg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20I did not own an Xbox (PS2) but I do own a 360 (and a Wii)
(2/3) - Brocclibob, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21You could probably say the same about the wii.
- bdub92, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15I am not surprised, as the main reason many people chose the ps2 over the xbox was the fact that althought the xbox had better graphics, the ps2 game lineup was a force to be reckoned with....hmm, it sounds familiar....
THE TABLES HAVE TURNED SONY! - Sabin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14Out of the 8 people i know with 360s only 3 owned an xbox. This sounds about right.
- NailToTheX, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Consoles:
1 - xbox 360
1 - NES
1 - Atari 2600
thats it for me - fatsobob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Personally, I never owned an original xbox. I got the 360 because they finally nailed it with many of the features like wireless controllers.
- illwilly, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Never owned an xbox, but I got an xbox 360 and I just have to say that this system has not disappointed me since I bought it in November. :]
- plnegative1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Dreamcast > PS2
- omatsei, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Reasons I bought a PS2 first, followed by an Xbox:
1. More good games.
2. More good games expected than the competition.
3. It was cheaper.
4. The controller was more comfortable.
Now, reasons I bought a 360 before a PS3, and why I still like the 360 more:
1. More good games.
2. More good games expected than the competition.
3. It was cheaper.
4. The controller was more comfortable. - shutz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I used to have an original XBox, bought about 6 months after launch... Then, last September, my appartment was broken into, and they stole it, along with the DOA3 disc that was inside. They left the other games that were lying around the console, but they stole all my Gamecube games, which were neatly stacked nearby, on top of the Gamecube, which they didn't steal. But the funniest part is that my insurance replaced the Xbox with an XBox 360, and I got to pick a 360 game to replace the stolen DOA3. At first I wanted DOA4, but I switched to Dead Rising after trying the demo out.
So, technically, I owned an XBox 1 before I got a 360, but it was never in my plans to get a 360 (cost was way too high for my budget) as I was saving up to buy a Wii.
The final irony is that I still don't have a Wii, as they're so damn hard to find... and I actually waited in line for over 4 hours one Saturday morning about 2 weeks before the holidays, in front of the local Toys 'R Us, but I was number 50-something and they only had 20 consoles.
So, on one hand, I'm having lots of fun with XBLA games and watching hi-def content through TVersity, but on the other hand, I still don't have a Wii.
I'm going out to try and get a Wii this morning. Wish me luck... - spinchange, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5We did NOT have XBOX 1 but got a 360 for Christmas.
Have PS2. My wife and son are the gamers in the house. - pitbull67, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I have a 360 and did not own the previous xbox. My last console was a sega genesis and then I just dropped out of the console market.
The funny thing is.....gaming did not bring me back to consoles.....wanting a media center extender did. I priced them out and they were becoming obsolete and were expensive....nearly $300. I found out that the xbox had the MCE built in so I bought a premium system.....not thinking I would do much gaming on it. Well......now I have 17 360 titles.......and it hardly gets used as an MCE anymore.
I still have the genesis. I have an old NES....and I just bought a used Nintendo 64 system. I will be buying a Wii at some point but want to wait to see what the v2.0 will look like this spring. I also will most likely buy the v2.0 of the 360. - betterth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Never got an Xbox, but I do have a Xbox360.
- spawnfree, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8most people who own an xbox1 simply dont have room for any other consoles.
i hollowed out mine and converted it into a day-room for the kids.
i put wheels on the pads and now i drive them to work.
i dont work in comedy. - pegisys, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@omatsei, the games are upscaled now and it looks pretty good, one of the pluses of having a dedicated scaler
as far as wii
it could be said that there is gamecube hardware inside the wii, but the wii and gamecube are both the same architecture with the wii having a speed increase
everything else is done in software - alstewart73, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6In this order...
Intellivision>
ZX Spectrum>
SNES>
MEGA DRIVE>
PSOne
PS2
Xbox 360.
The PS3 looks crud and don't want to pay xtra bucks for a potential betamax dvd drive. - szembek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I've never even played an Xbox. Everybody seems to have ps2s that I know.
- Klisk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3PS2, Wii, 360...
Yeah, I bought a 360 and did not own an Xbox 1. It's true. My current setup includes PS2, Wii, and Xbox 360. No Xbox 1.
Likewise, I will never own a PS3. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7all the real xbox kids stay true to the original... and i can't afford a 360 yet...
- bryan4, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2How in the hell does Microsoft know that!!??
- gallagherFTW, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2both, although i didn't have my xbox 1 for long, just over a year before i upgraded. halo 2 is what got me to buy it.
- jimvwmoss, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2No xbox 1 but i own a 360
- BabyWookie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I never owned an XBox. I always thought that it was a big, ugly beast of a system that was quickly put together and was too much of a budget PC in an ugly black and green box. Now, the 360 is also kind of a beast, but it's an elegant, very well-designed beast, esthetically and technically. They even got the OS right and that's a huge accomplishment for MS. I have to admit that the 360 made me its fanboi.
- daedalus779, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2got a xbox 360 with my tax return last year, hopefully get an HDTV to go along with it this year.
Did not own the original xbox. - CrappedCrusader, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The last console I owned before the 360 was a SNES. I didn't get an orig. xbox or ps2 cause the graphics were s#!tty on regular tvs and computer games looked better b/c I was using a high res monitor. Even regular XBOX games look better in prog. scan & Widescreen. I recommend Forza! I got the 360 cause it rivals a computer if you have it hooked up to a HDTV (and I do). I'd like to get a Wii, but cannot... I sat in front of a Best Buy for 2 hours one sunday morning in December, and I was 2nd in line, only to find that they didn't get a single one in stock.
- lejake, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3This is actually a significant statistic, because it represents people like myself who were PS2 owners and "loyal" to Sony who looked at the comparison and facts about both systems and decided the 360 was the better system. The same transition happened with me when I jumped from owning Nintendo systems (NES, SNES, 64) to the PS2 because it was the best overall system out there.
If you would have told me a year ago that I would own a 360 and be sworn off of the PS3, I would have said you were crazy. - hirschab, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21 PS3
1 X-Box
1 Gamecube
1 PS2 Slim
1 PSP
NO 360... Although the decision was hard... Final Fantasy got me in the end... - BabyWookie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Speaking as a 360 owner who does have a Wii, you are not missing very much by not having a Wii right now. The Wii is vastly overrated and the 360 is a much better gaming system at this point in time.
- Tainek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Brwnx , more than the Gamecube@ 21 Million, it was around 23 Million IIRC
- gallagherFTW, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2i have to say that the 360 really has delivered and im surprised it hasn't sold THAT well, i mean 10.4 mil shipped is great, but they have dead rising, gears of war, PGR3 and halo 3/mass effect/crackdown/guitar hero coming this year. maybe microsoft's marketing strategy isn't working because the 360 really has everything it needs now and in the future.
- rivercityjessie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Well have fun with those last gen systems then buddy. I have a feeling you may be waiting awhile for those requirements...
- Boofster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It is the truf. But I bought it mainly for HD-DVD and now like it for other reasons.
I never did PS1 either. - ddubbs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1by the time i finally got around to getting an xbox, the 360 came out, so i just got it
- Jolva, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Forza Motorsports 2 can give you your Grand Turismo fix, Forza 1 for the xbox was awesome.
http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/f/forzamotorsport2/ - Cyber_Akuma, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I got an original Xbox as well (Panzer Dragoon Orta was a major selling point for me, sad how that game is still not selling even in the bargain bin yet junk games from a year ago are still almost full price, I had actually preordered PDO) and recently got a Xbox360.
Strangely, although I bought it nearly 1-2 years after launch (yes, new), it was still a V1.0 that used a separate sister-board for the controller inputs. Found out its a 1.0 the hard way when I almost destroyed it modding it years later >. - nickels, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1me:
Intellivision
Nintendo
Sega 16x + Sega CD (yup, I was a dope) + 32x (worthless)
Dreamcast
PS 1
Nintendo 64
PS 2
Xbox 360
So I guess I am part of the 50% - wyldtek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11 PS2
1 Xbox 360 (with HD-DVD drive) - Dysl3xicDog, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I didn't buy a xbox but I bought a 360 on launch day after a very cold night!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I have two of the original xbox. The one that quit working is still sitting in my closet. I was going to sell it on ebay but I lost the big giant screws that hold the thing together (yeah I wanted to take a look inside). With all the modders out there I'm guessing someone would buy it even if it is broken and without screws. Personally I think the harddrive just went bad.
Oh, no 360 yet but I probably will when the price for the good setup is around 3 bills. - plnegative1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I have a friend who bought 360 that didn't have an XBOX. I think this makes alot of sense because at the point the 360 came out more non-gamers had been converted to gaming. It is the effect of the original Xbox that Microsoft is considering it seems and it makes sense. My friend liked the original Xbox and it wasn't until the 360 that they decided to get one. On the flip side, I own an Xbox 1 and do not own a 360.
- briandeitch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That statement is true. Just bought my 360 last month. My previous console? NES
- ElectricGrandpa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wii and 360 for me, no xbox
- stung47000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1NES - SNES - Atari LYNX - XBOX - XBOX360
I might have bought an N64, PS1 and PS2 but back then I had roommates and they had one.
I'm considering getting a Wii and DS - dchaosdx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1never bought either. but i got a 360 for christmas from the girlfriend (woot)
- Spikito, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11 modded xbox, 1 atari 2600, had a wii for about 2 days, then some offered me a lot of money for it.
- MacBandit, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I'm willing to bet that the majority of new console owners has never owned any console before. This is because they were too young to have one when the last consoles were popular. The same goes for any toy.
- coffee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I didn't own a xbox either. But I have xbox360, wii, and PS2.
- somesthetic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I had an original xbox, but I sold it a few months after I bought it.
- rivercityjessie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i was anti xbox/pro ps2 before I met my boyfriend and learned the wonders of modding the console. Now we have 2 modded xboxes with Xbox media center on them (one in the living room, one in the bedroom). I gave him a 360 for his birthday, but i had ulterior motives (namely Oblivion).
As for everything else I am Wiiless (not by choice) and PS3less (by choice, although I would like to play Lair). I'm waiting until stores to get a steady flow of Wiis so I don't have to camp out when they get a shipment, just playing the gamecube and a friend's Wii until I find my own. -
