Maxis abandons SimCity 5

computerandvideogames.com — More details have emerged on Electronic Arts' upcoming SimCity sequel, and it looks like original developer Maxis has little or nothing to do with the project. SimCity Societies, as it's being called, has been handed over to Caesar IV developer Tilted Mill Entertainment, who will be taking over development duties from Will Wright's Maxis.

    At least I'll always have Simcity 3000...the BEST simcity ever.

  • xerus, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Hey... C&C3 came out a lot better than I expected, and I'm sure Spore will be fine too. EA has it's moments when its not.... y'know, smashing puppies and eating babies or whatever they do.
  • terminalpariah, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3It's EA for crying out loud! The only way they ever release a good game is through some kind of divine intervention! I'm sure there was a producer who pitched retooling The Sims as an FPS at least 5 or 6 times.

  • scdayo, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Wow, I'm to excited about this. I really enjoyed SC4 and I was looking for the next logical progression of the series. But with them effectively "dumbing down" the game, I'm not to sure if I'll be interested. But like all things... time will tell
