- iluvatar, on 10/12/2007, -5/+39wait... wouldn't "we don't comment on speculative items" be a comment on a speculative item?
- dgritsko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+34No, it's a comment on their policy regarding speculative items.
- revenge7, on 10/12/2007, -2/+26So, the question is: How do I trade my old 360 for this new one?
- 98acura, on 10/12/2007, -3/+24PS3 = instabury... so sad too.. I really hate fanboys, they have ruined the internet.. Cant everyone just accept the fact that some people like other things?
- VeryAngryJim, on 10/12/2007, -4/+23if you really wanted a ps3, why did you buy the 360?
- Zoids, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15"We have seen all types of claimed leaked photos like this show up online and as a standard policy we don't comment on speculative items."
Not denying it, nor confirming it. This makes perfect sense, as if they announced a new 360 at this point, those potential 360 owners will wait for the newer system. - wicked9, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10so we learned just about nothing

"when a company's revelation of information about future products results in customers not purchasing (or delaying purchases of) the current offering" - Hoov, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10It'd be really nice if people who bought a 360 got a discount on the 120. I wouldn't care if I had to order it through Microsoft and wait a few days for shipping.
It's just too bad the current dvd drive is noisy as hell. - Caleb83, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Maybe if your 360 conveniently breaks, you can use the new extended warranty to finagle one of these?
- iskatebad914, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11im with this guy
- EXreaction, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11"Microsoft responds to HDMI Xbox 360 images"
"We have seen all types of claimed leaked photos like this show up online and as a standard policy we don't comment on speculative items." -Microsoft
Why would anyone post an article with that as a sum up of it?
Although, it was pretty funny reading the comments on the article...then you remember that most of the people running this country know less than those idiots... - ByteGuerilla, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Not even Alanis Morrissette would think that was irony...
- yensed, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9If it comes with the 120GB HDD, I'll be pissed. If all that is new is an HDMI port, I couldn't care less.
- randomvictim, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10A comment about not commenting?
I bought a 360 less than two weeks ago and I really wanted a ps3 because of the HDMI and larger hard drive. If this is true I will be extremely pissed off. - dr00, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4i guess we'll know in a few days at CES
- VeganG, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4FormulaOne now works for my Block List.
- Iccanui, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Wait, so this story claiming that MS responds to the hdmi output, is a link to a story where MS's response is we dont comment.
*rolls eyes*
buried. - GameCop, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Well, it's 100% REAL -> http://digg.com/gaming_news/Exclusive_360_HDMI_Proof_HR_Pictures_and_Video_HANA_Scaler
- EXreaction, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"I really wanted a ps3 because of the HDMI and larger hard drive."
Thats the only reason?!?!?!
Buy a friggin PC then, because it sounds like you don't care about games! - mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3It's noisy but it's fast. I guess there's a tradeoff between speed and noise, personally i'd rather have the speed because the noise is unnoticeable background noise when playing a game with audio at a moderate level. Of course, there are ways to alter the max read speed of the drive in order to make it quieter..
- SuMizzle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Check out his comment history...PS3 fanboy and all around tech poser.
- homercaholic18, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2He doesn't work for Microsoft, he just using a bunch of big words and saying interesting stuff to make it look like he does. I mean honestly, would someone who actually did work for Microsoft be talking about how they might redesign the motherboard and make it better? He A) Doesn't work for Microsoft or B) is an incredibly stupid employee who wants to look important.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The big 3 always respond to rumors like this, just check out gamespot's rumor central and you'll see.
- mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Well.. either Microsoft fears raising the expectations of their customers .. or they're scared ***** at the prospect of people finding out about their planned revision which will likely lead to smaller sales numbers as potential customers wait out the current generation.
- ScoobyG, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I find it amusing that some people who already bought the 360 think they're somehow entitled to get the new model and feel Microsoft "shafted" them. You bought what you bought. I didn't go back to my car dealer when the new model came out, with more features for less money. I'd be laughed at. How is this different?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2don't pee ur pants
- EXreaction, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Ah, sorry to bust your fanboyism, but anyone who says a digital device can't output a digital signal is wrong.
- snipes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The hell are you?
- revenge7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Take the receipt to the store you bought it from, and buy a warranty. Then, when the new one comes out, you may be able to trade in your old one.
Of course, this is all a rumor for now, so wait until it is confirmed. - revenge7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@ Caleb
But will they give you the new one, or the older one? - mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I bought the 360 in personal belief that Microsoft would release a DVI/HDMI adapter .. they haven't and they seem to say there are no plans to do so in the future. BUT they said they would consider releasing one if the market was right for it, and it definitely is at present, so hopefully they do.
In any case, I own the VGA connection, and the image quality is great. I would still love a dvi connection due it's improved black-level detail, and because I use an LCD monitor. - Snowcone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1How is this digg worthy? MS never comments on rumors.
- snipes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@ azurepalm
Thanks for the vid, that was cool, I wonder what MS will say to that...
Anyhoo, I'm not too crazy about all the HDMI talk...I need to get a friggin RF Unit for my 360 to use on my TV at school...lol. - davidirock, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Some tips for nextime so that you can get dugg down, Insert random incoherent arguments. For example, in this article it would be a good idea to say "Linux supports HDMI!" or better yet "The PS3 R0CKs" (Note the o is actual a zero.) Also make sure that when you correct other people that you are a compleat jerk. Somewhat like what I'm doing right now. Remember to always refer to microsoft as M$ and throwing in how Ubuntu saved the live of your small child helps as well.
Well Good luck next time. Hope you get dugg down like you want. To help you out, I pushed the red buttion buddy. - rishid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You can still probably return if you want to wait that badly. I don't this new version coming out till May-June
- nobogeys217, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1dammit. I want HDMI on my current 360 :(
- Jolene, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Someone correct me if I'm wrong. But couldn't they just use the current connection that plugs into the 360, and just have the end of the cord be an HDMI plug instead of component or what have you? Wouldn't it more so matter that the system is sending out the high res image, seeing as the component cable already supports HD. Or am I wrong in thinking that?
- Shaunt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2got mine at costco with this in mind ;)
- gwolf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It wouldn't have to be on the board, but a small card, maybe attached to the HDMI plug it's self. Sony changed the spec. on the 20 gig PS3 at the last second to include HDMI, why not Microsoft.
- snipes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1In other words...
"Damnit, you got us." - dagamer34, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Since when do the big 3 actually make MEANINGFUL comments toward rumors? Heck, most of the time they just say "we don't comment on rumors" so crazy rumors don't get blown out of proportion if they go on for too long.
- LycoLoco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wait...so their response is essentially "no comment"? Hardly seems like a response to me.
- TDR25, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If Microsoft goes through with this as a standard on the new consoles, I guess it's safe to say that the improvement would be the real 360 considering the one in '05 was kind of rushed.
- SharkyTech, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"I wouldn't expect a product on the shelves for another 12-18 months."
Why, in your professional opinion would you say that, considering MS has had 12 months to re-design the board and we're clearly seeing a functional revision. - skrew, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Speaking with Ars Technica, Microsoft Director of Platform Strategy Scott Henson explained that the Xbox 360 HD-DVD drive would likely never be internalized into a future version of the console because "[we] don't want to charge customers $200 extra for something that may be the next Betamax." While Henson's frank remark is definitely a PR no-no (though it could easily be interpreted as a shot at Sony), it simply echoes the current state of uncertainty: No one knows which format, HD-DVD or Blu-ray, will prevail. Microsoft has clearly aligned itself and the Xbox 360 with HD-DVD, but it's left open the possibility of a Blu-ray switcheroo -- Peter Moore openly acknowledged as much during CES last year."
- sotopheavy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Dugg, Got my Wii the first morning it came out... So I can now with renewed hope wait for 360 to upgrade... Sony better come up with a lazer-9 connection on the back of their PS3 to hook up to a float screen or they are in trouble (South Park).
- Cam_86, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1When i heard the 2end version of the 360 was going to be delayed till late Q2 of '07, i was just about to pick up one this weekend... Knowing the new version will have the 65nm chip, HDMI and i hope to god a new optical drive, really makes waiting for it worth it.
