Microsoft refuses to let users remove credit card info from Xbox Live.
achieve360points.com — I have been emailing MS customer service to remove credit card information from my profile, since I have children who use the account and I don't want them to charge my card. Their response after a half dozen emails and 3 phone calls is... screw you. Are they hoping to make some money when unauthorized transactions take place? I think so.

- kylesellers, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Sorry to link to my own content, but I'm hoping to create some controversy and reach enough eyeballs so that MS will fix their *****.
- truspector, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Why not just password protect the live account and quit crying about it. You can create separate profiles for your kids to use.
- kylesellers, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1The point is that you can only set up a 4 digit passcode, and that's not exactly the greatest security method. In my case, I mistakenly used my card on someone else's gamertag, figuring I could just remove it afterwards.
- rderveloy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Buried as inaccurate!

It still keeps the "record" of your card as being removed on your account, but it will no longer show up under "methods of payment" on your console. I've done this myself.

If that doesn't work, he should just call them, ask for the billing department, and tell them to cancel the account. Canceling the account does not cancel or delete a profile (AKA Gamertag), it just removes the billing data. - carapi, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Give me a ***** break. If you are worried about your kids trying out 10,000 combinations just to steal from you, please call social services and give your kids away. Based on that, and your little whining bitchfest here, you are unfit to raise children.
- kylesellers, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2They're not even my children, but sometimes I have my nephews over and let them fool around on the xbox. The point is that no other respectable online service bars you from removing your credit card from the account, dumbass.
- kton25, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Dugg for principle!
I know how frustrating it is to get through to some of these mega corps. This perfectly illustrates the power of community-driven sites like digg.- kylesellers, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Yeah, except it's not getting dugg ;)
- carapi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Instead of digging for principle, how about reading hte article and realizing that it is inaccurate?
- Gustomucho, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1My advice for you, go to your bank and get one of those "charged" credit card. It's a new kind of CC that are used like an ATM card. You decide how much money you put on (ie 100$), and you cannot put more on it, after the 100$ is gone, the CC is obsolete. That's mostly to prevent CC fraud on internet.
Change your CC info and punch in the "charged CC" number, after you have used up all the money on it, it will be done.
I understand your frustration though, it is pretty stupid from M$ to operate this way. Thanks for the heads' up thogh- carapi, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Hey...there is this cool new site for people like you. 12 year olds who like to continue to use asinine acronyms like LOL, ROFL, and M$ It is called MySpace. You should check it out. It is definitely more your maturity level.
- MyHappyClam, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Call the bank and tell them that the card was stolen by Mircosoft.
- carapi, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1And then get arrested for making false accusations. SMART idea.
(Actually, it would be a good thing, as it would get an unfit father away from his children.) - kylesellers, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1You're an absolute prick. And since you keep referring to the reply about Passport credit card info. Have you tried it? It does NOT allow you to remove any of your credit cards. That post was plain wrong.

- bluengu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is true. I can't get my CC info out of my xbox live account. I even called the Xbox Live folks and they say it can't be done. This pisses me off alot! Microsoft sucks ass.
- briandw, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0I have had the same problem. I called and they did finally agree to remove my card info. But only after 20 mins of talking to people in India. But thats not enough, they must call me back for for it's finished! Thinking about canceling my live service. Maybe prepaid?
- nuktu, on 04/28/2008, -0/+0i got the same problem. I emailed Xbox Live Support, but I got a response which has nothing to do with my query. I emailed Consumer Affairs here in Ireland, still waiting for a response. What they are doing is technically illegal (although they are probably in a loop hole) and I recommend and encourage everyone to email their government/consumer affairs/ombudsman or any sort of watchdog body that looks into dodgy businesses or illegal activity. I'm considering emailing it to the European Consumer Affairs, as they would have a stronger voice against MS.
