- Kewk, on 10/10/2007, -12/+167Fake, Metallica already confirmed that "One" was in Guitar Hero 3 http://www.metallica.com/index.asp?item=600358
- Violalee, on 10/10/2007, -16/+6This is a hoax.
- rainergamer, on 10/10/2007, -4/+31Satire != hoax
- hackiavelli, on 10/10/2007, -5/+32Problem is it's really BAD satire.
- therightclique, on 10/10/2007, -5/+4it is NOT satire. even if they want to say it is. it isn't. it IS, however, just plain stupid.
- ch4os1337, on 10/10/2007, -17/+4Also Harmonix is not even making GH3 there making RockBand
- gx5ilver, on 10/10/2007, -6/+4Rock Band is mentioned in the article. Try to read it next time.
- therightclique, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6"they're"
- CLShortFuse, on 10/10/2007, -2/+76It was pretty obvious it's fake from the tone of the article.
- Cloud7654, on 10/10/2007, -1/+29I realized it when I read: "When asked to comment, Gamestop representatives asked reporters if they were looking forward to Halo 3 and if they would like to maybe pre-order a copy to make sure they got one at the release."
- fnaqzna, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6It's still funny.
"We don't understand why Metallica would turn around and sue us, unless they've gone from insane to completely ***** insane since 2001, but we're confident that the law and our contracts will be enough to have this thrown out." - Bamont, on 10/10/2007, -9/+5It's obviously fake yet still being dugg. And people wonder why the credibility at Digg is so low.
- bonked, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5It made me chuckle douche - so I dugg it. Sorry if Digg transcends you narrow assumptions of what it must be used for.
- Cowtastic, on 10/10/2007, -17/+257While it has already been debunked, I wouldn't put it past Metallica to do something like this...
- acceleriter, on 10/10/2007, -5/+36Exactly. I had no trouble believing the vociferous anti-filesharing fan-suing sellouts would do it.
- Wolfie351, on 10/10/2007, -9/+3Metallica was anti-Napster and has never sued a fan. Metallica is one of the only bands that allows fans to do live recordings and free trading of those recordings. But, you are right on one point, they did sell out on their newer music
- frsrblch, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0I really don't think it's all too rare... I know that almost all of Dream Theater's concerts have been recorded by fans. It's all in the name of good music, so I don't see why many artists would be against it.
- Myonosken, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2What are you ***** talking about? Metallica were one of the last bands to allow bootlegs. Every other band has been doing it for decades.
- SteveMax, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Actually, they allowed live recordings since the 80s (AKA "when they were good"). This is the main reason why they'd never done a live album (at least not until S&M, but at that time they were already a piece of *****).
- fkr3, on 10/10/2007, -13/+6You'd probably be anti-filesharing too if you were in a major band and your music (aka your income) was being pilfered for nothing by craploads of people.
- MacEnvy, on 10/10/2007, -4/+5Especially if I were also a bunch of whiny douchebags like Metallica.
- dakboy, on 10/10/2007, -3/+11The money for most bands isn't in album sales. It's in touring.
- fkr3, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Right.... they get exactly $0 off the millions of albums they sell.
- mattyice11, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Metallica isn't 'most bands'...they see several dollars per disc where a lesser band gets maybe 50 cents per CD.
- frsrblch, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Metallica hasn't been Metallica lately. I doubt their new albums are making them all that much...
- Wolfie351, on 10/10/2007, -9/+3Metallica was anti-Napster and has never sued a fan. Metallica is one of the only bands that allows fans to do live recordings and free trading of those recordings. But, you are right on one point, they did sell out on their newer music

- mandangalo, on 10/10/2007, -7/+1You're an ignorant bastard, ain't ya? What if somebody found a way to supply the entire internet community with the fruit of your labor, thereby taking away all profits? Put yourself in somebody else's shoes for once and stop thinking only about yourself.
- bluezinc, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Yeah, because Metallica is so poor and the band members are starving. They make enough ***** money, anyways, who wants to steal Metallica? They blow.
- acceleriter, on 10/10/2007, -5/+36Exactly. I had no trouble believing the vociferous anti-filesharing fan-suing sellouts would do it.

First, this is a hoax. Second, this is not the place to express your Metalli-hate. Third, Lars Ulrich has nothing to do with the fake lawsuit. It's the "attorneys". Fourth, you're just dumb.- MacEnvy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6"Second, this is not the place to express your Metalli-hate."
I'm going to have to disagree with you here. This is a great place to express whatever you want ... it may not get dugg up, but that doesn't mean "this is not the place" to express an opinion.- alexdemers, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5Ok, find me someone who CARES that this guy hates Metallica. Then I'll give you a cookie for your statement.

- mountaincable, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Digg, this is funny.
- grifta67, on 10/10/2007, -10/+23How did this make the front page when:
1. It sounds pretty fishy.
2. The site is dead after only 50 diggs.- Damienk, on 10/10/2007, -3/+5It said Metallica...
- HanSolo69, on 10/10/2007, -3/+9Because this is a website called Digg. When somebody clicks on the little button by the story title that says "Digg this" it moves the story up in the rankings on the site. The more diggs a story gets, and if it gets dugg fast, then it moves to the front page of Digg.
Now do you want to know where babies come from?- Garbagio, on 10/10/2007, -4/+1Why'd you shoot first Han?

That totally made my day lol - kickisaacout, on 10/10/2007, -10/+22even if it was true, i think album sales would be affected more by the fact that metallica sucks
- emmcubed, on 10/10/2007, -4/+4Yeah, they seem to run around screaming 'copyright infringement' wherever they go in an effort to distract our attention away from the fact that the last time they made music either 'cutting edge' and/or 'worth a *****' was 1991.
Classic example of their decline: the album cover with blood/semen artwork. That's not rock, that's ***** sick.- ShagratOfMordor, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2They made an album cover out of Lars' stools?
- Shelter22, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0*****, i lmao because i thought you said "Lar's stool." I guess your version is still pretty good.
- ShagratOfMordor, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2They made an album cover out of Lars' stools?
- gearsofwar05, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1This is why Metallica has pissed off a lot of fans. They make more money than they know what to do with yet, they are worried about album sales? Lets see Lars go get a 9 to 5 job like me and then talk about album sales. Ever since Napster Metallica has gone down hill. This article if a fake but this sounds like something Lars would do.
- emmcubed, on 10/10/2007, -4/+4Yeah, they seem to run around screaming 'copyright infringement' wherever they go in an effort to distract our attention away from the fact that the last time they made music either 'cutting edge' and/or 'worth a *****' was 1991.

- HaikuKabuki, on 10/10/2007, -9/+19Hated them since all their hooplah about Napster.
Who here wishes for those good old days when Napster was the good guy and was installed on everyone's computer without anyone really caring?- Wolfie351, on 10/10/2007, -5/+2Napster was NEVER intended to be a free music service. That was their tactic to get a monetary deal done with record labels
- cspivack, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Hated them since they sold out with their self-titled album.
Who here wishes for those good old days when Metallica was the good guy and recorded real thrash metal without anyone really caring about marketability?- HaikuKabuki, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1hear hear!
- andrewsavage, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0I've heard this argument thousands of times. Yes, Metallica did some lame stuff about napster but they still put out extremely good music. Don't say they suck because of the napster thing. The music they put out will never change. Oh and BTW. Being in a band myself i found that "Load" and "Reload" were the best examples of Metallica's writing ability. The first four albums were great but really did not show the extent of Metallica's talent. I realize i am in the minority here but the dynamics and overall composure of the songs, i felt was better in those later albums. My .02
- HaikuKabuki, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1hear hear!
- Herv3, on 10/10/2007, -13/+5Adam Sandler: Metallica?! More like Suetallica!

It totally sounds like something Metallica would do
- Wesside, on 10/10/2007, -8/+8burried as inaccurate

- TheHayze, on 10/10/2007, -10/+6*rolls eyes* What a disgrace, even if it's false; Metalica are nothign but a bunch of greedy so and so's. Rememebr, my fellow brothers, they're the ones who took down Napster!
/sarcasm - RiverBelow, on 10/10/2007, -8/+3Thats ***** stupid. $80 game, or $12 album with double the songs? People still BUY Metallica albums!? For *****'s sake, Metallica's only sales are coming from online sources nowadays anyways. Geez.

- GlueSniffer, on 10/10/2007, -7/+5"The band learned its lesson the hard way with file sharing in the late 90s," I can't stand these idiots. They can't figure out that album sales issues were due to them changing to pop and becoming sellouts. That bastard Bobby Rock is to blame. The last album I bought from these bozos was And Justice for All... Since then I signed an online petition that I would never listen to them again....
- frepnog, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4You are an idiot.

- kedohmen, on 10/10/2007, -5/+13I'm sure it is fake, but they have been douches since 1998 -money grubbing rock-whores-so I wouldn't put it past them.
- rainergamer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+23Lol @ the ridiculous amount of digg users who can't detect satire
- fnaqzna, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2They also do not fare so well with sarcasm.
- hyper22, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Seriously... it's in the title bar.
- frepnog, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15Metallica were the stuff back in the 80's. Not so much nowadays on albums, but here is fact - if Metallica play a show somewhere, that show sells out. That means Metallica ***** rock. Especially since live they play pretty much the classics.... they know that no one really wants to hear Until It Sleeps or St. Anger in concert. Mostly, they just need to shut Lars up, stop making goofy "hey look what pussies we have become" movies, and go somewhere grungy and write some metal to record, and then just tour.
P.S.
There are some really good songs on St. Anger. After Napster, however, they could have released the best metal record ever recorded and it would have been lamblasted. Not that St. Anger was anywhere near the greatest metal record ever, hehe.- Kronos6948, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4I'm hoping that Rick Rubin gives them their balls back. St Anger had potential, but the tin can drums drove me away. I haven't liked a metallica album since And Justice...I'm really hoping the next one rules.
- jgrossma, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1"After Napster, however, they could have released the best metal record ever recorded and it would have been lamblasted."
True, but the inevitable lambasting was only helped/encouraged by the fact that St. Anger sucked
- SuiteXVI, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9Dugg for the entertainment value of all these twits who think that poorly done satire is real.
- sodascape, on 10/10/2007, -7/+2Metallica would sue a newborn baby if they could find a reason. Bunch of *****' babies themselves.
- bassgirl09, on 10/10/2007, -5/+0Wow, Metallica needs to get back into the rockband persona that is what made them great, they've lost it since about the time they killed napster. Most other bands would like the extra publicity, but apparently they don't like free advertising anymore....
- dhVyse, on 10/10/2007, -10/+6Does anyone still listen to Metallica anyway?
- frepnog, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3Yep. Millions upon millions of people. Probably including you.

- metfuel, on 10/10/2007, -5/+8Rick Rubin + Metallica + 2008 = Biggest Album of the Century and I finally get to see all you haters bow down to the mighty M m/
- frepnog, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Good lord I sure hope so. Rick made some damn good slayer albums... and other stuff....
- cspivack, on 10/10/2007, -6/+4By "mighty M" you mean Megadeth, right?
- macbookpromat, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Everyone knows Megadeth will never come out from under the shadow of Metallica until Mustaine starts acting like a man and quit thinking of what Metallica could have been with him in it.
- Pyroteq, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3I like both bands, Metallica a bit more - But Megadeths latest album "United Abominations" DESTROYS "St Anger".
- macbookpromat, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Everyone knows Megadeth will never come out from under the shadow of Metallica until Mustaine starts acting like a man and quit thinking of what Metallica could have been with him in it.
- calvinw, on 10/10/2007, -3/+0Metallica and Rick Rubin are overrated. Metallica can't make music and Rick Rubin is a mediocre producer. Listen to real music.
- tdous, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2List real music please.
- lostmyheadnmind, on 10/10/2007, -7/+0I hate Gaytallica and the way they practice suing people becuase 5 people wont buy thee cruddy ablum they are putting out with.
- Alphateam, on 10/10/2007, -4/+14I think of Metallica and Star Wars in the same vane.
Both used to be cool, but their new crappy material was so bad that it tainted their earlier work.- el_jefe, on 10/10/2007, -4/+1Metallica were never cool. And it was poor writing that tainted Star Wars from the beginning. George should stick to directing because writing is not his forte...except the only person that would hire him to direct, is himself.
- MackPrime, on 10/10/2007, -1/+18metallica need to get drunk again.

- mike_p, on 10/10/2007, -3/+7From the article:
"Metallica, for anyone who wasn't in junior high or high school between 1992-2000, was a heavy metal band that gained widespread popularity and critical acclaim in the early and mid-90s."
...
I'm guessing no one has ever heard of them before the black album. What an informative article. /sarcasm- frepnog, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1Sorry to burst your bubble here, but it is true that Metallica did not achieve widespread popularity until the black album, and that came out when exactly? Early 90's. :P
- mike_p, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1You've got to be kidding. I shall say nothing more.
- frepnog, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1Sorry to burst your bubble here, but it is true that Metallica did not achieve widespread popularity until the black album, and that came out when exactly? Early 90's. :P
- scronline, on 10/10/2007, -5/+3no, what hurts their sales is they suck. Their music hasn't been the same for quite some time. They can sue whoever they want, it's not going to make them sound any better. Actually makes me want to listen to them less.
- Jaysunli, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9Why do so many people digg something with out even reading the article?
- SuiteXVI, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5Probably because so many Digg members are idiots?
- Drakkor, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4lol,quote from the article, "The band infamously blamed file-sharing programs, which were quickly rising in popularity at the exact same time that Metallica was quickly disappearing from the mainstream consciousness, for the decline in their records, believing that it was Napster, not their own douchebaggery, that stopped fans from buying their albums."
- kiduk, on 10/10/2007, -5/+1I doubt anyone would rather buy 1 song for $80 than a whole album for 10 if they like Metallica.
- dalittle, on 10/10/2007, -4/+3Why would anyone buy Metallica's New Music. They had maybe 2 albums that were any good 20 years ago. They are irrelevant and I wish they would just shut up.
