- wageslaven, on 10/12/2007, -8/+31There is nothing to "deny". What people invent from thin air needs not be denied.
What kind of false logic is this? Its like God and/or the Celestial TeaPot. If i make a baseless assertion (The release date was June, now pushed to Sept.) and Microsoft says so, (Uhm, that is nonsense) its not a denial at all.
But, I appreciate the attempt by the submitter to try and paint Microsoft as a liar. I can play at that too: Johnkids (the submitter) "Denies Being a Puppy Raping Kid-Molester" See What I did there? - Warptera, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12How can something be delayed if the release date was never commented on in the first place? Someone's speculation, i.e. guessing, does not constitute any degree of accuracy in the real world.
- CanadianGeese, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10I just hope it's not delayed. I'm really looking forward to it. If it is delayed, I hope that equates to a better game when it is released.
- minimaximus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9so if Bioware wasn't bought by MS you think the product wouldn't have been delayed? what kind of messed up logic is that???
- exick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Non-story: Speculation on release date of Mass Effect being in June
Non-story: "Delay" of speculated release date being pushed back speculated upon
Non-story: Microsoft tells the community that the original speculated release date was full o' *****, that there is really no delay, though the speculation about the expected release timeframe (which is still not officially announced) is probably about right.
Just so we're clear? - shortyzgotpop, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7MS has way too many games to get out the door this fall I bet they will keep this on track for a summer release.

- kelbear, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Part of why developers don't want to give a release date is because the process is difficult to give specific dates on.
It goes sort of like this:
Find the mistake. In other words, find the thing that you DON'T know about(because otherwise you wouldn't have missed it in the first place). Then, "Tell me when you can provide a solution for the problem that you don't know about that may or may not exist in the place you can't find?"...With that many variables, a release date is pointless. As you find answers to each variable through the investigative process you narrow down the date may fall. However, remember, this is finding things you DON'T know about. So even if you're sure you've got one problem nailed down, there can always be another right around the corner, right up until the end of development. - zachariah042, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Lara Logan is HOTT!!
- Elrin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I don't mind if it's delayed, theres probably a good reason for it. I've allways considered it to be a game much like KOTOR and on those games there was a fair collective of glitches between them.
Having a little more time to work on it could just be to iron out these "glitches" to make the game much better in my opinion.
Anyway, you know it will be worth the wait. - kelbear, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If I set a release date for May 2007 does that mean I'm delaying since November 2006? Maybe I've delaying since the day I started my project.
Delay is being used as a pejorative term. The proper description is: It's not ready for release and don't expect it by June. If there's no release date, there shouldn't be a false expectation to betray.
If you don't want to wait for a game...just don't wait for a game. Why get bent out of shape about not having things you can't have? Just enjoy the things you have and want things that you can get. - InfinitySnatch, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Gamestop doesn't know about my Mass Effect.
- eXk0n, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Bioware hasn't made an official statement yet, so everything is still up in the air.
- DrunKao, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Oh ***** that's the first time that's happened to me. I've seen other people comment on the wrong topic, but I never thought it would happen to me :(
- ShoulderKnight, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Who gives a ***** about waiting for a game release in todays market. Pretty much everything gets delayed. Until games go gold don't hold your breathe.
- trunk8, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Bioware can take all the time they need, I won't complain. I want the game badly, but I also want it to live up to (and exceed) Bioware's standards. If that means I have to wait a bit longer, then so be it.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Oh man, do they really think people are stupid? Seriously, why do they even bother claiming this?
Anyone who's been paying attention to the game over the past half year or so knows it shoulda been out by now. Is it out? No. So... there's obviously a delay.
That's like Nintendo saying that Mario Galaxy and Prime 3 weren't delayed even though their original release date was Christmas. Then it was pushed to March. Now it's pushed to god knows when.
You can't deny that. - azizrulez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1the key sentence there is "people WERE EXPECTING it to release in june/july"
there was no formal announcement, even if it releases in september it isnt a delay - TheCash, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1@canadiangeese
Being delayed didn't seem to help Half-Life 2 any.
Then again, if this 3 month delay means the difference between Knights of the old Republic and Knights of the old Republic 2, well hey I can wait. - DrunKao, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"They were trying hard not to crack up as I screamed like a girl when I was being 'possessed by the Flood'".
Has the Flood just been confirmed for Halo 3? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0There were no specific dates, no, but time frames were mentioned. They said either Q2 or early Q3. Since June falls in there, it was a valid assumption based on the release info given.
- leebo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Having it delayed will be a good thing. If it isn't, they'll release a buggy version just as elrin said and they'll have the patches that we all love so much on xbox live.
- Nobi-Wan, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1If it makes the game that much more awesome then I'd rather have them take their time with it. Just think, Microsoft will probably charge us for the content that should be put in during that time as downloadable content.
- LAX182, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Just like Microsoft denies claims of a new XBox360 on the horizon
- Frank_the_Tank, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Gamestop has it listed for September... http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=200168
- nonpareil, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Not a "delay" but a "delay of sorts." Superfluity at its most excellent best.
- chocobomog, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2@wageslaven
Woah, calm down. Did you actually read the article before commenting?
First of all, the submitter was quoting the article in his description; he didn't try to "paint" anyone a liar.
Second of all, this wasn't a "baseless assertion", the article clearly states "the CVG report [of the delay] said the news came from an official MS event".
Finally, Microsoft is using semantics to "deny" the delay. Microsoft replied that since they never officially announced a June release the September release is not technically a "delay".
Basically, Mass Effect is coming out in September but it is not "delayed" because Microsoft never said it was coming out in June. - chocobomog, on 10/12/2007, -10/+1@canadiangeese
Unfortunately, there is a very good chance Mass Effect won't be released in June.
Pretend you are Microsoft. You have a huge game that millions of people are eagerly awaiting and it will finished for a June release. Suddenly, one month before the game's release an industry website falsely reports that the game won't be released until 3 months later. All of the major game websites pick up the story and suddenly all your fans are disappointed and/or outraged. Do you...
a) Immediately send a press release stating the article was wrong and reaffirm the big game WILL be out in June; or
b). Not say anything, but when pressed for comment state "we haven't announced a release date yet". After all, all of your fans *know* that the game is coming out in June, why should you have to tell them otherwise?
New scenario:
Pretend you are Microsoft. You have a huge game that millions of people are eagerly awaiting but it won't be ready for another 4+ months; yet everyone thinks it will be released in June. Suddenly, one month before the expected June release an industry website accurately reports that the game won't be ready until Fall. All of the major game websites pick up the story and suddenly all your fans are disappointed and/or outraged. Do you...
a) Not say anything, but when pressed for a comment you cover your tracks by implying "We never announced a June release date, you shouldn't be disappointed". After all, you did nothing wrong, they are the ones who wrongly assumed it was going to be released in June; or
b) Give an actual release date of the game so your fans know exactly when to expect the game and won't get their hopes shattered again.
