- OverThere, on 10/12/2007, -4/+24If I was forced to spend $1195.95 between the 3.. I'd just buy $1199.95 worth of beer.
- Lennalf, on 10/12/2007, -5/+24As of today, that's:
580.21 US dollars for the 360
967.04 US dollars for the PS3
386.90 US dollars for the beer
Just to put it into context for Americans. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+25"Just wait until they reveal the Playstation 3's secret, then you'll be sorry!"
What, that you can play mostly the same exact games with practically identical graphics, but pay a premium just because it uses the Spiderman font on the box?
Let me spoil the secret of the PS3 for you: it ain't worth buying. - Brereton55, on 10/12/2007, -4/+17I enjoy having 1 friends list thank you very much
- afruff23, on 10/12/2007, -4/+15Who the hell dugg you up?
- DvsDevise, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13It's the premium 360 vs the 60GB PS3.
- CodeBlack, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14The PS3 is by no means a lag free experience. Resistance can lag like crazy. Thats not to say the 360 is lag free either, Gears Of War lags all the time. Above all that who complains about $50 a year, by the end of the year i forget I even paid it. Plus sony doesn't have any dedicated servers that i know of. Its all up to the developers on that.
- Xarou, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13PS3 isn't getting bashed just because of the huge price tag. It is getting bashed for all the lies and deceit that Sony corp has thrown onto people. It is getting bashed because Sony corp thinks that they are better than everyone else and can ***** all on their loyal fans. They have taken their good name and run it through the mud. Sony and the Playstation used to be awesome and the best out there. Now they have fallen and yet the Sony corp doesn't realize this. They are still trying to feed us BS, the same BS that their noses are being rubbed in. PS3 would have a large catalog of games, if they had implemented the backwards compatibility that they promised, but no, they screwed their customers on that side too.
- Zippo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Imagine if Nintendo did this. It'd be a lot more beer.
- byronm, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10mmmmm beeeer
- Coffeedemon, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10And yet you still have 3 or so more YEARS worth of service that you can get from the money left over from the difference in price between the two machines... what was your point?
Most people spend more than 50 dollars per year supporting whatever gadget they own and never bat an eye... how much does cable cost per year so you'll have something to watch on that shiny new TV? - maherjabr, on 10/12/2007, -5/+12I wonder how much they loved their jobs BEFORE they got all this beer...
- CaymanCarpediem, on 10/12/2007, -2/+81) There is no such thing as "lag free online gaming" if you think there is you need to brush up on your networking basics.
2) Neither dedicated server nor player hosted games have an inherernt advantage on lag (except for player hosting). - strictnein, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7So, you think you're going to be playing 2008 online on the PS3, when 2009 comes out? Oh... that's just precious!

Digg ate my less than and greater than - Xarou, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7So you would support a company that would lie to you? You would support a company that would do anything to make a buck? You would support a company that would betray its followers? You would support a company that flip-flops?* You would support a company that would care about making a buck over putting quality parts in their system? Also, you would rather support a company that is forcing people to purchase the more expensive system?** How about supporting a company that is known to install root kits? There are many other things that Sony has done to screw up their good name. Not only is the fact that they lied to their fan-base, but they did all other kinds of despicable things.
Here is where my post can be controversial
Now, if you are willing to support Sony through all of this, but yet hate Bush, and what he is doing... you have to seriously re-evaluate your stand on either one or both.
* - Reference to the fact that they said that rumble was last gen, or it would interfere with their Six-Axis controller, as a reason to not have it in their controllers, but yet are now going to include it.
** - Reference to them discontinuing the 20GB system and making the 60GB system only available.
Here is a timeline of the mistakes Sony has made or their bad press (it only goes to Dec 06, but it is still sizeable)
http://www.gamespot.com/pages/forums/show_msgs.php?topic_id=25247543 - Juntistik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I think its funny. Honestly, though if Sony had a good product, people shouldn't worry about a boat advertising 360 on PS3 launch. In this article its done by a store, not microsoft.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Hehe, banner now beer? This is getting better. What's next blowjobs?
- staticneuron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The lawsuit really means nothing. Chances are there are some engineers out there who designed the Controllers getting screwed because the immersion patents supercedes their patent. With a very non specific two motor setup design they were able to launch a lawsuit against sony and MS. This court case just highlights whats wrong with the patent system.
The whole point is to imply that they did not need rumble so immersion could not use it against them.
I say FUD because lies, and exaggerations are apart of that. Twist it how you want but most of these "Sony doesn't care/ is arrogant, will fail" are from detractors. From the 1080p situation (MS said it was impossible not only recanted but pulled a me too), to the game usage rumor (it wont work on other PS3's), to the loss of exclusives ( only 2 named exclusives to date), to the games will look the same (for ports as usual but what about first party or exclusives? Its because last generation was won off of ports alone..... right?), To the discontinuing of the 20 gig (also false). Not to mention the ball gets rolling with the claims of blu rays demise (doesn't seem to be happening), battery recall (had nothing to do with SCEA or the PS3), rootkit (had nothing to do with SCEA or the PS3).
Every small word or phrase is taken out of context and blown to massive proportions. Snide comments from users and blogging sites (obviously to get more hits off of fanboys). Nothing is good enough. Background downloading? "sucks because it doesn't do it when playing game".. after announced that it "could" the normal comments are " pff, it shoulda been there from the beginning". The idiotic claims of one game or feature not being worth $600 dollars...... over "multiple features and games". And it all adds up to people who are not fans of sony and not interested in purchasing a PS3, launching their complaints as if they are the rightous protectors of Sony's fanbase.
If the PS3 was going to fail it , should need all this effort and attention shouldn't it. Priced at $600 bucks it shouldn't have sold millions, not even in the thousands according to the honest unbiased members here at digg.
Why can't people who wish for Sony's demise be more straightforward? - Xarou, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3"They said that because they were going through a lawsuit. What did you expect them to say without it affecting their case?"
How about "We cannot disclose why the rumble feature isn't included in our controllers" or "Currently we are unable to implement the rumble function" instead of *random lie*. I can understand why they couldn't say "We cannot implement it now, but maybe in the future". And the fact that they were in a lawsuit was their fault too. If they didn't believe that they were top dog and couldn't be taken down, then they would have settled out of court like Nintendo and Microsoft did. But they had to tempt fate and lose hardcore.
"FUD machine"
Did you mean Fear, Uncertainty, & Doubt because that is the only acronym for FUD that would fit. You cannot deny the facts, and that is that Sony is treating their customers like crap. - zetsurin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2"This in no way degrades the quality and playability of either the Wii or the 360."
You see, the infantile mentality on here only sees that. I have attempted to defend Sony in the past only to be labelled as a fanboy. For what? Refuting the stupid rubish put forward and nothing more.
I dugg your comment. Seems like some kid must have already dugg you down because it was too much to read. - pitfallharry, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4I hope they at least put some of those beers in the fridge before opening em.
- Xarou, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3You know what, if some company that I support goes and betrays me, I don't support them anymore. If some company is a known liar and lies about their things, they should be fined or punished. Sony, through all their lies, hasn't. I do my best to not support these kinds of companies. If I know that one does, and there is an alternative, then I will go with that. There is an alternative to the PS3, and that is either Wii or XBox360. So, where do you fall on all of this? Will you support the company that is almost as bad as the RIAA? Will you have conviction to stand up and not purchase from Sony so they will realize that they have pushed away another one of their loyal fans? Or are you just going to take it? If so, you better go out and buy some nice lube, because it is going to hurt.
- Jonmad17, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I bought a PS3.So I give you permission to digg me down.I deserve it.
- tektalk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'd get the 360 and the beer, count me in NZ !
- bobba, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Microsoft in bed with Maxx gold eh? Figures. They should've used the mighty Tui!
Yeah, right - zetsurin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Xarou, you are just another corporate puppet. Either you are on Microsoft's payroll or you are simply working for them for free. We'll never know, but the result is the same either way. You don't realise how manipulated you are already, to think that only ONE corporation could behave that way. It's 1 part naivety, one part stupidity. Everyone is out to make a buck and by criticising only one party you are just helping out another. The world runs on money. Get it, baby?
staticneuron, you have restored my faith in diggmanity somewhat. - TheTjalian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Because what Cleanlyness doesn't know is that Sony Japan/Global is run by an American.
- Xarou, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I know none of the people who were in this conversation is even going to look at this because this article is way past done, but if they are looking at it, here is what I have to say.
I am not on MS's payroll. If anything, I'd rather be on Nintendo's payroll. I support Nintendo more than Sony or MS. I used to be a big supporter of Sony. I loved the PS1/PSX and the PS2. Heck, I am going to be buying a PS2 real soon, mainly because I am moving away from home and my brother owns the one I play on. How else am I going to play Guitar Hero 2? Sony still has some of the FF games on their systems so I'd want to have one to play that. I am torn between wanting Sony to just disapear because of the crap they have put people through, and wanting them to stay around to help stimulate the gaming world. They can go the route of SEGA and just make games, rather than a system, but I do miss the Genesis. I guess it's a good thing I still have one, maybe I'll plug that back in and try to find a game to play. But back to the topic on hand...
@zetsurin
No way! Company want to make money? Who would have guessed? You, my friend, took my words out of context. I said that Sony would do anything to make a buck. That includes writing up a fake press release saying that their PS3 controller won an emmy, when it was actually their PS2 controller along with Nintendo. It included paying someone to make a "fan commercial", that All I Want For Christmas is a PSP thing. Yeah, that was Sony funded. They tried to hide it, but it was discovered. What has Nintendo done to undermine their customer's intelligence?
As for the whole PS3 thing, it will probably be the last current gen system I will buy. I'm getting a 360 soon to play Guitar Hero. I bought the Wii when it came out, first time I camped out for a system. Right now 600 is a lot to drop on a system that doesn't have a lot of games. I have a computer, so that basically takes care of what extra the PS3 has. I could care less about Blu-ray movies right now. I can watch them perfectly on DVD format. Right now there is no incentive to get a PS3. - tgapophis, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2staticneuron: Why can't people who wish for Sony's demise be more straightforward?
With all this anti-Sony banter floating around, coupled with a lot of this prepubescent behavior seen in the comments, and complete ignorance of the gaming industry, sales and production cycles, marketing techniques, and rational analysis of the situation thrown on top. I only have one thing that CONSISTENTLY comes to mind when I read through these Diggs...
MY DADDY CAN BEAT UP YOUR DADDY....
Sony has made an excellent product. This in no way degrades the quality and playability of either the Wii or the 360. All three of these consoles have their strengths and weaknesses. The PS3 is going to be a powerhouse once the software catches up with the hardware, and with the Blu-Ray player thrown in it only makes it that much stronger. The 360 has a phenomenal community management system (XBox Live) and some rather strong titles out for it already, but as a 360 owner I must say that there's a lot of "nickel and diming" being done my Microsoft that I am sure subsidizes their loss they take on the actual 360 hardware. The Wii is revolutionary and will bring a lot of new players into the gaming world. It's something that a whole family can get behind including the young and old, tech savvy and tech ignorant. It's affordable and has some really fun titles that ship with the console itself.
I think Digg would be a lot better if people got a grip on reality and stopped treating any console or product release OTHER than that of their own preference as an insult to their manhood. Every single one of these manufacturers have had problems in the past and have done things that piss off consumers. You think Sony was the only one to ever sue Lik-Sang? Look at Nintendo. Deceptive and unfair business practices? Hello? Microsoft anti-trust suits worldwide? It's corporate America! They have a fiduciary responsibility to their shareholders to increase their bottom line. THAT is who they are responsible to.
Welcome to reality. - Phoenixus, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4Am I the only one who thinks this was a pretty cheap tactic? I mean this, the french boat thing...that's just playing dirty. It's of my opinion that Microsoft, like they have done with windows, is trying to monopoly the console business. And THAT, would suck for everyone.
- exardus, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4You gotta be a real bitch ass to not buy a toy for yourself because the reason is that a company that made the toy lied to customers. Who the ***** did they lie too anyway, not me, I have a 60G PS3 and i am loving it every ***** day when I get a chance to sit in my living room. IF you don't think that a full internet browser, a bluetooth controller with built in battery that fully charges in 30min, wireless 802.11n, free online gaming, usb connectivity, card readers, option to install linux without any mods, bigger hard drive, ability to throw my mp3's from a thumb drive or anything else i can stick in a usb/SD/whatever ports are in the front onto the hard drive, pictures, watch youtube when you're wasted with your buddies on a big tv, hook up bluetooth keyboard/mouse/headset is worth the extra money, you're a retart and should get a job at arby's? Have any of you 360 fanboys seen a PS3, it's like comparing a dream cast to a PS2, or a Razor to a Nokia 8800, no comparison. How about instead of spending all this time bitching about PS3 on digg, and other social networking ***** blogs and crap, and commenting on every next get gaming console topic ever you get a job, and extra $600(got mine with tax exampt :), and find out what you XBOX is missing.
PS. This is my first post on digg, and a will probably get dugg down since i'm a part of silent minority. But think about this, why would you buy a gaming console from somebody that has been ***** you for years with their operating system. Don't get me wrong, if I could pirate a 360 I would get it for my dog, but I wouldn't play it. - toppgun, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1since when was the nintendo wii not in competition with the 360 and ps3?
- abalith, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Very useful. Very Doubtful.
- exardus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1hello my first digg friend ;), we will kick it
- tgapophis, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"So you would support a company that would lie to you?"
Unfortunately a big chunk of the world is forced to purchase and support Microsoft products. ;-) - zetsurin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Friend added :)
- macbookpromat, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4Precisely!
Cheers to Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo! Now if I could only stop spending on beer and save the cash for a Wii or 360. - Goken, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4My question is why does it matter what one person at Sony said? The only thing that gamers should be concerned with is..are the games good and are the graphics better then anything on Xbox. I couldn't care less how one or two people at Sony think.
- qafdemo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0those ugly guys make the xbox 360 look bad
not all gamers are ugly alcoholics. - zetsurin, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2This is another act of sheer desperation from Microsoft... Look at me, I am over here. You only see them pull this nonsense. Think about it, if Sony did this you'd all be in tears.
- lousyhunter, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Uhm... is it just me or has this story been posted something like 3 times in the last 48 hours? Digg Down.

Have you ever bought anything before? If so, then welcome to every company you've dealt with ever. - staticneuron, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2After all this... digg has a history..... go back and view all of the fud against sony and the PS3..... note how many of them have been disproven. I see alot of BS but it aint commin from sony.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2hahha
stupid japs cant run a company. u phail FONY - staticneuron, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2"* - Reference to the fact that they said that rumble was last gen, or it would interfere with their Six-Axis controller, as a reason to not have it in their controllers, but yet are now going to include it."
They said that because they were going through a lawsuit. What did you expect them to say without it affecting their case?
"** - Reference to them discontinuing the 20GB system and making the 60GB system only available."
If you have been paying attention then you would have read about how retailers are not ordering the 20 gigs.... the 20's are still available.
Keep rolling on little FUD machine... maybe.. just maybe you will reach your destination. - zirzop, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Good stuff.
One more thing, MS not only ***** people with the OS, they did ***** all the XBOX (1st gen owners)... They pulled the plug in 3 years! and still there are some people out there thinking that MS is doing good in console market...
I truly started believing that this is a self-selection... People who can afford to get a $600 console do have more perspective and can think "long term", where as, other people who constantly bitch about the price come up with lame arguments and dont see how retarded their comments are...
