- HoTHiTTeR, on 10/12/2007, -4/+21Way to go MS!
- threepio, on 10/12/2007, -29/+6Yes! Congratulations on ***** up and then fixing said error! Well done! Bravo! You've set a new level in doing what you're supposed to do!
Riiiiight. Colour me whelmed. Not over, not under, just whelmed. - ahhell, on 10/12/2007, -2/+31I got that email too (actually 2..one english and one french) and I never complained to Microsoft so ***** you trolls.
- roosterjm2k2, on 10/12/2007, -4/+27Companies have clerical errors like this all the time...
The thing is, most companies just kinda "slip" it under the radar and never fix it. MS has came out without any obvious prodding to admit their mistake and fix the problem. Good on them! - phronko, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Yeah, I got this too. I never complained. I haven't even bought any points recently. So they screwed up, possibly a long time ago, and are fixing it. Sure, it'd be better if they never screwed up at all, but given that they did, they're dealing with it well.
- threepio, on 10/12/2007, -29/+6Yes! Congratulations on ***** up and then fixing said error! Well done! Bravo! You've set a new level in doing what you're supposed to do!
- DiGiTaLM4N, on 10/12/2007, -17/+4Microsoft at its PRIME!!!!
- ShadowMagic, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2yea i got one to.
i tried informing joystiq but they didnt pick it up but they probably will after this makes it to the front page. - Scopitone, on 10/12/2007, -6/+13Last year at E3 they charged me over $50 for 2000 points that I never bought. When I saw them on my account after the festivities, I thought I'd befriended someone at the MSoft booth or it was some kind of E3 promotion. After checking my bank, I found that the bastards had charged me along with many other people (confirmed on the forums). The "lucky" ones were only charged between $10-$20. Some MSoft reps swooped in and told people that they would of course be given refunds and that they could keep the points.
SO, I gave the XBox Live people a call that day and explained the situation. I was fwd'd to 3 different people before someone finally told me, "Sir, we do apologize. Your charge will be refunded and you can keep the points". EXCELLENT customer service, I thought. Jump to one month later (I'm not a spaz that's going to check his bank balance daily) and I had yet to receive the refund. So I call them up again and am fwd'd to 3 different people. This time, I'm told that I bought the points and would not be refunded anything. This is despite the fact that hundreds of other people were charged; judging solely from forum posts- who knows how many others were charged and didn't even notice.
The manager rudely hung up on me, I called right back, was again transfered around to people. THIS time, one of the reps slipped and said that on my account were notes detailing how I was supposed to receive a refund. A third manager was nicer than the previous but it basically boiled down to me saying,
Me - "OK, so I was at E3 all day. I, along with who knows how many others, were charged for points that we didn't buy. A month ago I was told I'd be getting a refund along with all the other people, and now I'm being told I won't."
MSoft guy - "Sir, I'm sorry, but it shows that you bought them"
Me - "Right, but I was at E3 all day. With my girlfriend. So their are two scenarios here. 1) Someone broke into my apartment and charge 2000 points to my 360. Took nothing else, and left. 2) A documented error on the part of your company occurred and hundreds of people were charged. OK, which one is it? Are you guys just not refunding me because of how much I was charged? Would this not be an issue if I was simply ripped off for $10 or $20?"
MSoft - "Sir, I'm sorry, I know, blah blah "
Me - "Dude. This is not cool, and you know it"
MSoft - "I know. I'm sorry"
Gamertag - TheScopitone. If someone from Live is reading this, I'm still waiting on that refund. - snecklifter, on 10/12/2007, -7/+0Microsoft once charged me for Windows Millenium which BSOD'd on first boot. Do I get my money back for that?
- Scopitone, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2"I got that email too (actually 2..one english and one french) and I never complained to Microsoft so ***** you trolls."
Am I seeing this correctly? People that were ripped off by Microsoft are being dugg down at the moment whilst THAT guy is being dugg up?
Don't get me wrong. I love my 360. LOVE IT. I'm just not a fan of being shafted more than $50 for something I never agreed to.- Aiwanei, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Umm if you actually look the people who were dugg down didn't get screwed by microsoft, they never said they were once. They were just being pawns in the "I'm so uber because I hate microsoft" shill group.
Note: I'm not talking about the $50 guy, he got shafted and deserves his money but at this money he has +2 diggs so not dugg down to me.

- PaiZuri, on 10/12/2007, -18/+0Microsoft's online service is the joke of gaming world.
$250 dollars it add to the price of the console - $400 + $250 = $650!!! just for a ***** Xbox?
Laggy games with no dedicated servers - what the hell are people paying 50 dollars a years for again?
Retarded game sizes - 8 player max in Gears of War - lame, 16 players in Halo 3 - lame
Oh yeah, you can check out other people's 'achievements' - wow, that' really worth $250!- AwesomeMonster, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12What the *****? Since when was it $250 dollars? Since when did we know the player cap in halo 3? Are you on crack?
I don't know where your getting all this lag form either, whenever i play it it seems lag free. Are you playing on dial-up or something? - Aiwanei, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9How the heck did you get $250? a 12 month subscription is $50, that is all you need for live. Yeah you can buy other stuff you don't need like the camera, but that isn't necessary for live.
edit: Seems awesomemonster just beat me to it. - PaiZuri, on 10/12/2007, -15/+0Price Microsoft forces people to play online games:
$50 a year X 5 year life of the console = $250
What a joke. No wonder Microsoft doesn't give out actual active subscriber numbers. $650 dollars is a complete joke and is certainly one of the big reasons the 360 is selling worse than the first Xbox.
Someone at Microsoft needs to wake up and stop trying to rip gamers off. - frozenwookie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7lmao $250? you been ordering teh pr0n eh?
- anonatron, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8You know what, you have a point there paizuri, why pay $50 per year for a service like live (where I get a consistent connection and an organized online community that all games have to participate in) when I could go with a free service like sony offers and have a different login for every game, different interface based on game developer and inconsistent servers...
I think I will go ahead and part with the 14 cents per day! - PaiZuri, on 10/12/2007, -14/+0"where I get a consistent connection"
You have to be joking!!!

$50 dollars a year for that crap??? - anonatron, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4yeah, you sent me to a link on the GOW forum on teamxbox, I read through the threads hoping that something you have said today might start to make some kind of sense and people would be complaining about connection issues. I see nothing of the sort, this leaves me to believe that you have no idea what you are talking about.
- frozenwookie, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4cough... cough... fanboy... cough...
- PaiZuri, on 10/12/2007, -15/+0cough... cough... Xbox online a joke... cough...
What's so sad is despite the indignant replies from the small number of Xbox fanboys dumb enough to waste 50 dollars a year just for the privilege of playing online is everyone else can browse through their very own forums and see what a complete piece of ***** Xbox 360 games are online:
http://forum.teamxbox.com/forumdisplay.php?f=142
8 players max??? Joke!
Lag,lag,lag!!! No dedicated servers - where's that 50 dollars a year going?
Game disconnects!!! No dedicated servers - where's that 50 dollars a year going?
Broken/retarded gameplay - No one even bothers playing ranked matches!
No one but foaming at the mouth Dreamcast/Xbox fanboys is dumb enough to pay $250 dollars for that garbage. - anonatron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Sorry for feeding the trolls everyone, it seems that all PaiZuri is capable of proving is that xbox live costs $50 per year and gears of war has the option to play online, though it is limited to 8 people. I have yet to hear a relevant thing from him, he makes nonsense arguments and supplies no proof to back up his claims. I hereby declare PaiZuri a worthless hater. In the future Pai, please try to act like an adult.
thank you - PaiZuri, on 10/12/2007, -14/+0anonatron, stop trolling.
This discussion is about Microsoft overcharging gamers for online related services. If you can't add anything to the discussion please stay out of it.
There are plenty of fanboy sites for trolls like you to go play on. - bobrocks, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I just looked at PaiZuri's comments, pai, you are a stupid PS3 fanboy that only has negative things to say about every other console. I am sorry that your system is not doing well, but why the grudge man? Is it because you had to take out a second mortgage to get that PS3 and now you can't afford another system? Some of us actually enjoy games on many systems, it turns out they make some good ones for all of them! You may want to take your head out of your ass, wipe the ***** from your eyes, and look around. Then you will be able to see how brainwashed sony has you.
- unununium, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Gears of War with more than 8 people would suck. Anyone who's actually PLAYED it will know that (most) of the levels are designed perfectly for 8 players.
- NSMike, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3PaiZuri = Blocked
Yeesh, the only troll that is more obvious would be the one that ate the three billy goats.
- AwesomeMonster, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12What the *****? Since when was it $250 dollars? Since when did we know the player cap in halo 3? Are you on crack?
- deslock, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Not just people in Canada should be getting a refund... what about people like me who live in Oregon (or New Hampshire or...) where there is no sales tax? Do I understand correctly that this is all caused by people on the marketplace that paid for the tax-added price for points?
Can anyone tell me if they got a refund email and they live in one of those states?- Spongebobxxx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Although the states of Alaska, Delaware, Hawaii, Montana, New Hampshire and Oregon have no state assessed sales tax, There is NO such thing as a national sales tax in the USA, so nobody in any state should be taxed by Microsoft unless Microsoft has a business located in their state.
- spoonard, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1heh...good thing my Wii doesn`t require any money to connect to the internets!
- anonatron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The article is about purchasing points, it seems to me that the last time I checked the shop channel, Nintendo does charge money to purchase points...
- k4rmapolice, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1just get a wii
