- VeganG, on 10/12/2007, -5/+124Because you spend more time re-shuffling and re-dealing than you do playing, and eventually get fed up and quit.
- borninda818, on 10/12/2007, -5/+94has anyone ever tried playing solitaire with actual cards? It much harder to win.
- Justin6512, on 10/12/2007, -10/+68a bug in a Microsoft application???
.... how shocking.... - Vokas, on 10/12/2007, -2/+41Watching Bob Ross is better than most things.
- gcnaddict, on 10/12/2007, -9/+43It's called a bug, and I'm surprised people insist that it's cheating.
I've never had that issue happen with me, ever. - kirakun, on 10/12/2007, -2/+28``Never ascribe to malice that which is adequately explained by incompetence.''
~Napoleon Bonaparte - Dochtuir, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17Really. So when you stack all four suits together at the end, the dupe card doesn't matter? Or have you never actually gotten to the end?
- VeganG, on 10/12/2007, -4/+20You have to be bored out of your skull to play Solitaire. Watching Bob Ross painting on TV is more stimulating than a game of Solitaire.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -18/+33people play that??!!!
- u8myfoood, on 10/12/2007, -5/+20NO!... there's pinball too!
- titlesaysitall, on 10/12/2007, -11/+26I've seen a few bugs in Windows too, it's called the registry and a little thing named .dll
- MaddDog, on 10/12/2007, -22/+36Buried as inaccurate. Clearly he is exploiting some bug in either Windows or maybe emulation software - I have seen much stranger bugs in Windows than this, as I am sure many Digg users have. The title is blatantly misleading, although Windows bugs are always a little funny too.
- MioTheGreat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15Well, they rewrote Solitaire in Vista.......
- lemcoe9, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14If you do Alt - Shift - 2, you automatticly win.
- Linkage155, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14>>My mistake for not knowing every piece of software available on the internet, I'll go re-read Download.com for you.
Not "piece of software" but instead, type of software. "Screen recorders" or capturers have been around for a while now. With this same type of setting. Simply trying to inform you bud; Good luck on your download.com reading! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5qOSQBGflpw
*sits back and relaxes with a dodgy cigarette* - gremlinchief, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13I've had a similar thing happen to me - when it was apparent that I couldn't win, I decided to randomly click cards until the three of clubs disappeared (leaving the cards below it revealable). I got to this point and I gave up:

- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11***** totally ***** know what you ***** mean, I was all like ***** lol! and ***** they were all ***** burying it
- Linkage155, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Dude, its because he's using that crappy half-ass free version of screen recorder, which besides from the horrible quality, has "region" selected, meaning it will only record that certain region of the screen.
- Feesh, on 10/12/2007, -6/+13Hey.
I was only trying to be funny, I realise that Microsoft don't actually spend hours a day trying to figure out how to screw their customers over. (That seems to come naturally to them.)
I'm not using any emulation software as well. I figure that some where in the code a programmer has mistakedly assigned 6 of hearts instead of diamonds by mistake is all, but needless to say, it is quite suprising that a bug like that is in the code, I remember playing solitaire on Windows 3.1, and I doubt that it has changed much since back then. - VeganG, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8True (Bob Ross owns), but you get my point.
- steelmaverick, on 10/12/2007, -6/+13@titlesaysitall
That and something called the "Device Driver" and the "Windows Update" - Majin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Microsoft's software does not have bugs ..... it merely has randomly generated and undocumented features. XD
- eridius, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9@GUNNUT7
Do you have any idea how Solitaire works? If you're missing a card, it's impossible to win. - DigitalDud, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I noticed Vista's Solitaire seems a lot harder than the older versions. Also the original Windows Solitaire was written by an intern (who in those days was unpaid).
- spartan018, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9i've had this happen to me a few times, although only on my tablet pc, which has some mouse gestures software installed that can create some pretty crazy glitches in a bunch of programs, including solitaire. i wouldn't go so far as to called solitaire "rigged", but it definately needs to be rewritten to fix these glitches that have popped up over the years.
- jrmy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I have personally seen this bug happen. I actually took a couple screen shots of it.
We tried to recreate the bug both nothing worked. - wilburx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4at least its not as bad as solitaire in vista: http://wilburx.com/sol.vista.jpg
- steelmaverick, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Looking at pr0n?
- CBTF, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6You're a dumbass.
- Jugalator, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5"Linking to your own blog,"
Who's blog should he link to then to explain the problem? :p
Better going to the source, which actually *is* this blog rather than around it.
Linking to blogs is only a problem when it's not the source of the story.
And I see absolutely no problem with coming up with a story on your own either. - Linkage155, on 10/12/2007, -6/+9Oh, okay Microsoft, that was the last straw!
Seriosly man.. Are you guys that bored, that you'll spend time investigating a half ass game that's just there to look pretty on the OS (and for all OS's in this matter) they're all crappy, you can get some amazingly better flash-based ones online, for free. - Jugalator, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4You're assuming their kernel team also work on Solitaire and it's a matter of sharing time between those. They don't...
- Feesh, on 10/12/2007, -7/+10A screenshot is easy to alter, I'm too lazy to alter a full blown screen..movie thing. Also I think you'll find if you have two 6 of hearts it greatly affects the winnability of the game ;).
I moved the mouse in such a fashion because of my disbelief hehe. I didn't want to capture my whole screen because of the movie's file size. - char71, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3@smokester
Good call."Just let it dance around and play." - ahhell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Oh the HUMANITY!
- bitbytebit, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3@G2
wow strike 2 for you, want to try for 3? .. moron
Do you think before you type? ..nope - BT-Wang, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3it's time for the world to move on to internet reversi.
- GrantTheGr8, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3FreeCell is better anyways.
- teherga, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'm calling photoshop on that one.
- fhsjr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Why did I just watch this whole video, and why was it more entertaining than actually playing the game?
- ltrpmac2, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3makes me worry when they cant even program solitaire properly...
- richardiscool, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5I think some people missed the joke here...
- mc7winkie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I was about to do that and then I remembered that I deleted solitare from my computer to stop people from pissing hours away.
- ItNeverEnds, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'm sure Microsoft has larger crimes and worse atrocities to commit than try to cheat people at solitaire...
- Resolver, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i thought that was internet explorer..
- binarymayhem, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5the bug is windows!
- pinksali, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I have found after playing microsoft solitare for awhile that it is indeed rigged. You'll notice how the cards are always conveniently the perfectly wrong cards underneath. I actually think it is impossible for chance to really play a part in this game. The hidden cards always change accordingly to how smart you play the game. It will let you win but no matter how smart you are, it won't let that happen too long. I find it's not just this game (although it's amoung the worst) but it's almost all computer games. There's no chance in most computer games. They're all rigged to some point. That is a marketing ploy to addict you into buying their crap!
- videozine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Umm no solitaire is not rigged - I opened Solitaire - just to check of course - and what was on my opening screen?
the six of diamonds and the six of hearts.
Definitely burying this story! -
